Hmmm not sure about this. Had to wait 15 minutes and got seated at a new 1-2 table. Looks like a bunch of OMCs but we'll see.

Took a peek at the 1-1 PLO game. Its got a 500 cap so thought it might be good but looks like a bunch of short stacks sigh.

I'll have a few beers and if it sux we'll be heading elsewhere...

2x6s9s flop.. OMC w 190 behind leads 30. Folds to me raise to 80. (I figured he's way behind but don't want a scare card on the turn). He thinks then calls. Others fold.

Turn 5s. He pauses slightly and checks. I pause 10 seconds and go all-in. He tanks but calls.

I'm hoping "no spade".

Good luck on tables. I just played the last 3 days mostly at the Flamingo $1/1 PLO and the action was insane most the time. One guy on Thursday ran $500 to over 4k in about 4 hours. To me that game was 10x more fun than any other $1/2 or $1/3 game I've ever played on strip.

Thanks for the report... that's kinda what I was hoping. I passed on a seat there earlier but I'm back on the list and I'll jump in in a bit.

Anyone know: if I received "$10 credit" for declining housekeeping... do I access that with my players card? ...or my room key?

Flamingo 1-1 PLO - free beer and free money

So the game is pretty lively from a table-talk perspective right away... that's a good sign. Stacks weren't huge, but had grown since I had looked earlier.

We had lots of button straddles - nice butttt he Flamingo button straddle for this game is... $2 - lol why not just make it $5?

I was basically pounding Coronas for the 5 or 6 hours I was at this table, but ran well enough to book about a $700 win. No really amazing hands, but this one stood out for non-strategy reasons:

I was doing my roll call around the table to find out where everyone comes from (I highly recommend this). A new guy comes in, no sh.t he's like 55 years old, with a fancy but weird faux-hawk, wearing a denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up. It's like he came from a 'dress like a douche' party. Anyway, I ask where he's from, as we had the info from all the other players, he looks really annoyed by the question but says "Louisiana". Surly.

The hand: Little action preflop, I flop a gutshot with 4-6-x-x and decide to bet. He calls and the 5x on the turn gives me the nut straight. He donk bets, I raise, he ends up shoving. I take a moment to be sure I have the nuts and call. River blank, he mucks when I show the straight, kind of mumbling but nothing major.

But then: the *dealer* volunteers something about how I had a "nice wrap" on the flop (I didn't lol.. just semi-bluffed a gutshot). The dude gets SO PISSED at the dealer. "You think that was a WRAP?" .... "Wait, you really think that was a wrap? Oh my god this place.." blah blah blah.... it was pretty great.

He gets more money, rebuys for $300 and loses it all quickly, I think ahead in a 3-way alliin, but, hey - it's Omaha - and lost. Then he made fun of one of the old guys in a very mean way, and left. I think he didn't come from a 'dress like a douche' party, after all. A true douche through and through.


So, yeah, booked a nice profit and guzzled beer. Had to get 'dinner' on my way to bed. Unfortunately this was the 2nd of two pieces, and the first one was larger, and I ate them both because.. drunk and hungry, but it was a bit much.

The Roll Call Game

I highly recommend this.

You just start with the player in the 1 seat, or wherever, and say, "OK, I'd like to know where everybody is from." People generally provide their home state or country, but get more specific after some conversation. (Don't forget the dealer...)

Sometimes it feels kind of awkward at a quiet table, but that's where it helps the most, sparks conversation almost immediately, every time. Someone used to know someone... used to live in neighboring town... friendly sports trash talk... plus it's just *nice* to be reminded of how we come from all over and enjoy a game together.

Last night, at 2 tables over 7ish hours, met people from: Texas, California, Washington state, Hawaii, Indiana, NYC, North Carolina, Virgina, Denmark, France, Louisiana (1 dick 1 non-dick), Florida, Wisconsin, Canada, Switzerland, Maryland... probably more but can't remember.

Nearly everyone seems to enjoy this kind of thing...

(But the two guys from Denmark may have gotten a little tired of my repeated drunken references to the "FAMOUS DANISH PLO COLLUSION TEAM" after saying it 30 times in one hour hahaha. They were good sports, thankfully... )

Monday 6-17

Wake up at 6 am, but got 5-6 hours of sleep so feels like a win compared to other Vegas trips.

Meeting my buddies at the Rio 930ish to rail the old guy in the Super Senior WSOP event. Then plan is to hop into 2-5 over there, but could end up in 1-3 or PLO, we'll see.

Still two tables of PLO downstairs at the Flamingo so may kill an hour there before heading over. Need some free coffee since my only complaint is *no in-room coffee maker* boooo.

There will be updates..... peace.

Hop into 1-1 PLO 730 am.. killing time and want a free cup o coffee. Game was GREAT but that coffee cost me about tree fiddy sigh...

Played bad / ran bad. Biggest mistake was playing junk hands. Got into stupid spots that weren't all that interesting but this one kinda..

I have As2s2d6x. Preflop button raise gets 4 callers.

Flop Qx8s6s.. I'm cutoff checks around.

Turn 2x. UTG bets 90 into 100.. I call. (He's loose preflop but doesn't seem to get out of line post).

River 8x.. I sigh snap call, but I think that's a fold yeah? He wins w 66.

Pretty bad 90 minutes of poker but no worries - day is young. Headed to Rio...

Caught my pals.. their dad is started up in the Super Senior event. We're gonna hit Hash House-a-Gogo, then I'll try to hop into cash games.

Was quickly down $200 @ 2-5 NL at the Rio, but now up $100.

The good news is my table is good.. maybe one pro-ish guy, 2-3 decent recs, 2-3 passive dopes, and a tilting middle aged Asian lady who was very upset to learn that putting her name on the cash game list didn't also auto-register her for the daily deepstack tourney. Luckily that means she's staying at 2-5..

Asian lady limps from BB to $10 (btn straddle). I'm UTG+1 and bump to 55 w AsKh.

We're heads up and she has about 180 behind as flop comes KsJs9x. She min ck-raises from 35 to 70. Not loving this spot but I tank-shove and she insta-calls.

Turn - low spade and I'm hoping to hit back door spades juuust in case..

River - blank and I flip over AK. She tables..... K7 off and she rebuys for $500 <fist pump emoji>

Enjoying your updates so far moondog! Are you planning to play any PLO at the Rio? Last year the PLO games at the Rio was very loose and juicy when I played in late June.

How’s your horse in the Super Seniors doing?

Planning a trip a lot like this one for next year. Prolly in the June 4-8 kind of time line, so very much...
