Okaaay!!!

I’ve been a long time lurker and wanted to give something back. This will be my first ever trip report, and will do my best to be live, happy and positive thoughts!

Arriving Vegas Sunday night. Staying at Palazzo for 3nights, then Caesars for 5nights…. With option to stay another week if required.

Plans for this trip will be very simple…. Just win baby!!

If everything goes according to plan, this will be a slow and gradual grind for 8 days with a hopeful win range between $3000-6000. And ideally it will be boring, minimal heart pounding sweats of a rollercoaster ride with my bankroll.

Goals and expectations –
50-65% Poker playing, either at Bellagio, Aria, or Venetian. Most likely 2/5nl, maybe 5/10nl if 2/5 is not producing to my expectations. 10/20nl(20/40nl) Bellagio if I’m buried, tilted, and need a shot to recover. Yes, things can potentially get out of hand but hopefully not. I’m a seasoned veteran of the game by poker standards. Have lots of experiences at the levels mentioned so no little fishy here, although tilt can turn me into a whale in a given session. Again, the goal is to keep things as boring and straight forward as possible. Expecting to be +$2500-3000 for the week at 2/5 if plans hold.

30-50% of the time will be Baccarat. I like to start out w/stadium Bac machine play. If opportunities arise, I’ll post pics and self-talk analysis as to why I bet the way I am. Depends on how things go, I’ll start with base units, build, and then raise my levels and press. For some reason, I can’t get myself to making too huge bets on the machines compared to playing on the tables. If I get buried in this, then it will be to the tables for a degen comeback. Hoping to be +1500-2500 for the week.

5-10% Blackjack, it will be a certainty that if I am playing BJ, it’s because I’m stuck for the day and need to change things up. I only play double deck.

This will be a methodical gradual, consistent build, averaging winning 500/day to hit my end goal. Hopeful!

Food plans-
This will be very boring. I love all the food offerings in Vegas; however, this will be a solo trip. Therefore, I want to keep it as simple as possible. It will most likely be just Chipotle dinner and subway snack before bed. Not exciting at all. Maybe taco el gordo as a treat for winning! My fav taco place. Maybe a buffet if I’m feeling fatty time as a treat. If losing, then it will be punishment with Mcdonalds and hot dogs. When I lose, I binge eat so that can get ugly.

For solo trips like this one, I tend to just focus on task at hand and it’s not really an entertainment/pleasure trip.

Entertainment- if I’m winning, then maybe a few free shows from total rewards will be a nice filler. We’ll see.

Bankroll- Cash on hand will be 6k, with lots of credit if needed for backup.

Puuuhlease Vegas don’t punch me. Let the people see me win!!!!

That would be nice. For my mental sake, I try to set a goal that is reasonable without feeling the need to force my play and just let it happen. The preset goal does take into consideration potential swings.

Definitely things can go bad quickly with baccarat and tilt combo. I have back up if it goes bad.

Thank you. Base on previous experiences, I think it's a realistic goal. It'll be fun trying to do it while maintaining my first trip report and hopefully entertainment for the readers.

I go to Vegas pretty regularly. No matter how often though, I’m always nervous until that first buy in. Then it’s just a rhythm of routine.

First win already… I was expecting to be in Vegas solo the entire time. However, my GF said she could maybe join me for a few days later in the trip. Her presence keeps me sane and less potential for crazy tilt, which I have a tendency to do from time to time.

Last trip, I attempted to check-in at Caesars but my room wasn’t ready so decided to go play Bacccarat in the high limit room. The plan was to just waste a bit of time till room was ready. As gamblers know, things rarely go straightforward.

I ended up being stuck 8k so quick. 5hrs later I was up 1100 and quit. That’s an example how fragile things can be, could have been a disastrous session before I even got to check in.

I later moved to Planet Hollywood, and experienced same thing. Start my day and was heading to Bellagio to play poker. But had a brilliant idea of playing some Baccarat first to start the day in the highlimit room.

