So I went to get a pedicure/foot massage/reflexology today...OMFG check out this chick that did it!...and shes probably like early 40s?...Asians...

Played 4 hours at Ballys tonight, none during double hours. I got stuck first buy in so in for $600, cashed out $635...I had an interesting hand/opportunity come up the last hand I played. A few limpers and V1 (an elderly super nit w/$400ish) opens from SB to 12, his range here should be JJ-AA, maybe AQs, and AK/AKs. I pop it to $35 with ppQQ from BB w/$670 behind; Under different circumstances I wouldn't raise this nits range here with QQ but I do have position and there is no way I'm letting 5-6 limpers follow me in for his $12. Spewtard in MP with $250ish who had limped makes it $100...his range here is (and I'm serious) pp77ish+, KsQs+, AJ+...I'm licking my lips just hoping SB nit folds BUT he comes over the top all in!? Ugh...Absolute best case scenario SB has AsKs but I think that's super over-optimistic...I fold of course and grab chips which I've already racked, get up, and walk away without watching how it plays out (I do hear spewtard call as I walk away)...Of course now I'm beating myself up from sheer curiosity for not watching the hand play out, but in the moment I was pretty confident in the fold and I didn't want to feel tilted if I had misread the situation. DoH!

Sort of frustrating that I'm not scoring any big wins, that said I haven't booked any loss over -$300 in over 4 weeks for any session.

Went and hit the gym after, really getting strong again which feels great...I saw some chick free benching the 75 (x2) dumbbells which is pretty dam impressive for a girl, as much as I wanted it to be a 'hot' situation since I love gym rat chicks she just wasn't doing it for me; little too much meat on the bones and face was sub-par...overall 4/10 w/+1.5 bonus for 'pure power' haha...sorry wasn't pic worthy.

Probably heading out to the lake for the day tomorrow then back to Ballys, I should be about 30/100 for the mtt promo hours and want to get that knocked out then focus some deeper 1-3s before hitting the 2-5s hard.

Fun day at Lake Mead yesterday...Frisbee for the dog, gf gets to tan ect, I get to drink a beer and catch up on that PLO book I've been slacking on...good times. Speaking of the PLO, it plays so big from what I've seen that I've decided I'll have to play some limit omh/omh8 games first for any live practical application...obviously I realize it's a different thing altogether but should still assist me learning to range faster and working on outs calculation ect w/the different format/4 card combos.

Also I feel like I haven't been engaging in my usual gastro-exploits these past weeks and so will make an effort to get in a good detailed review of a Vegas food establishment in the coming week.

Went to the Orleans last night to play some Omaha...sat in with the intention of playing a few hours at the limit 4-8 Omaha Hi-Low game then heading to Ballys but I was having so much fun playing I ended up staying over 5.5 hours. The players were just realllly bad in general and had little to no concept of how to play correctly. I won a number of big pots freerolling double draws ect. Biggest one I think was a nut low draw w/nut flush draw flop pushed around multiple callers, low hit on turn and was capping with these 2 other guys...flush hits river more capping...they both show second nut low, one with TP one with small flush and I scoop it all. Ended up leaving up +$250 which was pretty funny, it being the best 'win' in the last week and a halfish and from a 4-8 limit game.

Hit the gym on way home, relatively crappy session...getting some typical over-training symptoms so I'm gonna have to just recover today. Stopped at GVR on the way home for the late night menu; It's decent food for the absurdly low price which always more or less equates to 'free' since I always have Stations comps lying around. I always get the NY Strip w/eggs, the eggs are serviceable, the hashbrowns sort of suck unfortunately but the steak is of decent quality. It's no Cut or Nine but its a surprisingly adequate piece of meat that they can manage to cook a med-rare and even a little sear on it...in other words a good step above the stereotypical beat piece of leather w/random chunks of gristle that's become synonymous with "steak and eggs". In all honesty I'm trying to bulk right now so my quantity vs quality meter has my standards/expectations a bit on the low side.

thx, yeah def this...I've been solid 35-40 hour weeks for a long time and am just in one of my ruts where 25 hour weeks feel like a lot...it's weird but happens to me from time to time...I wouldn't say it's like a burn out feeling so much as just not as hungry/motivated, the Omaha change up was fun though and I'm sure I'll get in 18-20 hours of nlh this weekend

Weekends been a bit of a grind...here's the basics for anyone interested (You may notice for the sake of simplicity I round up/down to the nearest $5 increment when writing results, to the dollar is entered in tracking software)

Put in less hours than I had hoped for Ballys promo and just in general b/c ditched some less appetizing Ballys games on Sat and Sun...only one seriously exciting spot where I fold pp QQ on QAA flop K turn, obviously I am worlds largest llsnl nit...I might post details on it later. I found the Wynn game to be a little harder par normal but at the same time more stimulating, I'm not sure if that influenced better results or just entirely coincidental but was certainly playing A+.

