Long Stay Advice on the strip during WSOP? Long Stay Advice on the strip during WSOP?

I am going to be in Vegas for a while during the WSOP. My total time is going to be about 17 days (more if I go far in the WSOP ME). A big part of the trip is going to be by myself. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or things that I should think about for my trip planning, etc. I am not super budget conscious, but obviously trying to make a bit of a profit at the end. Going to be budgeting my time between tournaments and cash games (mostly PLO).

You’ll find much more affordable options for a longer stay with Airbnb or VRBO.

Compared to strip hotels and resort fees, it’s not particularly a close decision, imo.

Will you have a car ? This is a huge housing selection benefit if you will.

If not, see if you can snag an AirBnb or vrbo along Flamingo, to the West of the Strip or, if possible, look for something at The Jockey Club, a condo building across the street, on the Strip.

A word of caution, in years past I've seen a lot of scams by private parties pretending to rent out houses/condos they do not own, specifically to poker players looking during the WSOP.

Stick to AirBnB or VRBO if you're looking for an indirect rental

Another condo option may be the GrandView , south on the Strip and next to SouthPointIt would have location advantages over some random house.

Strip busses run all hours and Uber works very well..

I should have clarified. My schedule is going to be staying at Aria and then Bellagio. I am set to stay at these places due to convenience. It is going to make things very easy to walk from Bellagio to Horseshoe and also wake up and walk downstairs and play cash games at Aria.

FWIW, I've also always stayed directly on the Strip (or at MGM Signature). Unless you're bringing the family I don't see any good reason to stay somewhere else if budget isn't a concern.

If you stay at Aria/Bellagio I don't think there's anything different in preparation between a 7 or 17 day trip. Laundry might be something to consider but especially since you don't need warm clothing, except for if you get cold at the casino, you should be able to bring enough stuff with you to avoid the need of having it washed. Some people get annoyed by CVS/Walgreens being the only real option to buy uncooked food if you don't want to leave the Strip or get stuff delivered but that also never bothered me. One year we went to Whole Foods and Walmart on the first day of a 6 week stay, bought a full cart of stuff at both stores and at the end of the trip the food was still in the fridge/freezer except for liquor, mixers and beer.

If you need "something else to do" during your stay depends on personal preference. I'm good with playing poker, doing a couple hours of work stuff, working out 1-2 a day and spending the rest of the time at the pool but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

17 days alone in another city, much less Las Vegas, can put a strain on your mental health. So, I'd say you should be deliberate about how you are going to take care of yourself.

I doubt I own enough clothes for a 17 day stay in summer in Vegas. I figure 2 or 3 shirts a day, unless I never go outside.

Might be cheaper to buy more shirts than to have them washed at Aria.

FWIW, I also don't have more than 40-50 shirts. On the other hand, our 3 year old daughter has >100 summer dresses. (my wife claims that's not a problem though)

If I’m lucky enough to have a daughter one day, my wife has made it very clear I to find another revenue stream to support matching dress budget.

Man this generation is freaking soft. He is going to be staying at a nice hotel and doing something he enjoys, most people aren’t that lucky.

My advice? Grind your face off when things are going well, take time off when poker feels like work. Try to find a concert, ufc or boxing, comedian that will give you something to look forward to. Even if you aren’t a foodie, go to at least one nice restaurant sit at the bar get some drinks and order something to splurge on. If you are a foodie do this a lot. Final advice be nice to room service and leave good tips, feels like they are always last to be remembered.

For Laundry I used an app called Clotheslyne that worked great. Sort of like Uber for Laundry, I left a large bag at Bell Desk, Someone Picked it up and dropped it off 24 hours later.
