indeed he also seemed quite pleased folding that A face up when I shoved over on the river on busted straight draw. my favorite though was when he tried to get trappy checking the big flush on turn when I hit 2 pair and had to pay me off when I checked behind and filled up on the river.

So did nothing today...walked around 'The District' and saw that Intergalactic or w/e movie at GVR...decent flick, entertaining and good visuals despite some holes in plot and the occasion magic fix...probably didn't help I had been drinking and had to piss 3 times.

Gonna go ahead and post update. I had considered delving into some more hands/play here but it's easier and probably more entertaining to just start blasting pics +this update it pretty much just poker as it is already since I didn't get around to much else this last week or so. All $ sessions are 1-2 hours except the first one @Excal and the last @SP which were both around 5.5 hours.

so Tues was the long session at Excal where I ran terrible but played solid, not sure why I snapped a pic but here is my whopping +$20 profit (in for $350)

Wednesday was those 2 short sessions at GVR -$7 and +$22, still felt I was playing well just running static. No pic but I did snap a pic of the big game going. I always talk about a big juicey loose $10-$25 w/mandatory $50 straddle min BI $3k game that runs from time to time at GVR but noone seems to believe me so made sure to snap a pic this time, one guy was like $20k+ deep. This one dude (ironically the only one whose face is visible) got all pissy that I took a pic...egomaniac thought I wanted a picture of him specifically whereas I was trying to capture the chips/cash$; He seemed to fancy himself some sort of celebrity and the other players at the table asked if I knew he was and seemed surprised when I said I hadn't a clue. Anyhow fk him, anyone who has read thread knows I take pics of anyone/anything I find interesting and let the cards fall as they may. So yeah derail but here is the big game. Also 2 of the guys would get up every time they weren't in a hand, move over a table, and play a HU $100-$200 stud game...so weird, such an odd game for a big HU.

on Thurs I had to drop my car off way earlier than I even usually get up, was gonna just catch a cab down to the strip but guy gave me a ride over in sick M3 and drove in quite an entertaining fashion

I had him drop me at MGM Grand since it was probably closest on strip and I figured I'd play some $. Well the place was too smokey and aggravating my still not right lungs +the game was crap. JimBean had texted me saying he and a buddy were playing the Aria 1pm and that BaconMaker +1 were playing the 2-5. Sounded much more appealing so I headed over there on foot; it ended up being warmer that I had thought that day so the walk was a little sucky but the one perk was I looked pretty dam broke/homeless with this scruff, a hoody and sweats, and a backpack so I was for once amazingly left alone amidst a sea of solicitations. I did conclude that despite being a little fun at night, I completely dislike being out on the actual strip while the sun is still up.

First grabbed some food; I know this place (5-50) and Secret Pizza get talked about a lot but I've never payed any mind to either since I'm more of a deep dish Chicago style pizza guy. I got the 'Forager' though and I can now say this pizza place kicks azs, as very pleasantly impressed and will undoubtedly be hitting this up more when at the Aria

Decided for the next few sessions I would change my normal pre-exit chip pron pics for more of a stack progression sequence since I always like it when people do that in the TRs. So here is that day at the Aria 1-3 in for $300

Quickly get up at first table when I !3 in position with AQ and go QxQ flop vs a guy who decides his pp is good

Unfortunately shortly after the best 2 spots at the table leave and a decent LAG Asian chick reg I have played with around town plops down directly on my left...not appealing (well I mean she is hot but the situation just got a lot less lucrative) so I immediately table change. New table is less action but a more controllable situation. We buy back in for $300 and run as follows (pics) and end up +$364 between the 2 tables before grabbing a cab back out to pick up my car.

on Fri some of us from the poker church are meeting up for the 7pm Orleans weekly mtt. The structure is decent and the field really soft, though I will say some of the players were tiltingly slow including father time who was seated at my first table...we really need clocks/timers in the mtts like in speed chess with an allotted countdown and maybe a time bank reserve. I price out a guys gutter early in but he calls anyhow and I get knocked down to about 70% starting stack. Shortly after the table breaks, at new table I run into cooler situation when I flop broadway after a !3 on button but the original raiser who flat flops set of JJJ with his ppJJ...we gii and turn pairs Q on board and I'm sent to the rail.

