Roast King

If you only have one minute, catch the 14 minute mark.

This is way to long a clip to watch, and yes redundant.

I managed to get thru it by dividing it up in junks.

Bottom line: Roast King doesn't like Trooper

It really, really seems like Roast King has a personal beef with Trooper. I wonder what happened between them.

Yes, although I found his argument the game also needs professionals rather unconvincing.

I might just be a beef of principle. It seems like Roast King sees Trooper as a person trying to scam the system. Kind of like people are super anti-welfare unless you actually have a disability, are old (not 45 going on 55 but senior citizen stuff), or are actually in need for a short amount of time till you get back on your feet.

Roast King seems to see Trooper as being lazy and milking the charity system enabled by his fans. Instead of getting a job, Trooper wines about losing money at poker because of variance and bad luck. He also feels that Trooper exaggerates the amount of time and effort he puts into his vlogs "for his fans". And he definitely sees an issue with Trooper selling his vlog as a journey of chasing one's dreams of poker greatness (which moving to Vegas to play poker would make people think, no matter how much Trooper says it's a "lifestyle vlog" or whatever he calls it) when in reality he sees Trooper chasing an easy buck from handouts from his fans.

Roast King seems to feel that between those things plus Trooper collecting $250 a month from Patreon (without offering anything to supporters after mentioning a few things and then going silent -- typical Trooper), asking for gift cards and donations via US mail, making money off the same viewers with overpriced merchandise, advertising for a range of products from apps, to other's apparel, to water filters (wtf?!?), and collecting money from YouTube views, that Trooper is exploiting people's kindness to pay for his lifestyle.

It's kind of like a non-homeless, able bodied individual asking for donations with a sign at a busy intersection all day and then hopping into his car and driving home instead of getting a real job. Or the same person collecting welfare at the same time instead of getting a real job.

I totally get it and people have been recently using YouTube to bust the fake beggars so this is pretty much the same. Except that Trooper is using YouTube to beg on a whole new level. It's an interesting situation and I can't wait to see it unfold, which leads me to believe that Trooper (while not clever enough to pull something like this off) might be playing a huge double reverse secret probation prank on everyone by being Roast King to create drama to drive traffic to his channel.

P.S. While I am not Roast King (calm down white knights), I definitely see his point of view and think this will get interesting. Just like Trooper has the right to release his video campaign, Roast King has the right to release his anti-Trooper campaign.

Let the fireworks go off on this 4th of July weekend!

I'm looking forward to seeing Roast King show how easy it is to produce a video for YouTube. This has been Tim's BIG excuse for years and his argument about how he has such a great work ethic (funniest thing he says aside from him giving life and time management advice in the recent vlog.)

Yea, the time management was the best, from someone who rolls out as the sun sets and stops at Starbucks and then somewhere else to eat and then somewhere else to play poker.

Hi Roast King! Regardless of who RK is, it's obvious that there is some kind of personal beef there between him and Trooper. Yes, the Patreon thing is questionable but most of the stuff he rants on about in that video is petty nonsense.

"He's 43 years old and grinding 1/2!"
"He never talks about friends or family!" .
"He threw away a coffee that he bought with donation money!"
"He has poor self-discipline!"
"Hey did I mention that he's FORTY THREE years old?"

And if RK really is out there trying to be a good guy and expose scammers/fraud and make the world a better place then focusing his time and energy on Trooper97 is one of the worst ways to do so.

Roast King has really made this interesting though. I still love the fact that he is fighting back after Trooper was gloating about what happened.

I find the talking about Trooper's relationship with his father to be especially distasteful. I don't think any of us have any idea what that dynamic is like and to speculate about it being an abusive one is pretty irresponsible.

And I'll give Trooper this...he drove across country to see his mom for Mother's Day...which I thought was an understated part of TAA that I liked.

re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

So people want to stake Trooper in a WSOP event (either an $888 event or the $10K main event or something in between) and people also want to stake Neeme as well.

