No, it's called bankroll management. Spending $950 on a mattress simply because you had a $5k upswing would be extremely foolish for a player that's still trying to establish himself as a full time poker player.

How can the casino offer machines that have >100% payout? Why aren't there homeless people, retirees, people who don't want to work at mcDonalds, etc. who have read a basic strategy book and sit there all day and push buttons? I'm assuming you have to hit one of the jackpots to hit the theoretical >100% payout? Andrew said it's "not worth it" but I'm sure for some people it would be.

Pretty sure you will break even over a big sample if you're good and the value mostly comes from the comps. Have fun with that life.

The money you make from VP comes from hitting a royal once per cycle with max bet.
With variance you could go several cycles and not hit the royal.

I've heard that there are video poker games with a progressive jackpot that become +EV once the jackpot hits a certain amount and then players will swarm those machines to try to hit it.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

Ep. 4 is out. By far my shortest yet but will be a lot of these 12-15 min vids as I up the frequency. Unfortunately the hand histories didn't make the cut in this vid as the few I got on camera were just boring and I was unable to film hands in second session (didn't get in trouble or anything just in a spot I couldn't) so instead I go a little into my thoughts on Stop/Loss Limits and Leaving when Up/Locking a Win and my advice may vary a little from the standard.

I've seen that in action at that $5 machine at the Bellagio that is back by the Poker room by the bathrooms to the south of the room past the O theater. They rope it off and people will drop $20,000 - $30,000 into those machines at a time when the JP hits a certain amount.

The progressive jackpots in Pai Gow poker become +EV at around $265k. Not sure about VP.

Full pay deuces is, as far as I know, the best payback machine you'll find in Vegas in terms of ev (not counting progressives that occasionally get high ev). That said, you're only looking at a 100.76% payback, and that's only if you play perfectly. Throw in a bunch of mistakes here and there and you'll easily be playing a losing game.

Most players simply don't want to put in the time to learn perfect strategy, so they play a losing game, so casinos don't care. You can bet that if every 100+% machine was being played 24/7 by people playing perfect strategy, the casino would likely yank them out.

On top of that, the $8-10/hr is not a steady income. Included in that rate is the 4000 credit royal flush, which, if you're unlucky, you may go multiple cycles without hitting, and be stuck a bunch of money.

At the end of the day, the people who are capable of playing mistake free vp for hours on end can usually find better plays than settling for a variance-filled $8-10/hr.

The payout is like 100.0% or 100.1%.

And they can offer it because it still makes profit because most people don't play 100% perfect. And these machines sometimes have reduced points or tier credits.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

@ wheys latest:

Brah, need to get to the meat faster. Also, never say "nothing interesting really happened" in the first 2 minutes. Haven't you seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High? "No matter where you are, act like it's the greatest place in the world."

Just, constructive criticism ... looking good, other than that. Also, lighting is bad. When you are walking around and talking to the camera like Trooper does, bad lighting and not being a particularly good looking dude is totally excusable. I'm jealous of your hair, is really what it comes down to, but you can make yourself look better to the laaaaadies if you seem more "on the go" or at least have some better lighting. Try and seek out a better place, and a new place each video for your talking to the camera parts ... Boom, more interesting vlog. Also, don't give us half a shirt to read.

The music, driving scene was f-yeah brah! But then ... "We didnt get it on camera" .... dude, just tell us about the game. Again, never say it isn't interesting, never point out the flaws.

I like the Q and A parts of course, but again, location might be better. Could make it shorter. It's a fast food country, we want all the same info, without a wasted second.

So, if you were a student of mine I would say: cut as much as you can, better locations, fresh locations for the talking to the camera stuff, more of the music montage stuff, cause that was the best part. Have an arc, though, have a story line going into it and never say it isn't interesting.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

FredEx/Trooper97fan... You should start your vlog like you said you were going to. You bailing and moving out of Vegas now? Waddup?

Whey... He is right never downplay your vlog.. Specially in the beginning

Also I get tilted when picture frame changes. Your's is not bad because your analyzing hands but I have seen vloggers change picture frame while walking or something. Jake has even done it. Is that cuz you are filming on phone vs camera? I like clean large picture through out the video like Trooper and Andrew. Looks more professional

Thx Fred all valid points/good advice. Guess I was a little bummed out I didn't have any good hands on camera but been trying to compensate in last few sessions.

For the same reasons all those people tend to suck at poker and aren't winning money at the poker table. It takes effort to win. It is really hard for people to study even one book when they're so used to being lazy. When being lazy becomes a habit, it's really hard to break. These people are also not nerds so they may not even be used to reading books, and are less likely to understand the material that they read.

Pretty sure I just saw a GT500 in the lane beside me clip a truck pulling out. Obvs vlog material but couldn't bring myself to tape that sort of pain/carnage.

That was the number of subs a week ago. I just checked and today Trooper is at 13,968 subs. A recent MGM video has over 74,000 views. Other recent videos have over 29k, over 17k, and over 14k views.

Subs for Andrew are at 16,699 but people in the comments section are saying they found Trooper after watching Andrew.
