Thanks for changing the title.

Did a small pivot, i will be going to the Norwegian Championship in Dublin in early april. The event is held at City West in Dublin, and it will be the week before the irish open.
April 1st - April 10th.

Then home for easter, then Vegas from the 19th.

If there is any interest, i will provide updates from dublin aswell.

Allright.
Will give a mini TR from Dublin aswell then.

Here is the full schedule of the series.
I will be playing the 800€ NL Main Event and the 800€ PLO Main Event, and as well as lots of cashgames and probably some of the smaller events aswell.

I have hotel from the 3rd-10th of april.
Will have to reschedule flights home if i end up on the final table of the NL Main Event, but that will obviously be a good problem to have.

Sorry for the lack of updates.

i was extremely hung over after saturday, and the whole flight to dublin was brutal.

Checked in 1430 local time, had a few hours sleep, then 1 hour 1-2-5 PLO, then the 800€ PLO event.

I made day 2 with 130k/16 bigs.

currently 450k, 44 left and average is 390k.

Thanks all!
I ended on 20th, for a cash of 2110E.

I was on the TV table for the whole bubble, and i managed to get in a very bad ICM spot, which basically ended my chances. Had a small triple up straight after the bubble, but could not manage to build on it afterwards.

Jumped in to the 250E 10-game tournament, but did not manage to go deep here.

Played some OFC with jokers, where i managed to win 430 points in 2 hours, so all in all a decent day.

Today is 800E NLHE Main event day 1a. I will be playing and i will do live updates with pics today.

Total for dublin so far:
+1850E

So, the dublin part of this thread did not end up being a live report.
Several reasons for this, but all in all its just a lack of focus during a hectic trip.

I think when you are on a trip with several friends (we were like 40 from my hometown) its hard to find time and place to do the live update parts. So sorry about that.

Will do a fast recap here, and then on to the Vegas portion, that will be live (doing a solo trip)

800 PLO - sunday/monday 3-4th april
I woke up at 7am local time in Oslo on sunday. Never been this hungover before. Had been out drinking with my friends in oslo (i lived here for 10 years) and it was a hectic one. Ended up going to bed at 02:30, which in itself is a bad idea, but this hangover man, what the hell.

Had to literally just stand for 1.5 hours in the bathroom, one hand on the showercabinet and 1 hand on the sink, doing breathing excercises just for me not to puke.

With a flight leaving at 10:30, this was not a good start.

Made the flight with 13 minutes to spare, not able to eat or drink anything. Got 1.5 hours sleep on the plane, but all in all horrible start to the trip.

Won a taxiflip with a buddy who were on the same flight, so decent start i guess. (would end up winning 6/6 food flips after this aswell, ranging from 3-5 people in each flip. And the guy who took the taxi bill? He lost all food flips i was in, lmao)

Regged in the PLO at 1800 and were feeling somewhat better.
Had a decent table, 4 unknowns and 1 superfish.
The superfish were running hot against everyone except me, which is always nice.

There was this one hand, its pretty early. I have TT9x. Flop is 268 rainbow. There is a cbet, i fold. Fish calls. Turn 4. Bet, fish calls. River 7. Check, fish bets and gets called. Fish shows TT93 and wins with the nuts.

After the hand, the better asked the fish why he called both flop and turn, to which the fish responds "Ive been playing and studying in london, and i can tell with a high probability that the river card would be a low card, so i really had no other choice then to call here"

When the original better then asks if he knows that he is losing to all low cards except a 7, the fish really didnt have anything more to add.

I made day 2 with 130k from a starting 50, which is about 21 bigs for day 2. Play ended at 0230 local time, so pretty worn out after this, but could not say no to a 5-10 mixgame (8 game) table, so i played a few hours.

Day 2 were going nice until we were about 41 left. Getting close to the bubble, and i get moved to the featured table with 12 bigs. Here i got in a very bad icm spot, where i had only 1 shorter stack, combined with zero cards. For 3 hours on the TV table, i think i played 2 hands, and that was 1 triple up on the stone bubble and after that my bust hand.

Ended up making 20th for 2150 or something. Decent start, but wanted to get a FT atleast in this event.

800 NLHE Main Event
This is always the one you want to bink. For me, both day 1 and day 2 were pretty uneventfull.
Zero of my 3bets got trough. When i got called, i got a bad flop and could not manouver, and when i was bluffing i were 4bet on etc.

Ended day 1 with 111k for a starting 100k and day 2 were just a slow grind until death. Ended up pushing 12bigs with A5s on a hijack open, got called by AQ and bye bye me.

550 Thor Hansen Memorial
This tournament is a predecessor of the Thor Hansen open, which changed to a memorial after his death a few years ago.
Its a very nice tournament, good structure and with a 55k Euro first price, its a decent score if you win it.

I played very well on day 1, and during this day all my 3 bets went in. The bluffs, the made hands etc - everything worked and i got payed. After running the table for a while, a very good irish reg (everyone is allowed to play the side events, only the title events are reserved for norwegians) was sick of me, and decided to 3bet 70k into the middle over my 3.3k open on 600-1200 when i had aces. Dream spot, he had KTo and was drawing dead by the flop.

I bagged a top 10 stack for day 2.

