I hear ya . . . but Vegas isn't most cities. At least it wasn't.

The Vegas Strip was a special place . . . we left 'most' cities to go to Vegas to escape from the normal violence (and other day to day normalities).

Granted, step outside the strip and its back to normal . . . but who did that!?

Ah, the “part and parcel” argument.

I forgot that one poster ITT said this is all just right wing propaganda and everything is actually fine.

I totally agree, but I have nothing to hide and I'm a middle-aged white woman who will most likely be left alone by security, which is sad but true.

We (my husband and I) will be on the strip from Nov. 17 through the 23 staying at Elara. I'll post back if we notice a big difference from our past trips. Pre-covid we went four or so times a year. Haven't been since last winter.

Yes, I saw that this guy posted that about drug deal, but I have not seen that confirmed anywhere and don't know if true or where he got that info.

Jesus, this is the weakest effort to catch someone I have ever seen. Is the one guard like 80? lol

You think, maybe, he made it up ? You think that Metro actually told him that ?

How much is private security really allowed to do, though? Not disagreeing, just curious. I doubt many of them are too inclined to end up being sued for grabbing someone while making $12 an hour.

Security guards are usually people who couldn’t become real cops anyway.

Why was security talking to that guy? It was probably for something very insignificant. They’re not going to chase down and tackle someone over that. Unless they want to get fired.

Also, I’ve seen a bunch of Vegas cops that look in far worse shape than those security guards. I’ve seen a lot of heavier security guards too. Lots of fat people in the USA.

Hope you have a great time and report back! I think I'm going to wait until the covid stuff goes away and see where things are at that point. I can run over to Shreveport, LA if the gambling bug starts itching too much.

This was the Strip on Saturday. Doesn’t look dangerous IMO.

Someone in the comment section said it looked a lot different than the time they were there in September.

this whole thread is so depressing - come to LV at least once a year and always usually stay at Wynn/Encore.......really hope things can get back to how they were on the strip before all this started going down

It will come back & all this will be a memory.
Unfortunately, I think we have another YEAR of Covid before that happens.

There also was another shooting outside Planet Hollywood, but nobody was hit and they caught the guy, I think he pulled the gun in a fight.

Las Vegas Police have dramatically increased their presence on the Strip starting last weekend. I suspect riff-raff will find themselves getting a quick thumping in the near future.

It only takes one idiot to pull out a weapon for the possibility of someone catching a stray to rise dramatically. Otherwise, that doesn't even draw my attention if I'm in Vegas.

I was just there wed-sat and I didn’t feel sketched out at all, even after midnight on the strip. Everyone for the most part was having a good time. The most miserable, angry people I encounter in Vegas are usually at the poker table hah....
