Day 2 - Thursday

Woke just after 11am. Checkout was at 11am. Checked the hall and housekeeping was still a few rooms away. Figured we were good. Showered and got my **** together and was downstairs before 12.

Used one of the self checkout booths. Quick, easy and pain free. Job done.

Time for breakfast.

Had my luggage with me so went for Hexx again

Can't get over this location.

Went for similar to yesterday but swapped out the bacon for sausage. Tried to swap out the potatoes for sweet potato (which was available on the menu with other dishes) to which I was told was not possible? My server claims to have asked the chef but I doubt he did.

Ate far more than the day before as when I looked back I must have been on a serious calorie deficit for the day. Don't want to be wasting away.

Breakfast 7/10. Check was $15.

Spotted someone on the Terrance that I recognised but seriously could not place. So snapped a ninja picture. (Not creepy at all) Thought you guys may help me identify

I think poker related but not sure. May just be another random tourist. If so. Sorry sir for posting your picture on the internets.

Get talking to the wife who has just landed her first flight on the east coast and is waiting for the connection. ETA 7pm so we have about 6 hours to kill.

Grab a lyft to Encore to see if we can get an early check in. Must say that I am seriously impressed by lyft. The app is great and don't think I've waited more than 5 minutes for a car. All journeys less than $10 including tip Don't know if it has any benefits over Uber but we don't have either in my city so this type of service is super impressive. Would there be any reason to try an Uber?

The wife and I did make an agreement this year that if we were going more than 2 properties away that we would try and grab a ride. I understand this is huge -ev for the bankroll but what we always end up doing is walking for hours. And before your know it your walk to Venetian becomes a walk to MGM crossing the street 2 or 3 times in between. And by the end of the day your are dead on your feet.

That being said we will do exactly that one day next week where we try gamble and drink in as many properties as we can in one day. Usually set some basic rules like $100 in chips and 1 drink per casino. When either is done we move on. Looking forward to that.

Get to the Encore. No line. Result.

Check in is no problem and get offered an upgrade for $35 a night. The upgrade is just the same room but on a higher floor. Not worth it for $300. I go for the strip view version of what we booked. No mention of early check in etc. Staff super friendly.

Obviously it's to be expected for the price point. But the place really is first class all the way. The bed in this place is next level and legit one of the things I have looked forward to the most about coming back to Vegas.

The poker room TV channel is a nice touch too

If you are here solely here to play poker and win the wages then of course you wanna get best value with where you stay but if you are coming with a partner or an actual vacation you have to at least get a few nights here.

So checked in. Unpacked. Time to hit the gym. Time is limited so decide on the hotel gym.

I like to be as efficient as possible when in a "regular" gym as opposed to a Crossfit gym so plan everything out using a timer. Keeps things moving. Decide on a 30 minute EMOM. (Every Minute On the Minute) for 4 movements and break it up 10/10/5/5. All sets are 10 reps. Then get some some rowing intervals. 4x750m @ a 1:45/500 pace. With 1 minute rest in between. In and out within an hour and a solid workout under the belt.

Still had time to snap a few pics.

Cold towels were nice. Don't get that **** at the Crossfit haha

Free fruit too. Love a banana

Hotel gyms are a funny place. You see some sights. I'm all for people getting in the gym and moving. Any movement is better than no movement. But if your on the treadmill reading a widespread newspaper and drinking a coffee you ain't workout out. Or doing squats in the smith machine whilst your trophy wife 30 years your junior loudly cheers you on as you scream out every half rep.

Anyway gym done and a with a quick turnaround we are on our way to the poker room. Got about 2 hours. Score the wife arrives.

There's a new sports book at the Encore. Well either new or moved but it wasn't here last year. Pretty small but nice. The main book is in the Wynn

We jump right into a 2/5 seat on a must move table. In for 500

Love this poker room. The staff, the seats, the tables, the spacious room all just win in my opinion. This game could well be just as boring as the game at Aria from yesterday but it just feels different.

Anyway. Starting to find my rhythm with the cards. As I said before hadn't played in over a year. But feel like I'm starting to make good decisions and feeling good about my game in general. And enjoy having to put some thought into my lines and my opponents.

I did note down a few hands to post up but some how deleted the notes. If anyone has a good way of recording hands at the table I'm all ears.

Few nice pots. Up and down but no big ones. And also managed to get out for the minimum with KQcc on K Club Club board against opponents AA.

Get the message the wife is on the way. Pick up for 423 (-77)

Short enjoyable session. Also Wynn coffee is a solid 8/10.

Wife gets in and shifted. Clearly in zombie mode from the travelling but we head out for dinner around 10pm.