I hit my favorite 24 hour Pho place in China Town on the way home...there are dozens of Pho places some good some bad; I've been to a lot of them and for the serving size, the price, and the open 24 hours, I like Pho Little Saigon. It's on the street connecting Flamingo to Spring Mountain (on the Spring Mountain corner). I always get the rare steak Pho but this time got the rare steak +flank steak...could do without the flank steak was a little fatty for my tastes but still good. If you've eaten at these places you probably know the Pho bowls are pretty big portions. I also usually get these shrimp wraps...basically just shrimp and rice noodles in a rice papper wrap w/this kick ass peanut sauce. Everything was $13. As a bonus it seems to be popular with the local "massage" girls getting off late shifts.

Heading out to Cali tomorrow to surf for a few days, I should be back Thursday evening or Friday at the latest. Hoping to get back into playing some mtts when I get back but I realistically need to pump up the cash game volume to justify that to myself.

Ended up playing a ton at GVR today, made $225 but was up a lot more at one point, just gonna hit the road tonight. So off to Cali for some waves...Vegas is a great place to live but also a great (and necessary?) place to get away from a few times a year at least. I personally think everyone should have interests/passions that take them outside the limitations of their direct living environment...in other words if you haven't gone 'out of town' in the last 12 months you probably need to!

I'll be back on Friday, we'll see if anything interesting happens...in the meantime here's a few vids of 2 trips from 2013-2014...only really LVL relevant in that if you choose to live here you need to get out from time to time...they are a bit long and basically surfing content but maybe worth watching if your into watersports/ocean/island kinda stuff...a few female cameos in vid 1. When you get back we should set up a plo game, your problem being that you don't want to get into the games playing deep we can set up a 1-2 with a 1-2 buy-in. We can set it up at Red Rock if we get at least 5 players we can play half rake, we could even play a 1-2 HA game possibly get NCJ and some other 2+2ers to at least start the game.

I might be down for this, I'm interested in knowing more about PLO. This sounds like a good way to get started. I'm local and love RR, so I'm down for this any time.

So back from Cali, waves were pretty flat but still had a lot of fun. Found a big heavy shorebreak by Windansea and had my skimboard with me which was nice. Anyways, I'm back and feeling re-energized; I hadn't had a vacation for awhile.

While away I spent the nights reading a lot of the old trip reports and 'poker goals' threads on here and they got me pretty pumped up as well as inspired me to define some solid goals on a monthly basis that I will grade myself on at the conclusion of each month. I think doing so will help me push myself harder because I can be a very driven person in pursuit of goals/achievements within definable perimeters.

Reflecting on the last few years here I'm also aware that I have made little progress in terms of skill and bankroll outside of the obvious cumulative live play experience. The $ I have is basically still a remnant of online poker and I've merely covered most of my expenses while enjoying living in this city. I don't think there is any problem with that but I am now undeniably feeling the itch to push things. The whole goals thing will be in keeping with this attitude of moving forward.

I'll post my goals for August later but will be keeping it short and to the point seeing as I still want to focus more on LVL in the thread. On that note lets lighten things up in here; I'm going to go ahead and pitch this 'Photo Challenge' idea I've been playing around in my head with...

LVL PHOTO CHALLENGE, AUGUST:
Ok so here is the basics...I'm going to allow anyone interested to post in this thread topics/subjects for the photo challenge, from the accumulated responses I will chose one that meets the criteria of 1: Offers an interesting, entertaining, and challenging (it is called a challenge it shouldn't be too easy, that said it does have to be at least marginally practical/possible) subject material. 2: Is relatively low risk/safe for myself and the poor denizens/tourists of Las Vegas. and 3. Keep it PG13(ish) for the sake of the thread/forum...something like asking chicks to sit on my face seems perfectly reasonable but doing lines of blow off their asses is a nono you see?

To give an example of possible topics to illustrate the nature of the challenge here are a few sample topics: 1. Pics of lifting midgets over my head. 2. Pics of tequila shots out of randoms' tits. 3. Pics trolling strip cops (ok this one is probably a poor idea) 4. Pics of trying to haggle hookers with 1$ bills (on second thought also a bad idea since I suppose this could be considered soliciting haha) 5.Tourists passed out in there own puke...anyways you get the point

The photo challenge will be carried out along the strip and in various casinos/clubs/bars over the month of August, keep in mind this will be even more challenging in that I have to find both the subject and someone to take the pic should it be a topic requiring my physical involvement . At the end of the month I will post a photo thread/post in here with all the qualifying pics I am able to accumulate. Being a challenge I think even a few would be decent but closer to 10+ should be considered a major success. And the point of the challenge?...well none really, I think it will be entertaining and will remind me to lighten up/relax down on the strip while encouraging me to socialize a bit.

Ok so fire away with the Challenge topic/subject suggestions...I think it will be more challenging/fun to go with someone else's suggestion rather than one I come up with.
