Boski,

I’m a big fan, and really appreciate all the content. I have no idea what you were doing in some of those live stream hands. You can’t be scared of aggressive players like that, or give free turn and river with an overpair just because you’re hoping a guy might blow himself up.

Why doesn't Trooper get coaching or work on his game? He seems like a decently smart guy you would think he would look at his own win rate over the last 4 years or so and realize he needs to change something. Maybe he thinks it's just variance who knows. Maybe it's just his ego not willing to accept that he's a long term break even 1/2 player. I have no idea.

Even though this isn't a strategy thread, I'm gonna give a bit more analysis on the last big pot. Yes, Boski is a favorite three ways against two straights, but.....

There will be a side pot, so he has to consider that he will be +EV in the main pot but -EV in the side pot and has to compare the two.

Both players VPIP preflop. I am a tight enough player that I would fold a hand like QJ54 for an extra $5 in the blinds in a straddled pot. Not everyone would, but a tight player will have a coordinated hand that very likely contains cards close in rank to QJ. The tighter the opponents are, the more likely they have at least one boat blocker. A set is no longer a favorite three-way if two of his outs are dead. Some very tight players might even just check-call with a bare nut straight and only raise with a redraw to boat or higher straight.

I think a fold there is generally the right play. I also am not enthusiastic about the flop bet because it seems based on a bad assumption that better hands would have bet instead of checking. I've found that this isn't true in massively multi-way pots.

So Trooper's video today, you see his new hat. Is he advocating gambling by playing Russian roulette?

Thanks for the feedback but I am not scared of aggressive players. I am guessing you are referring to the QQ hand. In the few hands you see from Rich, He runs some crazy bluffs. I wanted it to look like I had AK, AQ with my quick flop check. I want to give him every chance to bluff. My plan was to call him down. Give him rope. You can lead a horse to water. I realize that c betting QQ on J85 is the standard line.

I think the flop bet is fine to get value and deny equity when the field checks to me on the button. T98r is a draw heavy board against 7 players. Interesting spot with 2 players check raise repotting for sure. I think it might be a get it in spot if I had TTxx for the $1,500 effective stack. I could be wrong. I don't play much PLO.

A flop bet is defensible, but I'm not sure if it's optimal. I wouldn't know for sure without understanding the flow of the table and the meta-game. My instincts are honed from playing in games that are more passive than typical.

The pot is still relatively small, so you're not denying that much equity. In these sorts of pots, players often check non-nut straights and bare nut straights, so betting for value may be thinner than you realize. The basic question I ask myself is whether my hand is good enough to play a big pot. Middle set when a straight is possible isn't a big pot hand. It's in bad shape if you run into a hand like QJT8. In an eight-way pot, it's probably not too far from wrong if your betting range on the button is polarized between hands you don't mind getting it in on the flop with and hands that you would probably fold if you checked and someone bets the turn. Middle set feels like neither of those on this board.

Because of the way the pot can grown in PLO, you have to understand how this hand will play out on future streets. If you bet and get called, how many turn cards make you happy to get it in against someone who wants to play for stacks.

One thing betting accomplished is keeping the nut straight in the range of hands you can credibly represent, so betting here makes sense if you expect the need to bluff hands like TT and 76 on a future street. Knowing when to turn a set into a bluff takes a bit of hand-reading. That may be less important if you can still represent J7 after checking the flop.

Maybe the equivalent hold em hand on this board would be something like top pair. I don't play much hold em these days, but should people bet hands like QT and JT in a family pot or take the free card and see what happens on the turn using the benefit of position?

Trooper is on fire with overpriced "garbage" and terrible service on the strip. Is Trooper getting sick of Vegas?

Are these the drastic changes coming in next 3 months?

over/under?
-Trooper moves in with his mom
-Gets his old job back at Madgianos
-Knocks up Gun Gal
-Gets a dealer job at WG
-Continues white knuckling it and eating SBUX food and playing "****ty poker" (phony Danish Trooper at Venetian - They took down my favorite vlog!!!

? the way to earn money in poker is to create a very tight image, make everyone think u are a nit who never bluffs, and then steal with impunity on a few key hands

I mean Tim complains about terrible service and garbage items, but he eats food court food, plays 1/2 and sells white label merch.... I think the level of service and quality of products fits his lifestyle choices

Trooper is a boss who deserves to have the highest quality food and service when he uses his comps for food/coffee. If it wasn't for variance and running bad he would be making $100 playing 2/5

Would love troop to make just a few life changes.

Diet is main thing.
Get proper 1/2 coaching the next.

I think he sets himself up for failure when he makes the goals to big for himself. The perfect gym and diet off the back of eating rubbish for years was never going to work. A good start would be to just make lunches at home each day and take them to the strip in a tub.

Bill Lumberg was a boss and he deserved a D in his mouth so being a boss isn’t saying much.

I don't even know you but I do know that he won't do that.

I'm sure he thinks the only reason you're doing better than him is because you're luckier.

My bet is Trooper's lease comes up in August and he will need to decide to renew or not.