We go for Jardin

We both go for a chicken cabbage rice curry combo. And also first beer of the trip. On day 3 believe it or not.

Meal is an easy 9/10 but the check is less than favourable. $102 with no starters. And the wife only had Diet Coke.

We go for a walk around the property and grab some ice cream on the way. We check out the front door displays and just generally take in the atmosphere whilst letting dinner settle. Wynn is considerably busier than Encore but I think that's to be expected due to it being closer to Venetian and the strip.

We decide to have our first punt in the pits and the game of choice is roullette. In for 100 stack of reds. I pick out 5 numbers for 25 and miss. Wife is up next and goes for the same strategy. 5 chips down but splits a fe number. Binks a halved number and we are rolling. We continue on take $25 spins each and run it up to over $300. Lose some back and we chip up $200 and move on. Always good to start with a win.

+100

As we make our way back to the room we stop off for some black jack. In for $100 each at $15 table. We play a full shoe and cash out $290 between us.

+90

Happy with our double win we decide to call it a night just shy of midnight.

No plans for tomorrow yet will see how much sleep we need/get.

Thanks for all the subs and hope you guys are enjoying so far. I'm enjoying doing the daily write ups as opposed to trying to live report through the day. But will try and drop a few updates along the way. As always let me know if there's any areas I can make it more enjoyable to read. The post feels very long and quite systematic.

It also serves a good purpose for me too as after a few days in Vegas everything kinda blurs together so will be nice to revert back to this at a later date.

Plus you waste a lot of time. You're only there for a limited time. Riding Lyftuber > wasting 2 hours/day walking while on a 5 day vacation.

!!! Last time I tried to play blackjack at the Wynn it was 3 am midweek and they had exactly one $25 table open. All the rest were $50 and up. BTW that $25 dealer was faster than Full Tilt. She busted out my $250 stack in 15 minutes.

Pretty solid hotel gym. I can see people going to the gym each day and still gaining weight whilst scarfing down bananas between the treadmill intervals of drinking sugared up coffee and checking out the gossip columns.

Day 3

We are up and out in the search of breakfast before 9am. We head for Terrace Point at the Wynn

We considered the buffet but neither of us are quite buffet hungry. Plus the line is about 100 deep. Not sure if hotel guests get to skip.

We get seated outside overlooking the pool and food is pretty good. Wife gets fruit platter and pancakes. Eggs Benedict for me.

**** picture

We then head for the concierge to get tickets for Encore Beach Club the next day. Chainsmokers are on. $200 later we have tickets and line jump as we are hotel guests. The pricing for Male v Female tickets in Vegas still amuses me. I don't mind it and I understand the reasons. But you would think the SJW of the world would be all over that by now.

We head out on the strip for a walk and to pick up some supplies from CVS. We stop at Starbucks outside Treasure Island and it occurs to me that on my fourth trip here I've never actually set foot in the place. We decide to walk through and head for the fashion show mall.

Thought I might I might as well get a chip for the collection so we play a hand of blackjack. $10 on 2 boxes. Ace Ace King King. Sweet. And it's the last hand of the shoe. In for 20 out for 50

Spend an hour or so spacing about the mall and pick up a few things.

We head out the back door and come up against a railroad trying to get to our next destination. An additional 15 minute walk was nice in the middle of the day.

Can't say we were tempted

We get there one the end.

Thought we may as well partake with the new laws and all.

We enter into a kind of holding are where there is a cashier for I assume quick and regular sales.

We wait around 10 minutes to get in to the main sales area. And then about another 10 minutes to get to a counter. There is a guy going through the line helping customers before they get there. We are not first timers but don't really know what to go for as we decide we don't wanna actually smoke. The guy running the line and at the counter were super helpful and talks us through all the edibles and strengths and made some recommendations. In the end we went for some rice Krispy treats, some lozenges and a vape starter kit.

Total haul was $100. We thought that was pretty decent as we expected more.

We grab a taxi outside of Reef where there are lots waiting and head back to Encore.

Back to the room to heck out our goods. We split a Krispy treat as recommended by the dude at reef. And head down to the casino for a punt and food.

We sit at the ultimate Texas holdem which is a favourite of the wife's. it is pretty fun. Last year we smashed a quads bonus for a few grand so of course we are chasing that high again.

We sit with 100 each and play for a an hour or so. We book a combined win of 345.

The edibles are taking effect and we head for food at Charlie's next to the remodelled sports book

Wife got the loaded hot dog and and got the pulled pork. As I'm sure you can image it tasted ****ing amazing.

Our meal is pretty hilarious but as we finish up we think we low balled with the edible and decide to head back up to the room to try out he vape kit.

