I was hesitant about starting this because I’m not sure I’ll have the will to keep it up the whole way through, but hopefully it’ll make the trip more fun in the meantime anyway.

Got a buddy’s bachelor party in the middle of this and my brother’s coming down for a week, so staying kind of all over the place. Will be playing 1-2/3, some 2-5 and as much Flamingo PLO as runs.

Started yesterday with a nice cash session at CP, where I ran pretty pure and ended up $1k.

Hopped into the Giant at 7pm. Had a mostly very nice table. Let myself get angleshot in an early level. We had a very new dealer, on a board of 9TJ8hh, the other player bet 3200, and I flipped out a 5k and 2 100’s (with 78hh) I knew this was gonna end badly when the player insta-called the floor. While we were waiting, fellow next to me asks what the objection is, so I say, loud and proud:

“Our friend in Seat 1 is angleshooting. He, along with everyone here, knew exactly what I was doing. But his life must suck, and he’s been blessed with a miracle turn for his Queen, so he’s going to have the floor rule that I’ve raised so he can then go all in with his straight.”

Yes I’m petty. Yes it was awkward. I quite enjoyed it. Seat 1 just sat quietly, knowing better than to argue.

Once I was forced to raise, the jam wasn’t for much more, so I obviously called off and couldn’t hit a heart. Shortly after the first break we were on fumes...

Hit a miracle quintuple-up all in pre with QT on 853Q3 to get back to something playable. Won a bunch of flips/standard stuff and eventually got to witness some amazing ICM punting near the bubble. Stone bubble, with one player at our table holding less than an ante, SB jams, B.B. calls off his last 6BB’s. A5 v KT, both offsuit. A5 holds. While he’s waiting for confirmation that he bubbled (split it with someone else), the BB asks me “that must’ve looked pretty stupid, huh”? I didn’t want to lie to the kid, or rub it in, so I just shrugged.

After the last break of the day, we had turbo hour. I said the words all-in at least 6 times in the next 2.5 levels. We ran it up...

And then busted AK < TT. Out for $706. Gave a buddy from home a 10% sweat for fun, so sending him some cash this morning was cool. I think he had more fun than I did.

In PH now playing cash, and wondering why in a resort that cost hundreds of millions to build, they’ve got 24 inch standard def TV’s all over the place. Makes watching the game kind of painful.

Anyway, that’s catch up. Hope y’all enjoy. One of my friends had her dog run off yesterday and they found her today, so everything feels like a freeroll right now. In for $400

Gonna wind this one down early and be up for the $300 Dealer’s Choice back here tomorrow. Couldn’t get anything going. Flush draw < overpair and top top in 3 way on the flop, A5 < TT on A9T5 in on turn along with A6 for some bonus EV, whole bunch of other bleeding. Gave back $802.

Guy on my left almost busted to his buddy and then blind shipped his last $30 UTG, I tell him if it gets around to me I’ll call him blind. It gets around to me. I call. “I’ve got a really good hand”, he says. Well, **** lol. He’s got TT. So we sweat mine. First an A...then...a K. Funny that two blind hands ended up that strong. He won, obv.

Really fun game, enjoyed the neighbors and dealers and conversation. The spots are gone though so after getting home last “night” at 4am, it’s time for bed.

You didn't get angleshot. You made a mistake and paid for it. Just saying.

Anyway, gl

This. How hard is it to say “Call” then put the chips in. Or if that’s too much just flick in the chips one at a time. Otherwise great TR and pics, good luck!

Ok - pardon the ignorance - but why was your action in the angle shooting hand a raise? Is this a tournament vs cash game distinction? I would have thought it would be ruled a call with the extra chips pushed back to you since it was not a legal raise?

It’s deeply unfriendly in any case. Sure, definitely a mistake on my part. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. But an excessively precise application of rules to advantage yourself is what I’ve always understood an angleshot to be. Seems to fit. Anyway, included it because it added color; as I noted to everyone else at the table who kept talking about how dirty it was, it’s in the past. The guy also managed to save several more hours of his Friday night for not-poker than I did, so...karma.

Ended up taking yesterday off because I was feeling kind of down and enjoyed the sleeping in too much.

Back in action at Caesar’s 1-2. Stuck, but it’s early and we’ve got a good view of the game...

Run good: didn’t bet the Knights like I planned to. Woof. I’ll look at what the series price is after tonight and see if I want a sweat.

No terribly interesting hands. Lot of c-bets and two barrels and missing has me down ~ $400.

