His poker vlog literally does not document his poker profit from 2023 or 2024. But don't worry it does have detailed session stats from Council Bluffs in 2014.

The guy purposefully avoids action 1-3 games and refused to play even the best 2-5 because the variance is too high. I would be blown away if he was wagering more than $100 on sports bets in the last two years.

Yeah, cause its not like he is documenting himself losing his shyt completely multiple times whenever he loses a buyin at 1/3 in his own vlog on youtube.

Last time this occured he had to run back to his room to detilt and regain his composure before being able to continue playing.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The people in this thread have their own issues and have chosen diesel as the person to vent their frustrations on and diesel also has his own issues which has lead to him choosing to make $6 an hour playing 1/3 rather than utilizing his education to make 6 figures+ a year.

There's no doubt he has a pretty sizeable portfolio, dude is one of the most frugal/cheap people I've seen. If anyone is stashing away money it's Diesel.

I question how someone with a degree in statistics would decide that dividend stocks are the holy grail and wouldn't understand retirement accounts so dude has his own weird biases and limitations.

Diesel is going to be fine, he will have most of his expenses covered by youtube income eventually and might even find that dealing is his calling and start living a more normal life. The people in here will move on to another vlogger.

I think it's cool he can take a flight to a random city whenever he wants and gets to walk around and explore. I'm not surprised he thought that the ducks were uncooked, that's just Diesel, smart in some ways but not in other ways.

You act like detilting and regaining composure is a bad thing, not everyone is an emotionless robot poker machine that can play optimally at all times.

I mean, during his downswing a few months back, he made a video whining about 10+ standard spots all in where he lost. If he really understands the statistical probabilities of all of those spots, it would be water off a ducks back. However, it was video after video about how can all these hands not hold up.

He ends days early when he's lost too much, and which is something a scared fish does, not a shark. You don't leave good games in which you have an edge. You don't need a statistics degree to grasp that one.

0% chance that Rice was betting thousands on Sports. It's super clear from his videos that he's a life nit. If he was actually a profitable sports bettor, he'd make far more at that. In fact, that "$150k" would be a good bankroll to make $500 bets. (Betting $3000 on 1 game when that represents more than 1% of your betting bankroll is incredibly stupid IMO).

You want us to believe that a guy who can lose $2500 on a sports bet without blinking is also the same guy that cries about $200 all ins where villain gets there? Make it make sense.

It feels more like this is you posting, Rice. Building yourself up through this supposed "childhood friend" the same way Kevin Durant does on Twitter.

I heard rumors that Diesel was interviewing to become the general manager of the 49ers.

The dealing interview was just a smokescreen so other NFL teams won't catch wind of this and try to poach him.

I agree. I watch his videos because I see a guy who's a bit quiet, socially awkward, but overall a good dude. Obviously is smart, but doesn't seem to be taking max advantage of that, ie. not getting a job in law where he'd 10x what he makes in poker. The thing is though, he's just a guy trying to make it in life. He's doing it on his own terms, and if he made $6/hr last year and is happy with a few cigars here and there and the occasional road trip around the US, so what?

It does seem like there's a lot of people in here who are posting in here 30 seconds after the new Diesel video is up. Sadly, those losers are relieved to find that someone out there is doing worse than they are. Possibly they're actually punching up, and the sad attempts to "look down" on every aspect of Diesel's life is their way of pretending they're actually crushing it in comparison.

LOL. Talk about projection. $150k is not hitting it big, it's less than one year's salary for an average Ivy League grad in his mid-thirties. Rice's play style is so exploitable that he has to switch tables and rooms to escape everyone who's on to his nittiness.

While this is true you shouldn't have to go running back to your hotel room after losing a buy in. It's better to leave than play tilted, but you're always going to play super scared and have a very low win rate if "downswings" this small have this kind of effect on you.

This of course.

Losing your shyt after losing a $200 buyin in a 1/3 game when playing for a living/or even seriously for parttime income is completely laughable and is showing you have massive mental leaks.

Welcome to 2+2! I appreciate you taking the time to go back through the thread and read our comments. If you have some free time I think it would be helpful if you watched the video blog series Diesel has been putting out for the past couple of years. Particularly the last 12-18 months he has really been struggling. Even with giving up food and lodging for short periods of time he has been unable to earn enough from poker to meet his expenses. He’s even had to turn to early withdraws from his retirement accounts and mysterious “other income” to pay his bills. As the old saying goes “poker is a hard way to make an easy living”. Opponents get better every year, rake only goes up, and inflation really hurts when you don’t get the annual COL raise. If you’re really his childhood friend it might be worth checking in with him to make sure he’ll make it until income from his new job starts rolling in.

As for the therapy thing; I ’m already on it. We’ve had a few conversations on why I don’t enjoy watching vlogs but can stomach watching a few of Diesel’s every month. We think it’s a bit of negative reinforcement in that watching him reminds me what it was like to be up against the wall financially and constantly unsure if I was good enough to play for a living. We’ve decided the occasional indulgence is acceptable as long as it doesn’t become my primary means of finding motivation. Really appreciate the concern though. I hope you’ll keep posting, you could be a great resource for our community.

Lmaoo what a perfect illustration of the stupidity of this thread. Do you think I pulled that game out of thin air? He’s wagered 2 months of your salary on a single giants/ cowboys game. You literally have no idea what your talking about

Lmao are you insinuating he doesn’t get his hours in? If he gets up after a beat from time to to time what’s the issue? That’s actually smart, he comes back and gets his hours in every week. If you’d like to argue that I’ll gladly take that argument

Again, reading comp not a strong suit of this chat. I said 150k+ it could easily be 250. You think a 33 year old with 200k in a portfolio not withstanding cash and assets is not a lot? Are you living in the same world as everyone else?

🤣🤣🤣 yea man you caught me. Again, 150k+ WITHOUT CASH AND ASSETS. Read people read. You’re right tho, it wasn’t 2500. I’ve seen him wager 4k on a single cowboy giant game and win. The facts won’t change bc you refuse to accept what I’m telling you. Back to your disullions

I own a home and can eat fruit and vegetables when I want. when I travel to SF I eat more than one large piece of bread and hummus. I can shower when I want. I don't rely solely on comps from nitty poker play to survive day to day.

he plays poker for like $8/hour including promos and comps, for thousands of hours

if he is as smart and wealthy as you claim he is, I have never seen anybody waste their life and live below their opportunity than El Diesel / Rice / Nomad.

I hope you find peace brother. I promise you, el diesel is financially strong. Just simply the most frugal man you ever met. He use to post his net worth in 9th!! Grade on his aim profile. He was 14 years old with 40k in the bank.

You simply can’t accept that he could live exactly like you do. He has the money to do so. He CHOOSES to live like he does. This is not a hard concept. You are much closer to the park bench than he is