I totally think that staking Andrew in an event (starting out with something small like the $888 or a $1K event) would be cool and is worthwhile for the following reasons:

- he cashed in the Colossus this year so he has a chance of doing well
- he's a good cash game player and his skills can translate to tournaments as well
- he will make a cool video showing the hands, he can live tweet some status updates if people ask for that (even if it spoils the vlog, I guess) because he's shown that he is accommodating and willing to do things that fans ask for
- he produces good quality videos and puts time into his work so he is deserving of donations from fans
- he would show lots of gratitude and would genuinely have gratitude for people staking him in an event
- he's a good person and it's always nice to do something nice for a good person (I'd chip in $20 bucks for sure)

I totally don't think that Trooper deserves a stake for the following reasons:

- he busted in the FIRST round of the HU tournament he played at Golden Nugget so he sucks at tournament poker (while that is a small sample size I think he's blown a bunch more in tournaments as well)
- he's a BAD cash game player so he's pretty much dead money in all poker related situations (business situations too I would say)
- he probably won't even make a video about it or the vlog would have him mention in passing how he busted on some random hand without any details so the people who donated would not know how their money got wasted (I mean spent) PLUS if people asked for twitter updates, there will be one or two updates and then he would forget about it because he simply DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT HIMSELF (he's even got a song about this very fact)
- he really doesn't put much effort into his videos anymore and isn't deserving of people's actually earned money
- he wouldn't really thank anyone for staking him and even if he said "thank you" quickly in the video, I highly doubt he would mean it because he feels that he deserves to play with other people's money
- he's a bad person that has been given way too many chances by people and doesn't deserve anyone else's helpful energy or resources

Those are my feelings for two individuals that are doing the same thing (playing poker and vlogging as their sole source of income) but doing it on totally different scales not because of luck, outside funds, or any other reason except for their difference of humbleness, work ethic, gratitude and attitude towards life, positive versus negative general thinking, and their approach to other people in the world.

Does anyone DISAGREE with this post? If so, what specifically don't you agree with?

re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

While Andrew seems to be a good poker player, I am concerned that he has identified a flaw in his game (long sessions never end well) and it's been shown multiple times in the vlog but he keeps doing it.

I don't know if this is because he only plays a long time to chase wins and possibly gets some money back in the tail end of his sessions or if he's playing poorly after 8+ hours at the table and the tail end of his long sessions make things worse.

I hope he looks over his notes, identifies which is the case, and plugs this hole because a few -$1000+ days are starting to add up to a downswing.

We want to see poker vloggers make money and are rooting for you Neeme.

While I live in Vegas and don't smoke, just curious to see what's happening in these shops. I'll be heading to a shop later this week once things get less busy there but I'm sure such a vlog would appeal to many people's interests.

The vloggers don't even have to buy anything on camera or use the product but just show the inside of a few shops and what the "shopping" experience entails.

I recall him playing a long session in Michigan a few months back where he started out stuck, then booked a sizable win.

Also listened to some of that long Roast King video. He makes some valid points, and makes some terrible ones. Dudes relationship with his dad, and speculating about alcoholism and abuse is just uncalled for. Throwing a terrible coffee away and trying to make that a thing is pretty bad as well.

The decent points imo, is pointing out the trooper really doesnt give a **** about anyone but himself. Thats very true and he proves this point over and over.

Why wont trooper address his age? I find that very strange as well, unless Trooper is just ashamed of where he is in his life at this point.

Why would anyone be jealous of Trooper? A common theme stating by both Trooper and all of his fans is that anyone who hates or trolls Trooper is jealous of him. There is literally nothing about Troopers life that anyone should be jealous of. He has nothing, and has done nothing.

I am looking forward to the editing video that RK says he'll be putting out. Trooper does emphasize how much time he puts into these videos.

Again, I didnt watch the full RK video, just my thoughts on the parts I did happen to see.

LinkedIn says he got his Bachelors from Michigan State in 2003.

So around 21+14 = 35

re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I'm in my early 30s and find that I can't friggin tell anyone's age anymore. every person in my age range looks like they can fit in a 15 year window. some girls that are 18 look like they're 28. Some guys who are 26 look like they are 40. i have no concept of age anymore.

Like if i had to guess Brad Owen was like 28? but he's good friends with that Chuck guy who looks like he's in his mid 30s. Boski is what? 34? no idea. i would have guessed Neeme was 32 with a gun to my head

Trooper i guess i "know" b/c it's been said so many times in this thread, but i would have bought anywhere from 38-50
