Well first leg so to speak of my January mtts has come go an end unfortunately 0-3. Good news is I am playing very solid with calculations+perception on point and had forgotten just how easy it is to get $ in insanely good in these things. In this limited sample I would say the live mtts are as soft or softer than several years ago. I haven’t even had to take flips, can easily find 4:1-9:1 dominating spots, unfortunately the :1 are rolling off like clockwork but I remain optimistic.

Flight one Venetian $250 200k gtd, was chipping up nicely then took a little hit in standard KK < AA all in pre, fortunately dude was shortish stack. Later I pick up AQ in mp at maybe 300-600 and open to 1500, button and bb flat, flop AQ8 rainbow bb check I bet 2500 button goes 7500 bb fold I jam with minor concerns of 88 but this same guy overvalued top paid heavily earlier against a set I had and went running flush. So ya I jam and he instant snap shows AK unfortunately he goes running Ks.



Next up Wynn Survivor $300, format is top 10% chop $ evenly so essentially a satellite approach strategically speaking. I took some bumps early and admittedly made an overcall oop vs an aggro opponent when I couldn’t figure out what he could have (he rivered set after barrel flop and turn). KO when I open 8Tcc from mp get 2 flats, flop the gutter w/fd cbet, turn flush with sfd lead again and get jammed on...unfortunately not deep enough to get off at this point so in this one we go behind vs a A6cc and don’t river the miracle sf.


Then back to the V for another flight of the $250...had solid shot at running up an early stack in this one as we were above avg and gii on turn vs another above average stack w/set of 88s but river str RIP. Within 5ish min of that opened w/7T and jammed a 7-T-5 flop got snapped by 99 and nine came in on river .



I feel really optimistic about how I’m playing and am having a great time back in tournaments though would like to have had some more play time. Obviously you need to hold on your 80%+ers and win some flips. Thank god I don’t run like death in cash games, will be back at those over weekend then at the Wynn for some really good mtts next week!

Hope everyone is encouraged live mtts are very much alive and well it’s the theoretical statistics that have been on the dead side for me.

Getting tested a bit in this first month back at mtts it would seem. Played solid again yesterday in the Wynn $400, stayed around average until last hand before dinner break. I opened 89hh mp got hu vs bb and flopped flush, by river I was able to make difficult lay down to a bigger flopped flush but cost me around half stack. After excruciating 60min dinner break I came back and 10min into level put in an oversized three bet w/AA in mp over big stacks utg open, he rolled enough more in to cover me I snap and his KK spikes a K flop. On one hand was nice lasting long enough to get some play time and experience out of this one but on the other I was probably that 82% and decent finish from bagging for day 2. It is some consolation that I would have lost in that situation even much deeper as this player would have likely 5bet deep and/or we gii on K47 2 diamond flop. My optimism and composure have remained well intact which is really nice so will just go into the last 2 scheduled for Jan with same approach of playing ideally.

Bricks. Gii good spot 58% w/perceived fold equity for above average pot in the $600 lvl 12 bags were level 14, table was so pro heavy was tough. ☹️ flipped AKdd vs JJ early in $1100 today lvl 1 and had to work from behind. Regretted the early flip when I saw how soft table was, went out 66 vs KT off pre after I jammed the 66 for 6k into 2400 pot pre and he called. Ggz

Wrapping our January, first month (as of the 10th) back full time at no limit cash games. It was a great month for me results wise in cash though my volume was pretty sad due to playing a lot of tournaments and adjusting back to nl sessions. I ran stupidly above my normal hourly (to the order of 300%ish). As well as cash went, the tournaments went verrry badly. I played super solid and composed and gave myself great chances in significantly ahead but pretty much ran like death losing 80%+ after 80%+ as well as important standard flips (QQ vs AK etc). Unfortunately this means that I only have enough tournament roll saved from previous job to cover February’s planned tournaments then I would need to replenish from cash proceeds which is not ideal since I am trying to grow that as well.

