Thanks dunno maybe... I guess if it's requested I should oblige haha..

I've been at an up and down but overall VERY good 2-5 NL table all day. Still there - was down, then up, now hovering around even. Hopefully finish strong.......

My buddy hanging in there, last two levels of super senior tourney day one.

So good chance I'll be back at Rio tomorrow, and I'll probably give the Omaha a try....

Monday recap

So played about 10 hours at the Rio, same 2-5 NL game... the game was up and down, but mostly pretty action-y and only 1-2 pro types at a time. The game got more charged up when two Swedish buddies arrive in the 1 and 2 seats. They literally each had a plastic bag full of cash chips, as if they bagged a tournament lol. They both bought in for 1.5-2k - over the max, but no one seemed to mind...

My day was relatively uneventful from a poker standpoint. Somewhat card dead, but mostly due to .. um... drinking heavily from about 2p - 11p. I'm good at not getting out of line when drinking, but certainly miss opportunities, etc. Had fun, played the roll call game. One guy asked me if I did that to gain poker info on my opponents haha. It definitely livens up the table to ask that question imo..

Ended up down 100-200. Got too tired and forgot to a picture of the delicious fried chicken breast I got on my way back to bed.

Oh, my buddy made day 2 of super senior event. He's pretty short, and a way to go before the bubble, but that means I'll be at the Rio by 11 am.

Plan for Tuesday: drink less, update more

I definitely need to wait until dinner time for drinks haha... (although if I drink early and could come home and nap and maybe go out for a middle-of-the-night session!).

And I hope to share some hand histories throughout the day. I'm not good at taking breaks, and it would be good for me.

Day 3 starts now - may jump into Rio 1-1 PLO before walk to the Rio...

I probably call off here. Feel like the chances of a T8 just flatting turn are pretty low. I'm assuming all of the x's are not the same suit?

He limped so I guess all the T8’s are out there. Still a call though. I think.

Unless he is really bad, The only hand villain could bet and you win is QQxx, there are way more combos of T8, and literally 0 bluffs. I think you should fold.

I like better a bet/fold river.

Very good TR, I will be in Vegas in 2 weeks and you make me feel there already!

OP has an 8, so they aren't all out there.

I play little Omaha, but if I check there it's because I want him to bet so I can raise. I think he would raise on the turn with the nuts almost 100% of the time. AQ with heart draw is a large part of his range imo. And really all two pair hands with nut flush draw, maybe some sets, but less likely, same straight?
Having said all that, he's only calling with the same hand or the nuts, so probably a terrible raise... unless he's been calling somewhat light.
But like I said, I don't play so I'm probably happily lighting money on fire either way! Lol

Great report regardless!
Thanks!
T-minus 43 days for me

Results: I folded and he flips over 66 sigh fu.k etc... I think it was a close spot and not horrible.

But - I think it was a huge mistake to check river w 2nd nuts. Easy bet-fold if raised, as I'm pretty sure almost no one raises without nuts on the river to 3 barrels.

Walked to the Rio again after my "free coffee" only cost $88 1-1 PLO dollars... well less than yesterday!

The walk to Rio was ok but a little warmer one hour later than yesterday.. but I was prepared...

Hopped into 2-5 NL... on list for 1-2-5 PLO we'll see what happens...

Going around the poker table, asking every player where they come from... always fun, generates conversation / good vibes

just an FYI

You can walk out the flamingo to the linq promenade and down under the high roller. If you head right on that road towards Ballys behind the Flamingo and Cromwell there is a sunshade with benches under it. The free shuttle to Gold Coast picks up there every 15 minutes or so. It will give you a free ride to Gold Coast and that's across the street from Rio.

Just thought I'd help you out. Enjoying your TR. Win all the monies

Thanks for the tip.. not a bad walk in the AM, though.

My 2-5 NL is grrrreat. So far at least. Down 500 quick after some tough spots, now up 400 on the day.

Hand history or two to come in a bit but can't take a break right now...

Trivial check/call most of the time. If he is sticky we can bet and get called by a lot of worse hands

I don't think you have ever played live PLO cuz none of this is true.

Edit: except bet/fold is fine here

2-5 NL was a great game at Rio today. Fresh table started at 1130 am. I was the young gun (I'm almost 50 lol). But thankfully they weren't OMCs, but rather passive guys who like to gamble. Perfect.

But - down quickly due to tough spots. Raise AQ EP called by SB. I call a small check-raise on Ad6d5x. Fold to turn bet. Later told me he had A6... I was damn sure he wasn't bluffing.

Before biggest tough hand: I 4-bet AKss on the button, call all-in from 3-bettor for like 300. We chop as he has AK also.

2 hands later: 2 limpers I bump to $30 w 6h5h. 4 callers including main villain - 70s Japanese guy living in Hawaii - very nice guy. He limped UTG this hand.

($150 pot) Flop 6c5c3x. I bet 90, villain calls.

($330) turn Kd. I check back, mostly for deception but prob mistake.

($330) River 7x. He checks. I bet $150. He tanks and raises to $450. I moan / groan and say something about how he must have 44.... I fold. He later confirms he had 44.

But can't keep a good man down - in for 1500 out for 1900. Ran good / played good but most important - they played BAAAD.

Cashed out ab 600 when table became.... Euro heavy lol. I told the Euros sitting around me "I prefer to play against stronger *American* competition"... they laughed Live Trip Report 6/16-6/20 - cash games and drinking and pics of cheap food

Second 2-5 table not as great so far... in fit 1500, sitting on a little over 1100. Not a nitty table, but players aren't as bad as I prefer. Might stay awhile, or head to the strip for a different game before bed...

Seems like such a low payout for a fairly high finish.

Are you buying in to 2/5 for $1500??!?

Tuesday recap

Man, I have a hard time quitting a table. Especially when drinking. Especially when down or not up 'enough' as I deserve to be lol... Stayed at Rio til 6 AM playing the same 2-5 game. The game got good as I got worse re alcohol consumption... A blend of good and bad players popped in and out, but the good thing was that the game was 'action-y' throughout, not boring/nitty.

Roll Call game was on all night, of course.

Bulgaria, Austria, Israel, England, France, China, S. Korea (*), all the states lol (well, lots of them)
(*) see next post re S. Korea hahaha

One interesting hand (details sketchy): I'm BTN w 8s8h, I called a raise, and young/surly kid with aggression bumps it up from SB, pretty big. I've been waiting and waiting to flop a set for a while and call (we're both over 1k effective).

Flop: 9d8x3x (woohoo) kid leads, I just call

Turn: 4d Kid fires $240 (probably slightly under pot-sized bet at this point). I feel like I need to get more money in before the river if he has an overpair. A 'normal' raise felt awkward given stack sizes, a min-raise never seems like the best idea to me (but maybe here?), and I decide to shove thinking he may think: a) he wouldn't bet so much with a set; b) maybe I picked up a big draw like Jd10d. The kid was tilting a bit - was losing in some tough spots.

I shove for like 900 total, I think? Anyway, he tanks... and sure enough, mumbles things like 'why would you do that with a set?' etc etc... Finally he does fold.

I guess I lost some value, but decided to go for it. His commentary made me think it may have been a good idea, at least.

The rest of the night was a bit of a blur. A young LAGgy kid from India joined late, just on my right. He bluffed me in a big pot, was playing waaay too many hands. I decided I had to stay to 'get him' but never got the chance. Thank God he racked up just before 6 or I might still be there...

Ended right around even with some decent swings from down a few hundred, to up 6-7 hundred, then back to even.

Walked to Flamingo from Rio since sun was up and not hot at all at 6 AM!
