Pre-series bump, been super busy putting in the work with a coach and other materials to have a good summer (cash games). Gonna kick off the grind over at the Rio Tuesday but if the games blow I won’t stay long. I took some time to play some O8 last week just bc I know I won’t likely play again until series goes and I’m a weirdo who enjoys the game, this weekend just been playing the lowbee Venetian games and up about $1k from Fri-Sat only. Tomorrow I’ll be back at V then take some down time Monday before going ham. I will very likely be putting in 40+ hours every week for the next 6 weeks.

I’ve intentionally set myself up to be dissuaded from playing any tournaments, and while a few may tempt me, my goal is to really crush the cash tables and hit some new (for me) stake levels. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve, for one been studying/working Shortdeck game so IF it shows up at this series at low stakes I should have substantial edge over players new to the variant.

I’ll be running a fairly live action rail over the series on my Twitter and posting a few pics on IG both @Wheydacheese if anyone wants to follow the action.

Between the table and offtable poker hours and the game selecting/commute life is pretty much = poker for the next 6 weeks. Let’s roll.

The debatably not so great but I still love it game of O8

2 card no limit Omaha

V starting to get packed up early for mtts

Ah and ermagerd dis azz...couldn’t help myself and seeing as her pants were completely sheer (doesn’t pick up in photo) I figured she would be aight with the creeper shots.

Rando Strip stuff

Hopefully be posting some thicc stacks itt soon lets make a tentative goal of a $3k stack within first 2 weeks.

Booked the W for Sunday on last pre WSOP session as well. Lost a leveling war against an agro 2-5+ reg, Hand posted below...felt good about it but he just ***** clicked it and didn’t leave me with any moves. Fortunately check called down a double draw flop and hero big on river vs another player to leave with some cheese.

*edit* I was utg +1 not utg, also the 3rd player involved in mp folded on turn .

Realize that hh sloppy AF bc was at table typing, I open $15 utg+1, loose passive MP flats $15 bb agro reg call from BB. On river I meant he is either thin value with something like 66/88 or air’ish (in my mind). 3bet jam on river lends itself to air but I have practically 0 showdown value so I’m screwed. I can’t just jam river bc makes no sense and is terrible when snapped by top of his range (boats/flush) but smaller bet would even more likely induce the unwanted 3bet from this particular player (say I went $90) I feel he reraise much higher frequency and were not deep enough for me to have any room over that. My thinking was the $130 would look committing since left me only $175ish behind but he just smashes that sht back at me anyways. 2 factors against me here...my utg+1 open should almost never have boat here and also his Ac blocker takes out my nut flush...on the other hand it takes AcX air out for me which should make less hands I’m turning into bluff? In retrospect it’s not great spot bc I’m having to rep small pps having opened utg+1 but I’m still surprised he came back over.

With the advent of pools and dayclubs dominating the warmer months in Vegas more and more such attire has become commonplace much to my enjoyment. Fun fact: this girl was around 6 feet tall and rode the escalator up one step in front of me giving me a 6 inch distance face level view for around 15 seconds. Good times. Last supper of sorts before we go on the ubergrind. Got a massage at Spring Spa above Kaya Sushi and then the later for dinner. Message was decent but like $38 when Bali Spa (I think closed now) was $20? Also pro tip:if they ask if you want the hot stones say no, it’s nothing special but they try to tack on $10. Will start the twitter rail for cash games tomorrow if anyone interested/wants to bum hunt me Low Level Debauchery in Vegas

‘Ok’ start to the WSOP grind . Mostly pleased with my play so far and I’m addressing the few questionable spots. I’m trying to play in slightly deeper games and will continue to do so and that has taken some adjustments that I’m still tweaking in game and running through solvers afterward etc. I’m taking today off but will be grinding hard tomorrow-Monday so likely won’t hear from me until then, I’m hoping to find some reallllly good games in that space of time to push the pace a little. I’m curious to see how bad this big50 backs the lists up and I may have to play some random games/venues to get hours in.

***warning incoming beats whine!

I try to avoid these itt, however I would like to formally submit this as an entry for the worst runbad single cash game poker session category. I think most of these spots blow by themselves in any one session, together they are outrageous. Not included is set of 8s to 4 card flush river.

*all big hands were threebet pre, the KK was psb turn ace came river. The 77 QQ he limped QQ late position over numerous limps.

Was a few honorable mention hands that didn’t make that cut. KT < JT board paired T turn but river came in straight for her. Top 2 < sticky gutshot to river.

