Is it true that he still lives in his car? Is it really a Lexus? What year?

I have played with this guy sooo many times at Caesars I couldnt count how many tournaments it has been. At times I have seen him lucksack chip after chip and other times donk them off. There also was a time that we were at a final table together and he didnt want to give the buy in amount back to the bubble, needless to say he bubbled. Also as is everyone is saying he taps the tank like crazy and havent seen anyone get as mad as he does in $60-$100 buy in tournies. Descent guy though when I talked to him. Didnt know he spiked such a big win as last time I heard he borrows money or gets rolled for the donkaments.

I've seen this guy at Commerce or the Bike during tourneys god knows how many times. Didn't realize there was a story, just seemed like your typical degen.

One thing that hasn't really been brought up is that the guy talks incessantly when he plays, giving a running commentary on the hands and the play. He loves to criticize what he considers bad play of others, even if that bad play causes him to win a pot!

I know this from personal experience, he took a shot at me once (verbal, that is). I see him all around the lower level rooms all over Vegas, anywhere there's a $100 or so tournament. Pretty sure he doesn't even have a change of clothes!

This guy is a super tool...I've played with him a few times and all he does is berates players and just overall makes for an unpleasant game. Fk him!

I played a nightly Deepstack with him this year at the World Series. He is an *******, was falling asleep at the table, then berating everyone. In a big pot, I hero called with A high against him, which was obv good. He went nuts! He said, "this fu$&king moron just called with no pair, no nothing" "you dumbass your going to go broke in no time, just giving it away" I responded broke like you? Then he went on to say that he has made millions and lost it all, to dumb pricks like me. I'm pretty mellow but I wanted to kick his ass. Btw I won the tourney...weeee fu Steve!

I always knew this guy as Satellite Steve. I heard a great story about him from a dealer. I have no idea if it's true, but Steve was a dick to me once so...

A few years ago Steve won $5k in a tourney at Caesar's. The tourney had no railbirds to speak of, but in the time it took for him to walk 30 yards from the tournament area to the cashier window he was surrounded by people who had lent him money. They followed him to the cage demanding payment. By the time he was finished paying them off there was nothing left of his score. Steve then walks over to a 1/2 game and asks a guy for a stake.

I play a lot of cash games from 1/2 to 5/10... Before I clicked on the link I was pretty certain I'd recognize this guy and haha of course I did. I then retread the OP post - what In the world is he smoking??

Should be noted I have probably only played against this guy for an hour here and an hour there and only 1/2 NL... I recognize him from his random appearances just walking around and looking pathetic chatting it up with floor or cocktail waitress... Dude is always wearing a plain white t-shirt and old man gym shorts...

Lol...the second I saw the name Steve and read the description I knew that it would be this guy.

Sad to see that this pile of excrement is still telling his education/bond background to anyone who will listen, and that people are still willing to stake this druggie degenerate. Steve is a truly miserable person and as big of a lowlife as you can get.

holy crap, pretty sure I sat next to him at PH last Superbowl Sunday (1-2 NL). The dude talks a lot and he super annoying...if it's the same guy.

He looked like he'd been up for 2 days straight and he was talking on his phone giving his "friend" the play by play of a sick beat he took. He also bragged about the sick blackjack heater he went on for a few K.

Was berating players at the 1-2 table the whole time we played.

Oh just remembered once played with him at ballys.. He would play maybe one orbit and then get up and walk to the pit (within table view) and totally degen it up. Three orbits later he'd be back with some green chips.

I have a genuine dislike for the guy since he normally gives little to no action at the table, so I pointed it out he was in the pit to the whole table and we all had a good laugh about it.

The use of the word Legend in the title of this thread is quite appropriate. It seems like Steve has taken several things like 1. Wearing the same clothes everyday, 2. Berating everyone, 3. Degening it up at both poker and table game, 4. Annoyingly blabbing about anything and everything, and 5. Borrowing money to a whole new level.

I think he brings stories and a funny personality to the LV poker scene, until he sits down at a table with you and then it is plain annoying but he will occasionally build up a stack and donk it all back so he is good for the game.

Just take him with a grain of salt and don't give him a stake.

Keep the thread going.

Can anyone start a new thread about the old Quack Quack guy who does the thing with his tongue? Saw him playing last night and curious what his deal is...

His name is paul margiel, aka X22. World class backgammon player.

Decent but nothing special as a poker player (and freely admits it).

At a table a few months ago some rocket scientist asked Paul "do you think you're a better poker player or better backgammon player?" Paul was reasonably polite in his response, where he told the guy he was once one of the very best backgammon players in the world, and he's now sitting here playing NL1/2 with tourists, so the answer should be pretty obvious.

Paul Magriel is entertaining and a really nice dude. Steve is just beyond pathetic. No comparison between the two IMO.