Not before punting off $50 at roulette

We get to the room around 4pm and we do not reappear for the rest of the evening. Except for a one man solo run to the store for sugar based treats and ice cream sandwiches.

We end up baked and watch some TV. Both snoozin hard by 7pm haha. Although the wife claims she was not sleeping. Just that her eyes were melting into her skull.

No poker today but decent lift from the pits. +325 for the day.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Much appreciated.

Encore Beach Club tomorrow. (Well actually in a few hours as a sit writing this)

Wish me luck. I'm not sure my 1 bottle of corona has been very good preparation for the chaos which is about to ensue.

It was the guy in the back with the Cap. Wife identified him as Andrew Bene who has been making some blogs that include runs through Vegas. They had popped up on our recommended presumably from watching neeme etc.

Yes, exactly. And in practice it can mean, "Breathing near this machine will cause you to be charged for a $15 pack of Skittles you didn't actually use."

Day 3 - Saturday

It's 3am when the wife's eye balls stop melting. We are both up and feeling fresh. As we should after sleeping at 7pm.

We decide to go grab some coffee and go for a walk. Take in some of the zombie apocalypse from the clubs emptying.

We are not disappointed as the hall outside XS is littered with bodies and the wounded being carried by the survivors.

Our walk takes us on quite the path. Much longer than planned. The farthest we reach is Bellagio where where we grab breakfast at the cafe in the conservatory

To route to get there was

Encore
Wynn
Palazzo
Venetian
Harrahs
Caesers
Bellagio

Punting along the way. Craps & Roullette are the games of choice.

4 handed at harrahs

Breakfast is alright but the service is poor. 5/10. Wouldn't go back.

The dice have been good to us on our outward journey so go for some more craps at Bellagio to begin the return leg.

This guy going big at 7 in the morning

We quit craps at Bellagio around 9am. Didn't record every table but we book a decent win for a morning stroll.

Total win for the morning +553

Actually really enjoyed walking around at that time of the day. Plus we managed to get some great pictures with next to no one around. We grab a lyft back to Encore to get ready for the beach club.

To be continued. Currently playing 2/5 at the Wynn when writing this.

About to pick up to go get ready for tonight.

Will update later.

Day 3 (Continued)

So yeah. The Beach Club ruined me.

Club opened at 10am and the concierge told us to be in before 1 as they may get full and start turning people away.

We head down to the casino around 12 to get a few pre game drinks. 3 vodkas later and we are in the line enter. The line we were told we wouldn't need to stand in. Nice. But it's not all bad as I bump into a dude I went to school with and haven't seen for 10+ years.

Things move quickly and we are in after 10 minutes. Hit up the first bar we come across. 1 vodka, 1 gin. $60. I can see how this day is gonna go.

We head outside to find a spot. No sitting unless you are paying for the privilege so we find a spot with an umbrella next for the pool. The place is already jammed.

We are told Chainsmokers are scheduled for around 4.

We set up our little base camp and I head off to get more drinks. Best value looks to be the pitchers which are about 4 drinks. $100 a pop. Luckily the server is not shy with her pours.

There's also gaming tables in the bar area. Look wild.

When I return the wife has moved into the reserved seating area in front of us that is in about ankle deep water. Result. Turns out she got chatting to some French dude in a Crossfit shirt from a gym that we knew the owner of. He is there with his wife and 5 other couples and demanded we join them in the booth. Wife's social skills are 10/10 by the way.

There is cases of beer, magnums of champagne, bottles of vodka all being thrown at us. Not to be total free loaders we order up a bottle of vodka for the booth and charge it to the room. (As of today, 3 days later, I still haven't looked at the charge, I'm scared)

All the dudes are French and pretty cool. We have been learning French lately so there is lots of failed attempts at French chat. But their English is probably better than mine so no issues.

From there on in. Things just get messy and by 3:30 I am done. Still no Chainsmokers. Since that's the reason we came I need to power through. The wife on the other hand is absolutely buzzin and hasn't stopped dancing. Even had one of the dudes doing push ups in ankle deep water. I declined the challenge.

I remember the Chainsmokers coming on around 4.

Next thing I know I wake up on the room sofa at 11pm. **** me. Ultimate fear.

Turns out we lasted til about 5:30 when we left in search of food which we never found. Wife says she had quite the task convincing me not to go play poker as we passed the poker room on the way out. I'm sure that woulda been a solid session. Also managed to avoid the pits which almost feels like a win.

Anyway. Felt like death after waking up. Could barely move but made it to the bed. Ordered room service. Had about 2 bites of a pizza and passed out again. Good night.