Day 2 also went well. I played decent, got a few good spots, and was hoovering around 400k in chips, well above average when we arrived at the bubble.
I was never at risk, and the bubble came and went pretty fast.
Ended up in 55th place in a pure flip, with my AK losing to QQ. Cashed for 1110 euro

400 NLHE Turbo
Title event, so only Norwegians. Very fast tournament, 15 minute levels.
I had a decent spot early on with QQ on a Q99 table against a agressive player. He did all the betting on all streets and bet 15k into 13k on the river. I raised and he folded, so i got a full double up early on.

After this, i had a few lucky spots. 66 flatted against a early open. 4 total callers, i flop a six. Win a decent pot against AA.
Last hand before second break, i flop a flush from the BB against button open. He cbet, i almost clickback. He pushes with AA no flush and i hold.

Getting to the bubble here after 4-5 hours, and im never really at risk. Have 1.5-2x average and is able to chip up decent.
After the bubble burst, i get QQ in bb, and have 2 shoves into me, which i obv call. KT and KQ, and i scoop a decent pot.

I have around 600k on 250k average, but then i start losing the flips.
55 < AQ
AQ < 9T
AT < 86

After this im short, and i get a 44 vs AK, which manages to run out QQ26..6 and im out in 45th for 990 euro payday.

Cashgames
Yes, as a poster said, the cashgames are supersoft during this week.
My issue with them, is that its around 35-40 tables of cashgames wich are all super tight together, and everyone is drunk off their asses. The volume is insane, and people are walking between the tables shouting etc. I can seriously never play for more then 2-3 hours max at these tables.

I played 1-2-5 PLO, 1-2-5 5cPLO and 2-5-10 PLO.
All games good. The 5c PLO games were insane. People were buying seats from the players at the table to skip the line etc.

I made around 1500E in the cashgames over 5 sessions, which includes a 700E loss on the mixed games (yes im a superfish in mixed, combined with being drunk and bombing a razzhand where i tougth we were playing stud and i had a boat by 5th street.)

Summary
Great weekend. In total i spent about 1000E on flight + hotel.
I made around 1700 on the tournaments, 1500 on the cashgames and i managed to win 1200 in OFC games with friends during the downtime.
Combined this with a foodbill of less then 50, this was a very decent trip for me.

Not OP, but Norwegian Championship events = only for Norwegians and/or people living in Norway.

More of a thing for smaller countries I guess, to have their own championships.

Yes, and no. There will be another Norwegian Championship - in Norway - in October. But there are some limitations to how many events they can hold, they are not allowed to spread cash games, and there is a maximum limit (20 000 NOK, around $2270 USD) to how much each player can buy-in for during the festival.

Obviously no such restrictions in Dublin, and it's become a tradition (since 2012) to hold the Championship there. So every year now since 2015, if memory serves me correctly, there has been 2 different Norwegian Championships for poker players from Norway.

I think national tournaments for us Norwegians stems from 2 things:

1. A very strong history of national championships in every sport

«Norgesmesterskapet» as its called has a very strong foundation. We have it in all sports, and often its reffered to as the «kongepokal» or the Kings Throphy.

Tradition is that the king hands out the medals/cup in several sports, like ski, skijumping, soccer, track and field events etc

2. Tournaments/poker being illegal in Norway. We have one of the few state issued monopolies left in the world when it comes to gambling/lottery, and up until 2015/16 it was never allowed with events in Norway.

There is a group of people who have built the norwegian championship since late 80’s early 90’s which are the people who are running the Dublin events.

When the state-issued championships came in 15/16, it was a huge step in the right direction, but its still bogged down in rules and regulation, meaning its almost impossible for the vendor to make money on the arrangement.

No cashgames, no side tournaments and people have a losing cap of 20k NOK. Which means you need to win/cash in your first or second event to be able to play «everything»

Somehow it works with 2 national championships, were imo the one in Norway has the most prestige, but the dublin events are bigger and better.

Check out an area called "The Lakes" for potential place to live if you want to live near a running path. There's a 4mi loop called Lake North Drive (name changes to Lake South, Lake East, Lake West depending on where you are). The area around this loop is residential, so you can easily walk out of your apartment and start running if you live nearby (no need to drive anywhere). Obviously Red Rock and Henderson (probably) have more secluded running areas, but those might be hard to get to without a car (I never ran in those areas, so I can't vouch for them). There is a park in that path (Lake Sahara South Park I think) that has a public bathroom and water fountain. I ran on the road since I don't like running on concrete sidewalks. The road has a running section but it isn't blocked from traffic, but there wasn't really any traffic in the early morning (and the sidewalk is an option if you're ok with that). Traffic will pick up in the late morning but it's usually too hot to run at that time anyway. I never ran in the evening, but if you do, I'd recommend reflective gear and/or blinking lights on your shoes or as headgear. Spring Valley High School is also nearby, and they have a track. It's not public, but I never had issue running on it as long as school was closed and it wasn't in use by students for track meets, training, etc).

The Lakes is closer to Red Rock Casino, but that poker room is mostly locals. There is a movie theater and bowling alley in that casino if you did want to do something besides gamble. If I remember correctly, uber rides to the strip were about $20-$25 on the weekends.
