Live lesson with pro? Live lesson with pro?

So, I'm new at poker but super fascinated by the depth of thinking that I am learning exists in it. I'm also treating myself to a vegas trip on reward points next month.

Was wondering if there is a way I could pay a pro (a big one, like Phil Ivey) for a live lesson while I'm there? I'm sure I'm not the first person who's thought of this.

Sure, but it's lots of $$$.

Absolutely correct. Here's a website that gives you the cost of booking poker pros.

https://www.allamericanspeakers.com/...er_Players.php

Daniel Negrenau is between $30,000 and $50,000. Gus Hansen is about $20,000 to $30,000. There's lots of others including Chris Moneymake and Greg Raymer. Keep in mind that you want them during the WSOP when they are super busy, so I expect the prices to be on the high side if they are available at all.

Ivey is a private person and primarily wants to be gambling. Everyone has a price, so I suppose if you went to his agent with an open checkbook, it could be arranged.

Give Boski a shout, it'll only cost you $100 an hour.

I would add that a person like Phil Ivey is going to be giving you advice that may be very good at the level that he plays. However, a key concept in poker to exploit mistakes that your opponents make. At the lower levels those mistakes are going to be much different than at the level that Phil Ivey plays. It would probably be more effective and less expensive to find a poker coach that can give you advice that works at the level that you play.

Right now it should be fairly easy to achieve that goal. Book a room at Bellagio, go to Bobby’s Room and tell the guy at the podium that you’re offering to pay $10k to anyone playing in there to give you a private lesson in your room. Pretty sure you’ll find someone for that price. If not, increase the payment until somebody bites.

You can hire Jonathan Little on skype for $300 an hour. Might be more live, but maybe not at the WSOP if you want only a small number of hours.

My favorite part of the (seemingly very out dated) speakers for hire page above:
