Random notes:
Korean Fan Death:
Played with about 3 Koreans, plus had 2-3 dealers from Korea. Asked them / teased them all about 'Korean Fan Death'. Basically, there is a persistent urban legend in S. Korea that if you have an electric fan on while you sleep, and the door is closed and windows closed, there is a decent chance this will kill you while you sleep. Ha. Gus Hansen's friend:
Played with a 20 or 30 something guy from Denmark for a while. He was fun / friendly and was staying with Gus during WSOP. I asked how Gus really gets his money, he wouldn't really give hints/opinions but just that "Gus is the smartest guy I know." Also noted that Gus was a genuinely awesome guy/friend to him.

Monday night during my drunken cab ride from Rio to the Strip ... While this ride was super quick, my cabbie managed to ask me about 10 different times why, when he sees a poker tournament on TV, and the player raises to "2 million"... why isn't that real money?? I drunkenly tried to explain tournament chips to him, but pretty much failed.
Roll Call game / #positivity

My first table on Tuesday with the older guys was super fun, and the Roll Call game generated a ton of friendly converstaion / laughter. This morning (Wed), after my walk back to Flamingo around 630 AM, I stop at the desk to add Weds night to my stay (no way I could check out by 11... will need to nap later on Weds probably).
A 71-year old lawyer from Oregon walks up from behind and shoves me... just being silly. He was at the table with us Tuesday. He said something like, "Hey, that was a really fun poker game yesterday.. It all started when you asked where everybody was from."
No joke! What are the odds I'd see him at the Flaming at 6:30 in the morning..? That felt good.. Most humans are cool. Sure, all are flawed, but most are good people.

So far so good. Down 100 early, get back to even then I have KKxx on K54-5 board with 3 clubs. I min-raise a guy, he pots it, I shove (he only has a little left).
"Quads?", I ask.. he looks confused and shakes his head. River puts 2c out there but no quads no straight flush for him yay.

1-1 PLO and beers continues...
My stack has taken a hit, but in other news:
- a gentleman joins the game to my right. Of course, I ask where he's from. The answer is "Finland" and he chimes in with a question of his own: "Are you the one with the Trip Report on two plus two?" Haha small world.... Nice to meet you, Pasi!
- I take a break from poker to run to the Flamingo sports book... need at least one sweat while I'm here.... "How much do I need to bet to get a drink ticket?" .... "$100".... pffff damn seems like a lot but...... OK let's go Tribe. (Want a drink ticket just in case for end of the night..

Based on Bravo and a sense of nostalgia, and despite some mixed reviews, I decide on the Venetian.
They put me at 1-3 while I waited for 2-5.
I played two hands and was up $310 haha. We were short handed, 6 players I think.
1st hand - I and one other call a raise to 15. I have QxJx. Flip 10-8-x rainbow. Initial raiser bets 20, I make it 65 and take it down.
2nd hand - I raise 6 handed to 15 with Ad10x. Button and BB call. Flop very similar... I think 10-8-5 w two diamonds.
I lead for 35, button calls, BB goes all-in for about 60. I make it 100, button shoves for like 150ish.. I call. Turn 5x. River blank.
I flip over my cards, they stare at theirs and muck face down. As I'm dragging the pot, over the speakers... they call me for 2-5.
My best session from an hourly rate perspective. By far...

* Hitting the wall *
After my too-good-to-be-true 1-3 session of 5 minutes, 2-5 was.... not similar. The hand posted above was the worst of it, thankfully.
Speaking of that hand - while it's important to consider image / history, it's also important to note what I *didn't* consider: his potential holdings. What bluffing hands or value hands that I beat make sense? I think it's ZERO. It certainly looks like I could have AK for rivered top 2... Heck, even if he semi-bluffed with something like 4s3s on the turn it got there.
Turn call was fine, but I think river was an obvious fold if I would've thought it through.
Only had a couple drinks. Was just really tired and couldn't even get the roll call game going haha.
The Venetian room was as nice as I remember. A lot of young pros and their backpacks, but enough rec old men to balance it out.
Bummer to the with a losing session, bringing me back to just above or below even for the trip. But it was fun and I'll certainly do it again.
Future strategy adjustment: drinking is for 1-2 and 1-3 games, 2-5 should be sober and focused.
At least the Cleveland Indians covered my extra night at the Flamingo!
At Mccarran airport now. Line looked scary long but moved relatively ok.
Flying to Denver then home to Columbus.
Hopefully I think up a few more amusing anecdotes when I'm rested - if so I'll post them.
