I think Troop is happy with his current life. A job or more poker will not make him more happy and his goal of making a vlog every day is working out for him. Some of his followers do not mind if the vlogs get repetitive and just like to see him live his life every day (incuding all the mailtimes).
I, like most of 2p2 followers, are more poker minded, but his vlog is more a social vlog now and we have to accept this.
The "I have a poker dream" Tim has left us a long time ago :-(
The "poker dream" Trooper is definitely long gone. We now have the "YouTube dream" Trooper which in many ways is the same thing.
While Trooper found a small groove in 1/2 nl games and sat on his hands for years in terms of improving his game and now finds himself just catching up to the current state of the game, which kept evolving while he sat and didn't study to improve. He was able to squeak out a minimum profit to just get by. The same is happening with YouTube Trooper. He built up a small channel and is now content on sitting on it and just churning out the same content (without improving or putting time/energy into advancing his product) for just enough money to supplement his 20 hour a week poler hobby.
I give him credit for creating multiple sources of income but if he focused on just one, he could really get it bigger than half ass-ing both.
I also like him trying to monetize his vlog but his method and timing is horrible. He's trying to cash in for a few grand now instead of building a better brand and going for a bigger score down the road. Once he sells out, it's possible the vlog will take a big hit and will begin to decline in growth rate.
His method is stupid too. Exclusive content? Lol, he has trouble filling his current daily vlog with content. Where will he get anything new if he hasn't gotten it in 1-2 years already. His 2nd option of the tourney lottery is probably illegal but more so is a poorly covered attempt at asking people to give X amount while getting back less than 5% in expected value in return. First, he's not gonna win or top 5 an Aria tourney anytime soon plus he's gonna ask for a few grand to buy into a $150 tourney. It's like Eskimo Clarke selling over 100% of himself and then tanking the tourney to keep the overlay on what he sold. His non mathematical/poker knowledgable YouTube fans probably don't see the disconnect in his ideas.
He's got to get some better business minded friends to help guide him better.
