The sheer joy on his face when he discover a new way to "beat the system" or a new way to get some free food. Just legendary.

I love that he's like oh we'll see when I quit and whether that aligns with when Panda closes like he's not setting multiple alarms on his phone to alert him when he needs to quit and wait in front of Panda like a hungry puppy begging for scraps.

Just like this current challenge where the hours played at each room just so happens to mirror the exact number of hours to qualify for each promo and not a minute more unless there's an admin error. He's not a promo grinder. It just seems that way.

He's not quitting cause there's free food available. Just good timing. He's also a tree hugger so he's doing his part by not letting food go to waste.

Not before he had to outlast 1 player to earn $200 from the player appreciation tournament at Bally's. See how annoyed he got that another regular showed up and late registered at the last second, just like him. But I can safely say that no poker player has ever structured there entire life around poker room promos more than Rice. If they were to ever dry up it would be a bigger disaster then losing our on the daily voucher drinks.

He's already set up for the next phase of his poker career, transiting from "poker pro" to poker dealer.

Just wondering what coping excuses he's going to use when he becomes a full time dealer.

"Health insurance costs are out of control. If I work full time in a casino, I get offered health insurance. That's a huge cost savings!"

"Casinos offer an EDR. If I eat before work, at work and after work while taking home condiments and other foods I can wrap in a napkin, I can drop food expenses to zero!"

"With my employee discount, I can shop for clothes in the gift shop at a significant cost reduction!"

"Sleeping in my car is way safer when it's in the employee parking garage."

It will never be about the money he can make dealing vs playing cause you know, he makes more than he needs from the Horseshoe promos and Westgate promos. That would mean he's not making a living playing 1-3 poker which apparently is a huge flex.

Never understood why it's such a huge deal to consider yourself a professional poker player when you're making minimum wage at the lowest stakes.

I think Rice has said that the Horseshoe Freeroll pays $150 to the top 36 players and all payouts are the same.

I want to go out there and play that Horseshoe freeroll just to say: No chop. Let's play it out!

Just to see all the nits heads explode.

Pays 36 spots, everyone $200. That is why he was pissed because there was 36 and it would have been over with $200 paid out, but the late guy barely made it in time to make it 37 and they had to do hand for hand until 36.

This dealing job can't come quick enough for Rice. He looks as though he's almost at rock bottom, planning on chasing down leftover food from restaraunts and only having 1.5 hours sleep so he could make that promo tournament. There's no way he should've been driving in that condition, it was clear from the video that he was barely awake.

That's weird that they get one shirt. Are they supposed to buy more of them? Can they get one that looks 95% the same from a discount store? Or will Diesel's laundry budget skyrocket by 900%?

He's been planning on dumpster diving ever since Herbs and Rye told him about it. So it's not recent events, I'd bet.

my gosh, you have to sit and grind at Horseshoe for 30 hours or whatever so you can come back to win $200? that's miserable

But the games and pots are so juicy, bro. Especially when you get to count and keep records of all of the pots you weren't in.

Don't numbers get you horny?

30 hours of 1/2 nl in Horseshoe sounds like a special kind of torture.

And then to top it off you have to come back early in the morning on no sleep and waste more time to get that money.

Yep, big ones.

You are going to have to add a couple of zeros.

MY thoughts as a value-orientated shopper:

- Paying full price ($4.50) for a bottle of Sweet Baby Rays instead of stocking up at WinCo, where the same bottle is probably $2. Shame
- Good tip on Panda Express. My guess would be the noodles would have maximum EV. I've been to PE like twice in my entire life so I'm no expert, but I had a bad orange chicken experience, never touching that or any sweet flavored fried chinese chicken dishes. My local safeway deli has started doing this; the chinese counter has like orange, pineapple, general tsos, mango, all premade fried chicken fritters with the worst sickly sweet sauces
- Someone commented ITT that they enjoy chili with rice. I'm the same way, I think rice + chili is great. However, plain diced generic tomatoes from a can straight into rice is no where close

If rice treats the players at the table like he does people in the comments, I'm afraid we're headed towards disaster. Unless he's able to morph that persona into some sort of gimmick

Someone in the comments said it’s 15 hours at Horseshoe (Ballys) to qualify for the PAT tournament.

Yes it's 30hrs for the Westgate $300 rakeback promotion. Tragically Rice ended up doing 32hrs, due to him not knowing how many hours he had already logged. As a stickler for value you can imagine just how frustrated he was about this!

Correct, two tournaments per week, 15 hours each, and they also charge a $10 fee for the dealers when you register. They also pass the hat for the dealers at each table when you get paid out, which is another $5-10. So really about $180 2x per week. It was 63 or 64 entries the one time I did it, so not a guaranteed payout. I would count on $6-8/hr rakeback over the long term from this promo.

Brutal:
The Orleans Casino gives out one white shirt to new poker dealer employees.
How cheap can you get?
I imagine a hairy guy like Rice works up a healthy odor pretty quickly, and I'm talking a deep odor.

That’s more than some grinders make after playing 1-2 for years. More than $6 an hour is a lot to those players.

And it’s not much less than winning an entire stack so from a 1-2 nits point of view that’s a lot. Don’t bring up the idea of playing 2-5 to them, or even playing 1-3 at the Wynn. Those games are so big that it terrifies them to play in them.

It's 15 hours.

And the term "miserable" as it applies to poker players is trademarked by Diesel.

That must have been hilarious , a fold-fest of epic proportions.

How long did it take to bust one guy ?

Can imagine people folding everything including aces. There really would be very little incentive to play normally
