Look for a new place ?

Does the Gold Coast still have a liquor store on the casino floor ?

Today's El Diesel video of him eating only a Burrito for the day and talking about playing more hours to have enough to eat something else, reminded me of decades ago hanging around the local pool room, there was a young hustler that would not allow himself to eat anything until he won the money from someone to pay for it first. lol

I mean the kid shot lights out, just a matter of finding someone that didn't know him or giving a reg enough weight that they think they could beat him. lol

I'm disappointed that at the buffet El Diesel didn't pocket 5 bagels and 8 peanut butters and jellies....along with 3 chicken drumsticks.

He might not know who Norma Geli is. She is a vlogger that makes videos of cheap food on the Strip.

What's the challenge, see how long he can coast breakeven in life until he has to go to the ER for a blood infection from a mosquito bite?

Part of me (okay, a lot of me) thinks the guy is batshit crazy but then a small part of me appreciates the simplicity of going out each day and earning comps/money in order to eat. Of course we don't get the whole story (how much did he win/lose playing poker, how does he pay his other bills such as gas/car insurance/rent/etc, etc.), but it is what it is I guess.

Anyone else find it interesting / odd / contradictory that someone on a fixed budget and looking to eke out the most from his $ is buying bottled water at all?

I'm old skool enough to remember when the concept of selling bottled water to the masses became a thing, and I actually thought it was some sort of elaborate joke that obviously wouldn't last. Ha, good read by me. Still, I almost never buy it (with the only real exception being camping trips, where I'll admit it is convenient). Otherwise, the thermos on my work desk is nothing but chilled tap water from home; lol @ buying that on a daily basis, imo. And on a recent week long business trip, I just bought a single bottle and re-used it with hotel tap water / chilled in fridge.

He's not buying it. He's using his 4 free diamond drinks a day to get them.

Also Nevada tap water is some of the most disgusting vile water on this planet.

Edit:forgot about the abc store waters.

Well worth it not to drink Nevada tap water.

He does strike me as the guy who orders a drink and 2 waters from the waitress while playing poker and tipping her a single dollar.

"unconditional love" is one of the dumbest concepts in Western culture

Sooooo, if your partner acquires a violent, abusive streak you're sticking around?
What if they turn into a meth head?
What if you discover they're a child molester?

Everyone has conditions and no one loves unconditionally . . . unless you're a total idiot

I even tell my kids, I love you more than you'll ever know, but if you turn into an a$$hole . . . I may have to re-evaluate.

Not sure how recent you're saying they switched to one per half hour but last summer my brother and I were at Golden Nugget and wanted to load up and get drunk at the 1-3 table the last 2 hours of our session before walking up and down the strip downtown (forget what they call it at the moment) and just meeting endless people, and the drink service was super slow. Like "I cant get drunk at this rate slow"

So we told the waitress that everytime she gave us a jack and coke with a jack neat (So we could dump in the drink) we'd tip her $5 each and she got us good and wasted in 2 hours, Best money I ever spent in Vegas. She said she couldnt give us two at a time so when she would arrive we would quickly dump it in and give her the empty glass back. Basically $15 drinks for $5, seemed more than fair. The rate at which we got drinks radically changed, I assure you.

We took a pic with her before leaving and it's one of my favorite parts of that trip. She was really cool. Hoping she still works there when I go back in June again.

I'm sure I wrote about it in my trip report from last summer here.

I think it makes perfect sense -- someone who makes poor financial decisions. It's your classic display of avocado toast syndrome.

One of the most successful marketing scam of all time.
Also, one goal of el diesel's is to help the environment by using less plastic bags, yet he's ok with bottled water?

It's nasty even running the faucet to wash your hands at times. You can smell it. Water isn't supposed to smell.

Trooper with some gems in this one, like 20% of individuals in the US make over 100k, 34% of households make over 100k, according to google just now, i dont think its unreasonable to buy a louis v purse if youre household makes over 100k, i personally wouldnt do it and dont see the appeal at all and think its stupid personally, but wouldnt hate so hard on anyone who wanted to buy one, but i dont think its a ridiculous thing to buy nice things. In trooper world where he is 50 years old and has worked as a waiter or dealer his whole live, 5k is probably more than his networth for 90% of his life, so it makes sense to think its so absurd. God forbid they get married and trooper has to buy a diamond ring, is he going to spend even 5k on that? That is a racket as well, but it is what it is in the US, every girl wants a big diamond ring. He kept saying how 99.99% cant afford a louis bag or go into any of those stores around the casinos. There is a grain of truth to it, and their appeal is supposed to be that they are exclusive, but i think alot of people in vegas can afford those things, especially people who stay at the Aria or Wynn, if youre gonna say 100k makes you be able to afford a 5k purse, 20% of the population makes that on their own, 34% of households, certainly the people at the aria and wynn, two upscale hotels, especially Wynn are not your average population, probably like 75%+ of the people staying in those hotels can afford a louis V purse by the parameters that if you make 100k you can afford a 5k purse. Weird thing to care about by me, but like youre allowed to have nice things.

Looking at their site, they have purses for like 2500, wallets for 350, its expensive stuff no doubt, but you dont have to be a billionaire to afford a $400 wallet

He kept saying that 99.999% of people cant afford any of the stuff they sell to explain the above if you didnt see it
