When he's working he will promote those playing in cash games to jump into the tournaments if the registration is low and people will register. He talks to top players like they are his friends, not just another buck or tip. He's always got a smile and enjoys what he does. He volunteers to work on his days off if they are short, stay late if it's busy and he's needed. He's very easy to work with. He is proud of the company he works for and represents them often, always telling individuals where they can play some great games and what great incentives his room has. He is, by every definition, the best dealer out there!
The quote should say: "Evelyn, HIS WIFE, says"

No judgement but I'm surprised so many people in here think 50 hours in a week is a hard goal to accomplish.

thetrooper97 hitting 60 of the 100 hour challenge is not money in the bank

trooper is gonna have to play 4 hrs a day min to hit that

I predict a "sick day" is coming for the trooper

For Trooper it is a hard goal. For other players, it is realistic and just depends on other life commitments/activities. If a guy has a full time job plus wife and kids, it would be pretty tough if not impossible to get 50 hrs plus adequate sleep.

For Trooper, I honestly have no idea how much time his vlogging takes everyday. Maybe 4 hours? But he isn't efficient in getting hours in or have enough discipline to force himself to do a full 8hr session if he gets hungry, tired, wins too much, or loses too much. He has way too many excuses that cut his sessions short. Plus if he clocks in at 6pm and out at 2am, he doesn't actively play for 8hrs. He only gets like 4.5-5hrs of poker in which baffles me because it is so much wasted time. Plus, if I were at his table, that would be a dead seat way too often!

True good point, I'm not married and no kids so I guess that's why it just seems so easy to me.

Since Troop prob still lurks this thread I wanted to throw out a couple book recommendations for him (or anyone that is having trouble with goal setting and achievement). These books helped push me in the proper direction mentally to really achieve some great stuff. Not only physical goals like marathon completion and triathlon training but also other goals like going back to school for a second degree to change career trajectories.

1. The War of Art
-by Steven Pressfield

2. Ego is the Enemy
-by Ryan Holiday

3. The Obstacle is the Way
-by Ryan Holiday

Great reads for pushing yourself, eliminating procrastination, and setting/achieving goals.

By the way, some of y'all need to stop sayin 100 hours in 2 weeks sitting at a poker table is some gigantic feat. I'm sure many of us work 50 hours a week and still have time to be productive individuals. Trooper is just lying to himself a large portion of the time. By preemptively rationalizing failure, he's already set himself up for disappointment. The guy comes up with one excuse after another. It's a very childish point of view.

Stop trying to distract trooper from reaching his goals. You know he doesn't have time to read any of those.

Troop is running pretty well during this challenge. You would think that would help motivate him to put in more hours.

These are some amazing reads. #1 & #2, I haven't read #3. A sales trainer I had a long time ago with the Cardone Group made us all read Ego Is The Enemy and everyone I've ever met that's read that book says they have become a better person after it. That's one of my go to's for a long flight.

There's this thing that people love to do which I call "fake busy". It's spending an exorbitant amount of time telling strangers how busy you are who aren't affected at all by your day to day life. When in fact, you're not busy at all, you're just busy crafting an image of being busy. It still triggers the reward system in your brain that you're accomplishing something, but it's a recipe for spinning wheels forever. That was a bad habit that took me years to break.

There's always a way to make time for something if you really want it. Trooper just can't wake up early enough to do that. If that step one can't get fixed, it's going to be Groundhog Day for him for a long time.

It must be clear to most, that an overwhelming amount of regular posters in this thread think that Trooper

- shows all signs of a poor moral habitus,
- acts immaturely,
- has no self-control,
- has no spine,
- tries and generally fails as deceiving himself and the world, and
- mainly is to pity and/or despise.

My two questions are:

1. Why do these posters feel the need to repeat these points over and over again, substantiated by critique of any new (yet, in the eyes of these posters disappointingly repetitive) undertaking of the Trooper?

2. Why is reading this misery of a tread like crack cocaine to me?

These are not rhetorical questions ... I'm truly puzzled

If he doesn't plan on staying at his current location very long why would he buy furniture? It would be a pain in the ass to move or sell. He's doing the smart thing and keeping his foot print small so he can move anytime he wants with ease.

Honestly, I think most people are handling a discussion in a pretty civil manner this go round. If anything it's a good indicator to those on the fence about taking this road on how hard it is, how disciplined you have to be to make this lifestyle work.

Andrew the vlogs you are putting up have a great balance to them. Good stuff! I was curious if you would speak to what got you into poker, how long you have been playing and just really what got you started down the path you are currently taking?

Thanks for the solid content.

Getting a studio vs a large 1 bedroom would have been the smart move.

I REALLY liked Andrew's latest vlog. Using a split screen for hand discussion was good, but using that technique to show him in the elevator and leaving the bar and walking around was AWESOME...even artistic. Andrew's vlog has the signs of someone who has an eye for movie/video editing and creating some high quality stuff. If I were him, I'd consider meeting with Casey Neistat (and other successful YoutTubers) next time he goes out to NYC (or wherever). I'm sure Neistat would grab a green drink with him and give him some advice on YouTubing.

The content is awesome too! It's the perfect mix of poker and non poker stuff. Thanks for the tip about the bar at the Mandarin Oriental. I'll be taking the GF there and also relatives when they come visit.

Questions:

The last Q&A were awesome and I don't have any questions that aren't TOO personal so I figure I'll ask and see whatever he is comfortable sharing.

How much does he make hourly/annually? How does he save/financially investment in terms of retirement and wealth management? Does he have a retirement account set up?

How does he do taxes?

Where does he see himself in 5 years? Is poker the plan long term or is it a short term career till something else comes along? Is he looking for something else actively now?

How does his GF/fiance feel about him playing poker? What about her parents?

Keep on vlogging! I didn't think a poker related vlog could go mainstream but after a dozen vlogs, I can see Andrew going mainstream and getting 6 or even 7 figure subs!