Well…. 16hrs later I was still playing in the room because I got buried. Was-10k and grinded forever, playing with many people throughout the day. Finally hit a good shoe and made my epic comeback and won 600! No poker was played that day, haha

I’m hopeful this trip will not contain those types of episodes. As a gambler I’m realistic they may occur at any given moment.


Help-- how do I upload pictures?! I go to post a reply to thread, I see all sorts of add links etc. Where is the option to upload pictures?

one thing i've noticed for me is if i play pit games before playing poker it devalues the money. for example, if i start the day with poker, i can play 1/3 or 2/5 and really be excited to try and win $300-$1,000 for the entire day.

but if i start the day with blackjack playing $25-$100 min, where swings can be $300-$1,000+ within 10 minutes, then i start to think "why play poker and take all day to try and win $xx when i can just win it so quickly here"

so what i've tried to do is start with poker and try and get a long session in before playing any pit games. i also find i am less likely to degen away in the pits because i worked hard for that $xx i won at poker (if i won, of course).

Totally agree and really appreciate that. Thanks for the reminder. That wisdom only comes from experience. I will definitely try to start poker first, problem I encounter is that decent games don't really start till later in the day. So what to do till then. Will have to step up my discipline game for sure.

I like the potential for this to go off the rails in either direction...

Quick motivational reminder to self.

General strategy for poker –
Chances will be good that I won’t personally know anyone at my table. Will take first little while to size up table dynamics. Depending how much energy I’m in the mood to exert, play accordingly. Some days it will be loosey goosey aggressive, other days will be nice and tight. Most of the time it’ll be somewhere in the middle, mostly looking to exploit any tendencies I see of particular players.

If game conditions are bad, reminder to self—no need to force since they will very likely not give me the light action I need to balance out my –ev plays. Plan for this will be to grind a bit then just quit and go do something way more fun, like gamboooling!!

If game conditions are good, figure out where my profits will be coming from. Then focus and zone in on whoever it is. Doesn’t matter the source, if it’s a bad player making consistent mistakes or a good player on tilt and opening up vulnerabilities I can exploit.

Reminder to at least play my “B” game and don’t get lazy too often. It’s about winning, not proving my skills versus others. Check the ego. Other people’s opinion of my game is none of my business. Go with the flow, take what the game is giving me, bend but don’t break, minimize tilting situations.
Just win baby.

General strategy for my Baccarat play-
For the love of the bankroll, stay patient!!! Any given loss can quickly spiral out of control. Hit and run if things go well to start. If not, stay in control and good streaks will come. Quit if not in a good mood for whatever reason, have lots of time. Check that ego.

Smile, smile, smile… fake it till I make it. Convince myself to be in and stay in a good mood. A good attitude will make it much easier to play and gamble. Winning will follow.

They won't let me take pics at the tables. Currently -1000. Average bet 500. Played last half of shoe. New shoe in a bit ...

As a baccarat degen I'm certainly looking forward to this. Love the grind of playing shoe after shoe seeing many ppl come and go and catching that nice run for being patient...it's exhaustingly rewarding!

I also feel u on what u said about the food...i do the same thing..if I lose i eat a bunch of cheap crap out of depression lol

Ever have that feeling where you're getting a bad vibe. I didn't really like the table supervisor or the dealer. Nothing personal just didn't feel like they want me to win. So switched table, to a no commission table. Struggled a bit.

Then a beautiful dealer sits down. Anybody relate to this... it's like unconsciously I try extra hard to avoid losing. Started winning, recovered my -3k. Was +500. Then the dealer left...

All downhill from there.
Currently -8k. Playing on credit.

Looking to minimize damage now. Hopefully get within half then quit.
Definitely no poker today.

Epic fail. I got destroyed.

I was close to a comeback at the halfway point. But things ended badly.

I had been on a long winning streak with Vegas and thought I would do a trip report this time. But this loss was inevitable at some point.
I'm going to shut it down till GF arrives Tuesday. And I'm really sorry but shutting down this trip report as well.
Off to find some food.