Also really wanted to play the ‘Pokerbowl’ 650k gtd at Venetian but the $1100 price tag was too high for me so fired two sattys $200 each. First one busto from 98% second one hurt more though bc lost massive flip QQ < AKoff for a stack that would have assured seat followed by the KO KJ < 22 for enough that I would have been back in it.

Still feeling great about my play and it’s been s great month back so I’m excited for more tournaments and cash games in February.

Cash games (been at the Venetian a ton out of convenance it’s close to me and Aria 7pm always clogs the 1-3 list)






I finally got down to Park MGM again, ate brunch at Primrose which was decent put everything too rich like inundated in butter with no acid so kind upset my stomach. I like the Eataly joint, bought an expresso as cannoli and a bottle of red from Sardinia. The 20% locals discount has been discontinued unfortunately but they have it to me today anyhow.






Hoping to keep crushing the cash games in February as well as get **** done in the tournaments for some super deep/FT runs. In the meantime here’s a puppy picture, urbody loves puppy pictures.

u told me earlier today u spent most of the entire month not playing ANY NL, but mostly all 8-16 omaha8 in orleans.

Re-read your Twitter and/or this thread Tony I said it’s almost all I played “last year” . It fit much better with my work/school/research schedule but now I’m back in nl for the time being.

The rungood continues this week+weekend. I’ve been trying to stay very conscientious of this and approach decisions independently to max value and min loss as I am well aware of ‘winners tilt’ and how to proactively fight it.

Def looking forward to the upcoming Feb mtts I have scheduled, hoping for some deep runs. As I mentioned earlier I only had enough mtt roll to cover Jan and Feb so will have to reach into cash game manies for March if I brick which isn’t ideal for plans of upward cash games mobility.

Def fake dawg, high $ silicone though so . Admittedly I’m a major sucker for some D+ naturals on a 20-25ish year old chick but been my experience when things go south they go south . High profile non textured silicone under muscle is where it’s at, you would have no clue by feel or movement. .

****ty week or so for me. Continued to brick tournaments in fairly impressive fashion, plenty of 7-9 hour runs but lose every relevant mid-stage flip so struggling to advance. This is standard but also hit some run bad in the cash games, I’ve been finding some great and therefore high variance games and getting $ in in beautiful spots but running insanely below all in EV so pretty much in a legitimate downswing at this point. Going to shutdown and abc nit it up a bit to get head straight and confidence back.

Mtts sigh. KK was the main death of us losing to QQ and 99 in pretty important spots.




But we did also snap off a utg punt on 67(78?) hearts with JJ all in pre to have him flop flush. Actually gave us open ended royal draw but bricked.


And finally took actual coin ‘flip’ late in last one jammed 66 but couldn’t hold vs AJ.


Def trying to keep good positive mindset with the tournaments but it is frustrating regardless. When I play a live mtt I expect to play well, have a strong edge vs majority of field in sub $1000 events, and get $ in significantly ahead. I’ve been able to realize these expectations but the translation to results thus far this year has been nill.

Cash been pretty nasty as well, 3bet KK twice to same player at Venetian ($50-60 range) for him to call both with 88 and JJ and flop top set on both hands. Had a weird one again with KK last night, utg old man opens to $12, another old guy in lp flats, I go $37 on button with KK (should I start folding this?) both call flop comes Qs4c5c, both check to me I cbet $57...now it gets weird af...old man utg jams $200 and old man lp overjams $550, back to me with $225 left behind I tank but at these stakes this is QQ (and usually nfd) every time and I also do not have the Kc. I fold which turns out to be wrong as V1 has QJcc and V2 AKcc, to be results oriented it did run out club club .

Took today off just played Starcraft and hit gym, back at it tomorrow and hopefully have good news ahead.

I am sure it felt good when you technically made the wrong fold, they both hit their flush. Probably not good enough to make up for the run-bad in tourneys and cash though. I am sure it will turn around; the odds are in your favor! gl; gogogo!

Gonna be firing the Wynn Classic Main 1mill gtd on the 14th. Decided kinda spontaneously as I’ve had good success with these in the past and I’m feeling very sharp/motivated about my game. Selling at 0% MU over on the other forum if anyone is interested. Dying to ft something so this would be a sick one to do so in.