Don't want to let the bust out kill my fun for the night so I hit up the cash games ready to have some fun. I really opened my game up making some big moves and had that crazy leveling war with the one guy I still need to post details of later. In for $300 out for $857 for a +$557 pick up. stack progression:

this thick Latina cocktail waitress had me a bit worked up; ridiculously big tits along with the rest of everything crammed into a too small corset sort of thing; not my typical fare but hey cant lie, sometimes wheydacheese likes da bigger girls :P

saw some degens doing the degen on my way out in the form of some expensive HU open face Chinese poker

Sat night I met up with Bacon and we had some fun playing the 1-2 at Southpoint. a few details on session throughout the last few posts. Cliff notes: Ran sick, made sick bluffs, couple hero calls, put a few guys on tilt bad, collected profit.

parking situation SUCKED so ended up getting about the last open space on the roof of garage

Also don't even think about scoring food...rodeo AND a gun show at SP this weekend so place is slammed with thousands of Stetson wearing cowboys who aren't exactly your go out to Drai's type so are all just hanging around; this was the line at the 24 cafe or w/e when I tried to grab something about midnight

Southpoint chip progression: in for $300, out for $1100 +$109 quad bonus = +$909
this was actually a little bigger run too b/c came back up from a $170ish stack after making a super V based thin move that I still think was right as far as possible range ect but in this case failed and I didn't feel like topping off like I normally would

As you might imagine my hourly continues to be pretty cartoony for Nov thusfar. Have some mtt action in the coming week I hope to run hot in and might have a few fun things I'm doing around town ect. Feel like I'm really week in my foodie game lately so hopefully I get a chance to remedy that soon as well. Feeling good about my cash game and the run good has allowed me to get back into the more experimental highly meta aggro approach that I was crushing with in August prior to having to ABC TAG it up when running terrible in Sept; the aforementioned approach (SLAG) allows for maximized profits but it's wise to shut it down when running bad, if not just for the possible mental/sharpness compromise that can occur in a downswing and some serious bleeding could be incurred if you don't tighten it down while riding it out.

here is a parting pic of a cool Vette I took b/c I really like the red/white forged wheels...can't remember if I already posted this or not

ugh Fak! lol...well finally took a beating @Aria tonight, played sub-par and failed to make the adjustments I should have. Need to make a strong reversal on my next outing to regain momentum.

Should have taken my advice! The BBJ chasers at the Orleans were payoff monkeys last night. I took +727 home for 5 hours.

Played a short session just over an hour, needed to book a win to get momentum back. Ended up +$117, an irrelevantly small result in itself but I did it quickly and efficiently and played well so its what I was looking for. Actually stole a multi-called pot on my first hand sitting down w/74s that an EP had put in a weak raise to like $8 so with 3 flats behind the raise I went to $38 on the button knowing that the only 2 guys in the hand I needed to worry about have played with me so often they aren't calling with any of their range they could flat that $8 b/c they know once I've taken this line I will likely put them in a very uncomfortable spot(s) postflop on just about anything that comes out...in fact right after this hand one of those two got up and transferred tables

I may have missed some thin value on a hand I had set vs set but had him outkicked but I am pretty certain my play was best/standard. I want to post that hand and the one I got K.O.'d from the Aria 7p.m. I played sort of last minute late reg last night so will post those 2 later tonight if I get to it or tomorrow.

well exactly 60min at GVR today, guy named TJ introduced himself, was playing with me @Orleans the other night and I have seen him around the stations day games, seems solid. him and another younger guy I play a bit with were at my table so instantly swapped to the more traditional looking reg game. Ended up +$409 pretty sweet for an hour.

