I wonder if his whole persona about being the best at everything despite literally being a homeless vagrant is really trying to hide some deep insecurities and thats part of what keeps him at 1-2, and why he freaks out when he loses even a small amount of money, because he thinks hes not worthy.
People with money, dont go to the horseshoe or the flamingo or whatever other small stakes rooms he plays at, westgate, sahara etc. People with money stay at the Wynn, they stay at the aria, however that in turn draws players who are better.
At the end of the day, in poker youre sort of living off the fat of the land in the sense that you need the fish to come donate. So many times you play and play with regs at the 5-10s and the 10-20s of the world, and then like manna from heaven a guy will appear and lose 10k in 20 minutes then go off into the night never to be seen again, and those are hte moments you get at the Wynn and at the Aria that i dont think you get the equivalent thing at the horseshoe, at the horseshoe you get the pool hustler degen type come in and maybe bluff it off, maybe get the nuts and stack some old guy who hasnt played a hand in 2 hours. and then lock it up or cash out. And i do think the same thing happens at all levels at Wynn and Aria, my first time in vegas i played 1-3 at the Wynn and basically that happened, im playing with a bunch of local grinders i thought at the time talking about the weather in February being nice and stuff and then some euro partiers came with their girlfriends, and they brought the party and lost some money and then went off into the night. And they were super fun, unless you were one of the withered regs who had his rent money on the table, the el diesel type really. They were not happy. But thats such a key component of the Wynn Aria games that i feel like never ever happens at these other places. Maybe could happen at the Mandalay i guess, i think that is a lot nicer of a place than horseshoe and they actually have a club and kindve a scene, its not just for retired people. Maybe you get that at the westgate with sporting events too idk, but seems like that stuff always is happening at wynn or aria. And its also just like ok, youre a millionaire adrenaline junky, are you going to go to the Wynn? which has insane hot girls at all times, is extremely nice with everything they have, is a party atmosphere, or are you going to the horseshoe, where they have a hot dog restaurant outside and a giordanos that you cant even order carry out from unless its an individual pizza you get from the bottom level. I really dont know why anyone would play there to be honest, you know exactly what youre going to get there, grinder types, retirees, people playing for promos and freerolls and high hand jackpots and whatever else they have going on, i really just dont get it.
This reminds me towards the end of me playing NL seriously maybe 6-7 years ago I'm in some dirt 5/10 nl game at Bellagio.
I'm gonna leave on the next dealer but some total random sits down and starts making it 200-300 to go almost every hand. He dumps an easy 20k in an hour.
Of course half these miserable regs still have their headphones on and won't say a word.
He's sitting on my direct left and we have a few drinks.
There's a hand where the on the turn 1 seat bot slides out 2 stacks of 10 dollar chips while whispering something to the dealer with about 1000 more behind, all in 10 dollars chips bc yea hes that kinda guy. Guy on my left calls with a pure gutter nothing else.
Now one seat says that he said all in before he slid the chips out. Dealer is like oh he said all in.
Wtf.
Literally nobody heard him.
They call the floor.
The corrupt floor which always made shady rules for the regs tells the guy he can leave the 400 and fold or call the all in.
Naturally this guy is pissed off.
I tell him if he folds I'll give him the 400.
He goes in his pocket and takes out 150k in 25k chips and says "I don't care about 400 dollars but what the **** kind of game is this"
Decides to call it off.
No justice he doesn't hit the gutter and he leaves.
I tell seat one what a piece of **** he is.
I swear half the table didn't even know what happened since they're so entrenched in catching up on Netflix on their tablets.
Some other guy tells me "buddy you gotta do what you gotta do" referring to seat 1s move.
I'm like yea you idiots do have to resort to **** like that bc these games suck so much 95 percent of the time. You get a guy who plays like that maybe once a year and can't even give him a halfway good time.
I have not been in that poker room since.
Vegas regs are the absolute worst.
Rice for all his quirks and trying to tell the Trooper what he said 7 years ago today on his way to Starbucks is more enjoyable to be around than most of them. That's how bad they are.
