I'm probably going to be called snobby or out of touch or something but it seems prudent as an adult to have $1000 credit available in case you need to travel or make a significant purchase in an emergency. Just having that as cash instead of that cash being flexible for spending or investing seems fiscally foolish imo
I haven't had a credit card in like 10 years. Don't see the point. I use a debit card for gas stations (more convenient), utility bills, and online purchases. I use cash for everything else.

Really? I was looking into staying there a while back and prices for MGM National Harbor were insane. I would have definitely stayed somewhere else but don't recall any of the options being very cheap.

I may have misunderstood but I think he said $160 per night for 2 nights ($320) plus the parking. Obviously dumb to pay that much when there are likely just as nice rooms nearby for much less.

If the losing continues and he gets back to Vegas and has to pay all these bills and catch up on his other bills, he will be feeling it.

Well some cards get you 3% back on gas and groceries and others like Citi card you get 2% back on everything. So just put everything you can on them and get the cash back.

Trooper doesn't shop around for hotels as we all know. It's as if he thinks the casino hotels are the only option. Weird because he said that in the past he stayed in all sorts of motels in Cherokee..but apparently that was only because the deals were made through the casino.

Yeah, I understand. They make a lot of money off that too but certainly if you are diligent about it you will come out ahead. It wouldn't be worth my time to bother. Kind of like those reward cards some fast casual places will offer you: make 10 purchases and then receive a free taco/sandwich/burger/platter. I'd rather not bother with it.

This plus the credit flexibility. If I need to fly back east last minute I don't want to pay all those expenses in cash right away when I can get cash back putting it on something like my citi card and pay it off in full a couple of weeks later.

No worries D.C. Because you totally get it and seem to have the financial ability to have the cards you just choose to life a simpler life in that part

also iirc, the fraud protection on cc is much better/easier to deal with than debit.

Charge everything = $600+ in annual rebate.

Open credit cards and hit their 3 month bonuses where you get $200 cash back if you spend $1000 in the first 3 months or $500 statement credit when you spend $3000 in the first 3 months. If you do a few a year, it adds up to a few thousand dollars easy.

Sometimes it's not cash back or statement credit but miles on Southwest (better than cash for me) and United or hotel points for Marriot (100K offer now) or Hilton or SPG.

Tons of great deals to be had if you can organize it all and pay everything off in time.

It also helps your credit score. Mine's in the 830-840 range for the past few years doing these offers.

Yes and mr ducks doesn't even need the credit for travel emergencies in this case because his points are covering flight and room

I call bull**** on that credit score.

You can have the most perfect credit record for 50 years and your score will be 810-820.

Mr. Ducks is so full of crap..

I'm all for trooper jumping on the tshirt train(albeit somewhat late) but he really should have done some due diligence that logo/name. Maybe a simple poll on twitter with a couple different logos or even just asking some close friends. Honestly, that OG logo he had years ago I thought was the best one by a huge margin.

he wouldn't take the advice/suggestion. Trooper Ware is a bad name, bad pun, and the logo is crap... but again, he's not gonna listen to anyone.

Yeah .. The Old School retro logo was the best like in red lettering and black. I may buy that on t-shirt. Not a fan of new logo.

I think realizes that and I believe he stopped putting it in his intros. I don't recall logo in last vlog

Prices at MGM are insane still. You can stay in a pretty nice place in Alexandria for like $95 a night though most of those still charge parking. That's < 20 min from MGM. You can stay close to MD Live for around $115 a night and no parking charge.

Horseshoe Baltimore is the smallest of the poker rooms in the DC to Baltimore area. It's nicer than MD Live but it'd be my 3rd place choice if I were visiting the area.

You're right. It really is crazy for Trooper to stay there. However, I suppose since MD Live doesn't have it's own hotel he didn't even consider that as an option which is quite strange considering discount hotel booking sites like Priceline.com have been around for close to 20 years.

On a side note, I was really surprised to see Trooper take Uber on a previous video. Given how much he was up on the trip I suppose he was feeling like a big baller.
