Was a little worried, but glad he was able to fade wearing that Knicks jersey on free agent Sunday to a 3rd place finish.

Agreed, the only difference being Moneymaker was playing against mostly pros in a $10k buy-in tournament, during an era when a recreational player winning a big tournament had no precedent, vs in 2019 where a recreational player winning a $400 buy-in tournament is pretty much the expected outcome due to the sheer number of entrants. But other than that it was remarkably similar to Moneymaker's run.

Super happy for him because he seems like he is just as he comes across, nothing fake about this guy. He's just your average degen who binked a nice score, like we all hope to.

Good for him.

PS....Buy Caity something nice. Women who stick by us degens deserve some reward when we actually bink something.

Robert Varkonyi.

From what I remember about the Varkonyi win, he got Aces 3 times at the final table and played them all super ******ed and won big on all of them.

Now that we had the super satisfying RDP Colossus run, I'm ready for Boski to go deep next. Those two are pretty much the only vlogs I watch anymore

Unless I'm misunderstanding this Pokernews video interview, Ryan is cutting a check for $100k to his backer in this event.

christ, why would you have a backer in a $400 event? must have been some pre-agreement. "we split all my action." that sucks, especially considering he was crushing prior to that tourney.

but seriously, dude is genuinely funny

Except that we don't know his financial situation and we don't know how much $400 is to him. Maybe he doesn't get to play in everything he was planning on playing in without a backer? Maybe he doesn't enter that particular event without his whole trip being backed?

I see where you are coming from, if it was just that one tourney he was backed for then, yea, disappointing it wasn't his $400, but we don't know how much he was backed for and how many tournaments were involved.

I'm just happy one of the good guys gave us a decent sweat and scored a decent cash along the way. Hopefully he's happy with whatever deal he made. Hopefully it grows his channel some as well.

well, we've seen him blow way more than $400, so i'm sure it was a predetermined backing setup

At least he's walking away with 100K. I hope he takes Joey and Tom on another vegas trip to make some hilarious vlogs, especially since he's gonna be on a break between shows at his job.
Also wasn't DP in the same event when he berated him on social media for jokingly telling him he's coming for his youtube spot? Ryan handled that like a boss and went on to take down 208K ; )

He is legitimately hilarious, by far the funniest vlogger. Also you can tell he is high IQ, its impossible to be that quick with humor and be dumb.

So after taxes, and paying backer, he gonna pocket around 70k. Not bad at all. Would be cool for him to play the Main, degen 10k on a vlog or 2, and save the rest.

Boski, 2x markup is absurd. I’ll take 5% for $750.

On an unrelated note..... this little montage of Asian ladies seemed out of place. Daniel might have taken the footage for his private collection (known to enjoy Asian ladies IIRC) but his editor put it in the vlog by mistake. LOL

I read that on Twitter and thought he was trolling? Is there an actual package online?

But he did shave Hellmuth's head.

I met him a couple years after his win. He's as nice and goofy appearing as he was on tv.

No, that was a 1k event. But I think Doug Polk's anger was based more on other interactions we didn't see and Ryan calling him f*ck face. Ryan tweeted (pasting text here in case the tweet gets deleted): "First WSOP event of my life is $1k tag team and we crushing. have 296k ITM 111 teams remain of 976. Got to meet @andrewneeme and @TheBradOwen who didn’t big time me and were made cool unlike f*ck face polk. Plus I made Andy black laugh at my table! Sick love it here".

Kind of unbelievable Doug fell for it and gave Ryan exactly the kind of publicity he was looking for by tweeting about him to his 127k followers. Since Ryan later kind of apologized and wanted to make peace with Doug I'm LOLing at the whole bit. Gg Ryan, wp.

BTW I'm a huge fan of Doug Polk. Doug, Joey, and Ryan would be the dream team poker interviewers/commentators.
