Good luck finding a bunch of sickos senior citizens (OMC's age or older). I can count the # of good ones I know of on one hand and that's taking into consideration every player I've ever played with, every player I know of from these forums, and every famous poker pro that I've ever heard of.
OMC does play like lots of old guys Iíve played with and while it isnít optimal, they accomplish the objective of making their money last. But have you ever been to Florida? Thereís definitely some aggressive geriatric players that Iíve played with several times. Even in Ohio/WV I can think of 10-15 guys old enough to have been in Nam who are aggressive sickos in deep stack games. Every player in 2/5 or below has tons of obvious leaks (me too) but in general I think people of all ages in 2021 have figured out that playing super nitty or super aggressive allow you to suck a little less with the least amount of thinking.

What a disaster. Trooper Thursday. He has pocket Queens in late and just calls after just about the whole table limps.
That's not what happened at all.

You sure those aren't whales? Hard to believe that 10 to 15 of the sickest players around are elderly dudes playing in Ohio/WV live cash games. I'm not sure I could name 15 great players in the entire DFW Metroplex. I've only ever played with one 70+ year old that seemed like a good LAG. That was in Vegas 5/T and I'm pretty sure most of the grinders viewed him as fish playing too many hands.

Push Up contest at Trooper Thursday. I love the movie he referenced, "Falling Down" 1993
Michael Douglas.

Honestly I like trooper but he really struggled to pump out those 14? pushups. Then he got mogged by the dude that is 450.

That is more push ups than he has done in the last 10 years. Also more than at the beginning of "Stripes".

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I'm 55 with white hair, but thankfully still a full head of hair. I'm sure a lot of the younger guys at the tables look at me and right away, without seeing me play a hand, categorize me as an OMC. I've even been called sir before. And I think I sometimes play like a bonafide OMC. So I guess what makes an OMC depends who you ask.
To me, an OMC is a guy around 60,70ish who bets 6 dollars into a 30 dollars pot on the turn, allowing me to call that bet with my gut shot to the nut straight and then letting me induce him to an all in on the river after I get there.
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Las Vegas Poker Player Vlogs

I'm impressed Trooper can do 14 pushups. Didn't think he was in that good of shape, although he had poor form with his legs apart like that.

The big dude did 0 pushups. The only time he actually pushed all the way up was after he fell down.

When I think of OMCs, I'm mostly thinking 70+ years old. If they were in World War II then expect their raising range to be super tight.

A real push up is when you touch your nose to the ground and keep your back straight.

I dont think they are great players. I agree, thereís not 15 great players i could name in 2/5 or below my entire life. My point is, they donít play passive nit omc style poker. They have deeper pockets of money they are willing/able to put into action but iíd say whale is not the term to describe them. To me a whale is calling down 3 streets with bottom pair, not blasting off on 4 straight boards with their missed flush draws if that makes sense?

Vietnam vets, Korean vets. Pudding or Porridge. We got the point.
I'm sure there's some WW2 vets still around.
I once sat next to a guy so old and feeble; it was a fixed limit game; that I had to push his chips in the middle for him. I think he was a WW1 veteran, but I'm not entirely sure. Actually, sitting next to him made me feel young again.

As recently as just right before last year's lockdowns (Vegas), I got to play with a guy who was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He served in the 3rd Army under General George Patton. The guy was/is a genuine hero.

Nice story.

Being the age I am myself, I met many WW2 veterans growing up. I always had the proper respect, but I don't know if I properly appreciated them back then.
I lived in Germany in the 90's and actually met many German WW2 vets.

The line I remember best from one of our vets was, that if we didn't drop the bomb on Japan, we'd have lost a lot of our boys.
From a German, We were only following orders and doing our duty, lol.

I'm curious too. Hope he's okay.

In his last vlog he said he was 100% full time poker. Maybe he's marathon grinding and has no time to make videos. Unlike his poor nemesis Trooper, who has only made a vlog 43 days in a row (so far) but only averages 6 hours per session.

Did he limp kings in late position?

I only saw him play KK once. It was UTG plus 1. He was first in and limp re-raised a late position raiser. He got called. I didn't watch the rest of the hand.

Wow, he's a LAG then. Generally when one is 95+ yrs old the preflop raising range tends to be like AA+.

Interesting fact. The last wife of a Civil War vet died in 2020. I kid you not.

Not too long ago. A little before the pandemic.
That WW1 thing was just a poor attempt at humor. I wasn't serious.
But every other part was true. His hands were shaky. I don't know how old he was, but he was pretty old.
