It would give his videos a story line and would make them much more interesting because you want to know what happened in the tournament. It's such an obvious move that Trooper will clearly not pursue this option due to some "not excuses" excuses.
I can see 3 reasons why he's hesitant to not do this.
1. He would have to actually vlog updates from the tournament with some hand histories and go back to poker vlogging which he hasn't done for a long time. His vlog seems to contain little to no poker recently and I think that is for a reason. He shows his cards for 15 seconds and that's it for a whole vlog! He has always shied away from hand histories due to criticism that he gets, as well.
2. If he played a dozen events and busted every single one of them, he would kill the "potential" of him being a great tournament player who hasn't won anything because he doesn't have the money to play big tournaments. Trooper talks a big game but never delivers on it. If he strikes out on a dozen tournaments and blanks for the whole WSOP, he won't have any excuses and no "untapped potential" left.
3. He's afraid to lose money from his fans. He started off living (eating) off of fans' donations and Starbucks cards and has graduated to living off of hat sales and coffee sales to pay the rent. If all those fans threw their $20-$40 donation towards a tourney stake, instead of paying rent, the money would be lost at the tables and Trooper's apparel and coffee sales would potentially plummet. Who wants a stupid hat when they can sweat him for the same money?
Anyway, it really don't matter what happens because I'm sure Trooper will find the worst option of everything available to him. If he doesn't offer another package full of low entry buy ins at the WSOP or even any of the side tournament series, he would be a fool.
Can you imagine if he entered in the tag team with Boski or Poker Kraut or anyone else "controversial"? He could get thousands of subs and sales overnight from that alone!
The ball is in your court again Trooper...DO SOMETHING FOR ONCE!
