I wasn’t planning on going to Vegas this summer, but I recently hit my biggest score ever so plans have changed!! I ran extremely well in my local poker room’s recent $150K guarantee, taking home $27.4K when we did an ICM chop 6-handed. I was the chip leader and got the most (no trophy awarded unfortunately). But I did accumulate this ridiculous stack, a result of the room running out of chips to color up with…




They run this tournament 3 times a year and it keeps getting bigger, but this most recent one went way beyond their expectations!

So I’m flying out late Monday night and staying for a week. I’ve got a tournament schedule lined up already:

If I make Day 2 of the $1500 Omaha 8 tournament, I’ll play the Friday flight of the Gladiator (or Saturday if I make Day 2 of the $1K PLO). I’ve sold 50% of my action as a package for any tournament I play, so hopefully I’ll give some guys back home a few good sweats!!

I got a great deal at NYNY, $182 for 7 nights, resort fees and taxes included.
It’s gonna be mostly tournament grinding, with a few cash sessions if I bust early in the day and don’t feel like jumping in something else. Of course there will also be some pit games (craps, Pai Gow, BJ) with a few sports bets sprinkled in there. Gonna be flying solo this trip for the first time! There’s a few guys from my local room that will also be in town, so I’m sure we’ll hook up for a meal or two.

Just a tip: Take a look at the structure sheet for the WSOP $250 daily HORSE. I played it once last year and it was FAST, even by the standards of a daily. If that's what you like then by all means dive in, but I figured it was worth a word of caution in case you expect there to be a lot of play in that event. If it's the same format as 2022, stacks get very small after a few hours, to the point where it's just pick a hand and pray.

Thanks for the info, haven’t played any of the Daily Deepstacks yet. I added that one primarily because it was a mixed event and about the only one I could find that day. I don’t really mind quick events and who knows how I’ll be feeling by then. Hopefully I’ll be playing Day 2 or 3 of something else and won’t even have to fool with it!

Thanks bro, it was kinda fun when we were playing short handed with 2 tables left to have all those chips! When we went to the 10-handed final table and my view looked like this…

…it wasn’t as much fun anymore. Literally had to carve a spot just to be able go look at my cards. No complaints though, good problem to have!

I just came back from a week long trip w/ a similar budget and struck out unfortunately. I hope yours goes better. glglglgl!

I honestly have no idea. I went on the MGM site to originally book May 29-June 5 and got a rate of like $220 everything included. I ended up not being able to go last week so I called and changed it. Once the customer service agent plugged in the new dates the rate got even cheaper! For some reason they’re only charging me $15.86/night resort fee. I’m getting 4 nights comped and the other 3 nights are less than $60 total with tax. I don’t have super high status with MGM (Sapphire I think) so who knows but I’ll take it.

Thanks - reading your post helped me think about logging into MGM to see what’s available. Hadn’t considered as I only play poker at Bellagio and it’s been a while. Found a rate at MGM Grand that was $300 lower than Signature, $448 all in incl resort fees for 4 nights.

Boarded the plane and ready for departure! Should be in Vegas around Midnight Pacific time. I plan on getting an Uber straight to the Horseshoe so I can get registered for the Omaha-8 event early.

It was after 1 am when I checked in at NYNY. They didn’t have the room I booked available so I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite! Unfortunately, I have to change rooms today and go to a standard room. I went downstairs after checking in and played craps but lost $400 in about 7 minutes so I called it a night. The Omaha 8 tournament doesn’t start until 2 pm, I really wish it started earlier as I’m wide awake now. Updates coming later!!
