The nits' idea of "socializing" at the table is whining to the other nits/regs about their bad beats that they lost to the "fun guy" at the table who will call anything tor $20bucks.

Don't these bad players realize that $20 is like 3-4 days worth of food if they do it right?

"According to Dr. Aldo Civico, “Rapport is the root of effective communication.” The key to building this type of rapport is the strategy of “matching and mirroring” which, he says, is “the skill of assuming someone else’s style of behavior to create rapport.” Social Self Website

Therefore, "socializing" is different with each person or group of people one is dealing with at a particular moment and context. When you are interacting with a very social person, you match and mirror (and therefore gain rapport and socialize) with him by matching his level of enthusiasm and talkativeness. If you are interacting with a slow talker, you don't talk a mile a minute. Instead, you match his slower talking speed and possibly lower voice tone.

How does this translate to "socializing" in poker? Well, if you're playing with talkative types like Negreanu and Matusow, you match and mirror them by matching their level of enthusiasm and emotional states.

And how does one socialize with boring nits? Well, you gain rapport with them by matching and mirroring their "boringness". You may want to match their low level of talkativeness. You want to mirror their tired postures and even deeper and slower breathing rates. Coach El Diesel understands this area of social intelligence. When people here have criticized him for being "anti-social" he may have just been in a table of nits where the optimal way of socializing was to mirror and match nit breathing, nit voice tone, nit talking speed, nit enthusiasm, and nit body language.

"Socializing" is much more than just smiling and being talkative. It is an aspect of social intelligence that is more complex than that. Coach El Diesel clearly has deep understanding of this aspect communication. His level of social intelligence is certainly high, or at least, above average.

I think it probably has less to do with a large contingent of 1/2 or 1/3 grinding "pros" and more to do with a lot of locals in vegas who by necessity(they are surrounded by gambling) being generally sharper than other markets.

They aren't expert gamblers but they've learned there is usually a way to lose less or in some cases even win money with minimal effort.

95% of these players in my experience know literally nothing about poker other than you should fold the vast majority of your hands preflop.
Low stakes poker in vegas is tougher for the same reasons local casinos in vegas offer much better video poker than other places.

I assume he's a guest / co host on Trooper's podcast..... have you got a link and timestamp of an example? Would be interested to hear but definitely not keen to listen to a whole episode

At the opposite end of this spectrum I think Todd Witteles on Poker Fraud Alert is excellent at telling stories (even if a bit long winded)

Unless you're in a new market, or a market that attracts a lot of tourists, I'm pretty sure most people in the poker world are surrounded by gambling. In my experience, many of the worst players put in crap loads of hours and have for many years. A lot of these guys work, sleep, play poker, and that's about it.

To me the very clear difference is that a great many people came to Vegas with the intention of playing pro or making money on the side with poker. Many of them fail to become a pro but stay in the Vegas market and continue to play the games. If they came to Vegas with the intention of playing poker then we can expect that:

1) they are probably not very wealthy and
2) they probably put more effort towards playing winning poker than most non-pros

Of course all markets have players like this, but the ratio is clearly higher in Vegas.

What Brad did to Clubs was ****ing despicable, uncalled for, and I can totally understand how that can haunt a man after 4 years.

This such a black eye for the game.

Brad was also expressing 'height privilege' in this scenario ... short kingz must rise up and dismantle this height privilege patriarchy!

4 years? Jesus. Children. Both of them.

Clubs and Tim deserve each other. What losers.

***POTENTIAL FRAUD ALERT*** Feather may be fudging his stats. Either that or he forgot the conditions he placed on his 49ers pick last week. He explicitly said in his Week 8 video that if Deeblo Samuel didn't play, then then 49ers pick was a no go. Well he didn't so that pick didn't count. He made 5 total picks last week, minus the 49ers based on his conditional bet, it is now 4 total picks. He went 3 and 1 in those picks, in the beginning of this week's video he claims he went 4 and 1 probably hoping we would all forget the condition he laid on his 49ers pick. Maybe he made a mistake. I'd love to give him the benefit of the doubt to this guy but he needs to explain himself.

Any way, here are Feather's Week 9 picks

TB: -2.5 Five Units **FEATHER'S SUPER PLAY OF THE WEEK**
LAC: -3 Three Units **If either Keenan Allen or Austin Eckler doesn't play, the bet is off**
ARZ: -2 Three Units
GB: -3 Three Units
MIA: -4.5 Two Units
MIN: -2 Three Units

Extra Bonus that doesn't count for his record
3-team 6 point teaser parley
Bills -5.5
Bengals -1
Chiefs - 6.5

Word of warning, these teaser bet seem like great deals. But they are called "teasers" for a reason. People who bet teasers usually end up going broke.

I'm going to wait a whole season before I judge his handicapping capabilities. I was highly skeptical when he said he was a 71 percent winner last season. That just doesn't happen very much. The best in the world aim for around 56 percent I think.

I will say this. He seems to pick a lot of favorites. That says "square" right there. But like I said I'll give him to the end of the season to see how he does.

Little trick of the sports betting tout trade, give people a line they can't actually get, then if they win by 3 its a push for him but a loss for anyone who actually bet the -3.5.

I was asking for an example of Clubs being a terrible story teller..... which was provided. That's a bit different from just searching for a show. Also, like many people on here I'm not going to spend much time listening to a Trooper podcast. But will listen to sections of interest

Video is made Thursday night at Trooper Thursday so it may be different then.

Still need an explanation on why Fewther counted week 8 as 4-1 and not 3-1. I mean 3-1 is still a very good result so why fudge it?