off to Stratosphere to play one of the sats into the bigger sat to the HPT...or so I thought...we get 9 players need 10 but only 5 show up when they call it...end up on the $ table and play exactly 15 minutes pocketing +$122 before it becomes apparent that the sats not gonna go anytime soon so I head home for early sleep to get out and crack at the sats again tomorrow.

so the extra $530 is quite nice especially since I was by no means even targeting cash games today just sitting in to stay sharp and waste time. I would say 30% or so of that as actually from savvy play, but admittedly the other 70% was pretty much gifted/dumped on me by sticky Vs who just payed off max on my good hands. <3 llsnl

this more or less gets me the rest the way out of the hole we dug @aria (baconmaker was coincidentally beating the game up over there today) so now we got the momentum back and can keep the pedal down. should be a pretty tournament based weekend though between sats, maybe some smaller stuff, and the HPT main. I am now 0-3 on the Aria 7pm if anyone is keeping count and I was pretty confident I would cash within the first 4 shots at it...pffft. I will keep stabbing at that and then will fire a few bullets @the golden Saturday 50k mtt at the nugget at the end of the month with the poker church peoples.

As I recall even the very best tournament players only hope to make the money 1 in 5 times, so planning to "cash within the first 4 shots" maybe be a little bit too hopeful. You should look over all your data on tournaments and see exactly how often you cash in them.
See what ones you do better at and so on. I think each type of tournament in each location attracts different cliental, has different structure and thus requires variations in strategy. It often takes me several attempts to sort it all out so that I play them well. My rule of thumb is that if I can consistently make the top third, then I will soon be making the money frequently enough to turn a profit. As a friend of mine would say to me "don't be so results oriented, just play each hand the best you can".

I make no plans. mtt variance is so insanely gross so I'm even happy to cash 1:10 and make it deepish. I simply meant I thought it a likely possibility that I would cash within first 4.

I used to think in terms of bustout positioning , but honestly a cooler sort of knockout can happen at any point ect as can luck so truthfully a player could play absolutely perfect and be out in first few levels, or completely terribly and bubble; Instead I try to just reflect on the hands/lines now.

So I ended up waiting around wayyy too long and dusting off $90 in cash game in the process but FINALLY got into one of the $120 sats for HPT at strato, there were lots of $60s going but people too cheap to pony up for a more practical route I guess. I played tight solid satellite/SnG strategy with which I am probably too intimately familiar with a touch of extra aggro...kept myself in a nice 3000-4000 range from the starting 2500 stack. Turns out all I needed to do was sit there and drool on myself though, was baaad...first 3 K.O.s were semi standard but then the tied bigstacks battled with one paying off all in to the others flopped nut flush. That left us with 6 and 2 of them being shorties. The shorties bust and it ends up massive stack, then me, then tied for second guy, and then a shorty who is about to be blinded off and would need to win at least 2 flips to even be remotely contentious. Well...wouldn't you guess...the tied for second guy implodes playing a big pp (ok it was AA but he should have folded pre in this rare spot or at the very least suuuuppper pot control caution) in a spewey manner vs the huge stacks 2 pair. Top 3 get into the next one so were done. I play the $360 sat tomorrow then and then the main on Saturday regardless of outcome.

gahhhhhhhhhhhhh made the first legitimate mistake in a lonnnng time at the table tonight. every single thing told me to do one thing and something over-rode it and I did the wrong action allowing a spewey lagtard to outplay me and rub it in my face afterwards. cost me $175 which aint bad in itself but super painful how it went down. guy must think hes Dwan reincarnate (circa early-mid 2000s) but in truth I just butchered the hand/line and even knew while it was going on...not sure what happened.

^to add to this, if you pull off a big positional dry bluff, and feel the need to flip it and gloat, it pretty much just confirms your a losing player and quite possibly suck at life also