Been too busy on the grind this summer to update as much as I’d like but needed to post about insane game at Southpoint last night. Was there for the Andrew Neeme MUG games, table was pretty degen, some sportsbetters and a few higher stakes players playing down to gambol. We were doing 2 $10 nlh double board splash pots/dealer down but as the night progressed we started doing more bc one guy would pay $20 to our $10, eventually we became a table doing ONLY double boards bomb pots. That eventually progressed to a $5 ante double board bomb pot PLO game even though several of the players had 0 plo experience. One dude even accidentally bluffed me off a hand because he thought he could use 3 cards. We also had a rule that if you bet or raised you had to show a card of your choice after the turn/river that followed. This made for a crazy info leveling dynamic. Was so much fun but pretty intense at times as well.

MUG madness

Go super busy on the grind this summer and no news is bad news so it was ROUGH! Brief recap below then on to the present.

WSOP 2019

Cash games played: ~250 hrs 2-5nlh, 5-10nlh, 1-2(-5)plo

Tournaments played: 0

Results: ~ -$10k

Beaten by turn or rivered quads in $2k+ pots: 4 times

Lost from 80%+ equity spots: lost count, ran - low 5 figures below expected equity

Offtable review/coaching sessions: ~40 hours

Gym/fitness: 0 hours

Diet: shot to sht

Injuries: 1 herniated disk lumbar

Stress level: 1 mirrion

Parties/stripclub outings: 0

Random sexual encounters: 0

Alcoholic beverages: 3

Drug use: 0

Marathon degen sessions: 2

Tilt: once, arguably twice

So in short, this was probably the most effort and volume I’ve put into the duration of a wsop with 0 tournaments or ‘fun’ distractions while at the same time taking a shot at bigger games. Unfortunately I ran worse than I’ve ever personally encountered in ~10k+ hours of live poker, felt pretty surreal at times but I’ve heard similar horror stories and have new found sympathy for such. Focused on playing well and good decisions but it 100% fks with your confidence.

So monetarily was a disastrous summer, ironically I feel like my game is sharper/more in tune than it has been in years and I plan to keep trying to progress aggressively off the table.

For now I’ve been taking some downtime and will be focusing on getting back in good health and mentally refocused and remotivated. On the poker front it’s back to the 1-2/1-3 nlh for at least a few months.

Going forward things are going to get interesting this year as I feel I have reached a fork in the road of sorts. Having completed my post grad prereqs, I will be applying to a number of Physician Assistant schools all over the country this year/next cycle. I still love playing poker and the game and I’ve been content to play the lowest stakes and cover my life expenses to this point especially since I had no idea this is what I would be doing after online poker effectively shut off to me,however i feel like things have come to a head especially in light of results this summer. I don’t really like the concept of ultimatums as I think flexibility is always advantageous, however I have reached a tentative outlook on where things could go this year. I will be pushing myself harder than ever to improve my game and get in volume at the tables to grow bankroll this year and take shots at bigger games, if I feel like I am able to become established at the stakes I would like to be at (5-10) by this time next year I will defer the academics and see how far down/up the rabbit hole we can go, if not I will likely put poker on the back burner. Don’t get the wrong impression this isn’t something I’m dreading, I’m actually very excited and confident I can make something happen this year, and if not I’ll be happy I ‘went for it’ so to speak.

I’ll be updating the progress of this pursuit probably starting this weekend or next but haven’t entirely decided on the means/mode, will update in here when I do. Hopefully some of you follow along for the ups and downs and see where it all lands.

Sorry to hear you ran bad whey.

Don't beat yourself up for going on tilt. Happens to everybody. Just learn from it, put it behind you and move on.

Regarding your fork in the road, it sounds like you're approaching both poker and life with wisdom, therefore I don't feel like I need to say much.

I will tell you this, and please try to read it with an open mind, it might seem like I'm being a jerk because on a discussion forum you can't hear my vocal inflections or read my facial language.

I just got back from a week in Vegas myself and *I* had what was the worst *week* of runbad of *my* life. It not only put me on tilt at the end of the week, it had me being a total jerk at the table, slamming my cards down, slamming my chips down, cussing etc. That, for me personally, is humiliating - I pride myself on how friendly and fun and in control of my emotions I am at the table and secretly mock people who get mad and make jerks of themselves. To become what I mock was crushing for me.

My runbad didn't even compare to yours. It was like a pingpong ball compared to a bowling ball.

The lesson to be learned here (and do what I SAY, not what I DO) is that EVERY poker player needs to go into EVERY HAND OF EVERY SESSION prepared mentally for the possibility that they may win or they may lose. Doesn't matter if you've lost 10 hands in a row, you could still lose the 11th. Doesn't matter if your last 10 sessions finished down, your 11th session could still EASILY finish down.

It's impossible to completely prevent tilt, but if a player asks himself "How am I going to feel if I lose this hand?" and senses some negative emotions brewing, maybe it's time to get up from the table and take a 10 minute walk to clear your head. (Again, do what I SAY, not what I DO!!!!)

Hang in there man. Your thread is one of the best on the forum and I hope it keeps coming.

P.S. I have to ask, how's the girlfriend?