Floor got called earlier when a guy was tanking for not that long (maybe 90 seconds) facing a fairly big river bet. Floor says the usual “you have 60 seconds to act on your hand, and there will be a 10 second countdown”. Dude, steamed at the clock having been called, “I know what I’m going to do but I’m going to take the full minute.” Floor, without missing a breath: “You have 10 seconds to act on your hand. Ten, nine...”. The original guy who called it was being a dick, but I loved that the floor was having none of the intentional stall routine. Never seen that before (I guess I’ve never seen someone be so blatant about that being what they’re doing either).

Might rack up and go see Solo later, been meaning to.

I’m really bad at planning.

After deciding to go see the movie, I’m checking Bravo waiting for my car, and see the the Flamingo PLO is running, so instead I just hop across the street. Would’ve been MUCH faster to just walk, but I’d already requested my car. Get there, massive list, and the room was full. Didn’t want to wait around. Oh well.

Alas, will be playing it tonight, hoping for some rungood!

Showed up at Flamingo, again very long PLO list but no game started yet. I’ll be in when it does though. Little 1-2 while I wait (10-handed, which sucks IMO).

First hand of note, I defend the BB with K422ss six ways. Flop Ac5sTs. I lead out for 25, get raised to 80 by the original raiser, and we put it in for ~$150 hoping we aren’t against the Axxxss. Turn blank, river spade and we’re good.

And we get our first fun PLO hand! Nuts v nuts v Top Set v Nut Wrap all in on JT7r. Clean runout and we chop up the two shorter stacks. Game actually isn’t great, but the night is young.

Interesting hand just now, curious for thoughts. Button straddles, UTG makes it 9, we call from EP with QQT9sshh, 3 others call. Flop A87r. UTGg continues for $35, we call. Turn 8 bringing a flushdraw (not one of ours). He bets $60, we call. River an offsuit 6. He jams for $165.

Thoughts?

Had an extremely drunk guy at the table. Was amazing action, but, very predictably, ended with being instructed to rack up and leave. He was involved in two big all-ins with side pots, both of which involved screaming at dealers and screwing stuff up, taking way longer than they should have.

We’ve had a little roller coaster, up initially and then losing wrap v bottom set v top and bottom, and then paying off AAxx with KKJx on JTxxx like an idiot.

Gonna stick it out for a little longer.

Yup, action table ...though I almost got up and left because of the vibe and how slow the game got. Recs like me don't enjoy these games as the higher ev over a small sample isn't worth the negative life ev.
Pros should care because players like me provide a small but relatively predictable ev stream and also help fill up seats to get these games going.

A lot of places consider putting more than 50% on top of the calling amount, in more than one chip, as a min-raise and you are then obligated to put in the full min-raise amount. In this case because he put in 5200 when the bet was 3200, it was considered a raise to 6400.

Hey all, sorry for being slow and sporadic in updating this, as I feared I would be.

The PLO session I started here ended with a big win of $7. Still, was a lot of fun. Will be back. That “interesting” hand I posted, I of course called because folding is no fun, expecting to see AA. He announced two pair and I was good. I do think folding turn is right though, in hindsight.

Yesterday we played cash again at CP, absolute horror show. Long session, got buried quick then thought I’d gotten it all back. Flop was 4 ways AsTc7c, we have QJcc. I bet $35 and get one caller. There’s now ~$120 in the pot. Turn is gin. Kh. We’ve got the nuts. I bet $90, and the opponent shoves for $400+. Obv we snap. River the 6c. Villain rolls Kc4c. So now we’re stuck $1k. Battle back a bunch, but over the rest of the day I manage to run flush into higher flush twice, flush into boat (mercifully cheap), and QQ into A5off on 557 in a straddled, 3-bet pot. Despite all that, we only lose $550 on the day, which perversely felt like kind of a win.

Back at it today, already on the usual routine, the session is less than an hour old and we’re in for $900. QQ < 88 all in on 863 for the biggest chunk. Need some rungood eventually, right?

I don’t mean to be a bad sport about this, but here’s the update....

Just don’t really feel like typing up “we opened to 12 with QTs, flop 679r, we cbet flop and turn, got called by A6, which then won at showdown” fifty-seven times. In today’s session I made one flush, which used the 7c in my hand and 4 on the board, and involved no post-flop bets. I made one set, middle set on KQ4, and got two folds to the cbet. I made one straight, which won me ~$40. I made no two pairs. Biggest pot I dragged was < $100. It’s a miracle the damage isn’t worse.

It’s also just a miserable way to lose, at least set over sets (which featured prominently in my last downswing) are exciting and relatively easier to get over as “variance”.

Going to play the PH 8-game tomorrow for a change of pace.
