Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

Pman is fine, vegas is chewing him up at the moment, this is true, but its relatively easy to turn around, all it takes is a bit of work. Live 1-2 and 2-5 are insane soft and take very little work to be winning 25+ an hour minimum, especially in vegas. It just literally will take him realizing he needs to work at it and humbling himself and going for it, i think right now he just has so much going on he isnt really focused on any one thing and hes all over the place.

Isn't that a matter of perspective though? Sure, it's easy for some, but for others it may not be so easy.

That seems like a lot to ask of him.

Yeah, like for all the people making the game amazingly soft There are many people for whom the best poker advice is simply not to play.

Pman is gonna Pman.
I guess thats fair, i just think from talking to him here and in real life he is capable of winning at those stakes, he just has to do a bit of work, which maybe is alot to ask, everybody has different burdens they carry in life, even if he never makes it as a poker player, in the grand scheme of life thats not really a big deal, maybe failing now if he ends up failing will set him up to crush something later that is better suited for him.

Pman sounds like he fantasizes the idea of playing poker for a living and that's the extent of it.

Perhaps he considered very little of the flip side.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I like Jaman's videos & Finding Equilibrium. Lex O just came out with another video I haven't checked it out yet, but they have been pretty solid lately too.

Someone mentioned that Brad Owen's strat talk seems pretty straight forward (ABC). Which is TRUE, but Brad Owen's audience consists of players of all skill levels so he doesn't overwhelm people with GTO terminology or other stuff like frequencies, blockers, and spewing out theoretical solver setups. I'm sure he has a solid game, but he probably saves time and editing material by reducing the analytical talk.

Looking forward to see how he does in the HU $25k tournament though. I wish it was live since that looks like mostly his realm, but I'm assuming it's all online. All the online wizards will be crushing it (Limitlesss, Llinus etc.)

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I’m still rooting for Pman. He took those tough losses pretty well. I wonder what type of job he is trying to get.

Despite the criticisms his poker hands did make the video a lot more interesting. I hate it when a vlogger says he lost a bunch and doesn’t talk about any hands.

IIRC, near the beginning of his last TT vlog, he put a phone number on screen to call to get on the list to play. But as Plicketyplak noted, you can also just show up.

I assume he is winning in the games, but I also think he may just not be that advanced. He does seem to throw in strategy talk more when he is pimping out a product. At one point in some of his videos he would be like, I've got the A4 suited and according to the Upswing Poker chart this is a 4 bet, so I do and it works! Don't think he says why it is a 4 bet, just that the chart says it is, could be wrong though as its been a while since I have seen those videos.

He also tends to leave video in of him complaining about beats. Not sure why he feels the need to do that. I'm talking him sitting at the table and bet calling 44 on like a 6 high board and the guy having A8 and hitting a pair to suck out and then him leaving in his vlog saying out loud, they are trying to give it away, but get lucky or something like that. Kind of like a Helmuth rant. Its like, you are supposed to be a pro and you lost a $500 pot at 5/10, quit bitching at the fish.

He did the same thing in his vlog in Arizona complaining about his opponents getting whatever they need. Just seems like bad reg/fish behavior to complain like that.

I have no skin in the game here. Although I think pman is a really nice guy. BUT if being a pro in vegas were easy I would not have personally witnessed the hundreds that attempted and failed miserably over the years. It appears that he does not grasp some very basic concepts and he simply enjoys gamboolin in the bright casinos too much. Unless he gets it together pronto I think he has next to no shot becoming/succeeding (as) a pro.

More like deliberate humor that actually works well in making his vlogs entertaining.

As to skill level, Owen is probably upper intermediate.

From the looks of the footage it looks like Rampage pulls in much more people than Owen and Neeme...much more!!!

Was anyone in this forum there? Are all those people there for the Rampage meetup?

Another thing, it turns out Rampage not only outsources his editing, he also outsources his product designs which goes to show that he must be the best poker vlogger out there when it comes to having the intent and the skills of actually being in business.
It was Memorial Day Weekend, which was cold and rainy in that area; and the room in which this was held (Boston Billiards) is not very large and likely would have had 2/3 as many people there anyway. This is not meant as a slight to Rampage or Vibes, but rather a suggestion that their apparent drawing power might not be as it seems.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

Jaman seems like such a good guy - it's hard not to see how he's so well liked among the vlogger community. That having been said, I'd prefer his vlogs be more frequent and less production-heavy. And he seems comparatively light as to setting up dynamics of the hands in terms of how the other people at the table are playing, which is something Rampage, Brad, and Mariano do quite well and I've found increases my enjoyment of vlogs a lot more than I thought it would.

But this sample kind of self selects for failure. The vast majority of people who want to be pro poker players are lazy and/or avoid responsibility. They're probably pretty delusional about their own ability. The ones who choose to move to Vegas are probably dumber than the average aspiring poker pro as they likely didn't even consider that Vegas is barely a top 10 place to be a pro poker player. The list goes on. Winning $25/hr full time in Vegas could be fairly easy for a lot of people, just not the people who actually pursue it.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I'm just wondering what brings a self described man of god to the city of Sin initially, when a few minutes or research would indicate it's no longer the mecca of good live poker. Half of the battle of Vegas is not giving into the million different things pawing at your degenerate monkey brain from every different angle 24/7 and maintaining a sense of normalcy to take care of business. Just because they give you a taste of the blood of christ every Sunday does not mean getting hammered all the time because it's free is a righteous cause. Genuinely curious though typically the only very devout Christians you see moving to Vegas are doing it just in efforts to help people like holding up "Abortion is murder" signs on the Strip or volunteer for the homeless not fleece tourists and shitregs at 1/2.

Maybe the kid just wants to experience the life, kind of like how Amish does its things.

It's kind of hard to live in a place where it's trying to be Friday nights 24/7.

But you wouldn't think that would be a bad thing when you're not a seasoned pro like squid.
