So a pretty bleak Vegas poker vlog landscape all around.

I can get behind the post-WSOP blahs. After 6-8 weeks of steady playing a break is needed to avoid burnout.

Now we’re gonna get a ****load of amateur vlogs the next few weeks until Neeme and Gross finish their giveaway.

By the time that’s done, everything reverts to the mean?

I will continue the Casino cash game reviews. They will all be titled "The TRUTH about X Casino"

I am looking for the best criteria to use to rate the casinos and poker rooms.
Should I focus on just the poker room or include the casino amenities?
Should I have 5 or 10 categories?

I need your feedback!

So far I have :

-Proximity to parking garage
-Chair comfort
-Food comps per hour
-Dealer competence/speed/friendliness
-Rake
-Jackpot promotions
-Toughness of competition

They will all get a Boski Score(TM) 1-10 with 10 being the best

Let me know! Your feedback is appreciated.

When im not playing poker I like to go to casinos that have lots of pit games open... Sometimes you go into places and every table has a waiting list and they have 5x as many tables closed... So maybe some info on how empty the pit games are? Planet hollywood for instance is always packed full of people compared to Aria where you can usually always find spaces

what most people care about when reviewing a room is, do the phone chargers work, can u get your own coffee without needing to give the waitress $1, and do they use $1 chips instead of both $1 and $2 chips?

Yes, most people care about getting their own coffee so they don't have to top the waitress

1) +1 to expanding Chair Comfort to include cleanliness and general niceness of the room.

2) Jackpot promotions includes all the live rakeback stuff, right? (high hand promos, seat lotteries, splash pots... whatever ways the casino is using jackpot monies to put cash back into our pockets).

3) Proximity to parking garage means nothing to me... I actually park at the far end of parking and up three flights of stairs because it's the only exercise that I get all week.

4) rake: maybe include game structure with this. I mean, a 50bb buy in cap game is worse than a 200bb buy in cap game.

Looking forward to this series.

If the room offers free self-service food or drinks, that is indeed good to mention.

I don't think chair comfort merits it's own rating, but should be part of overall room comfort (how spacious are the tables, how crowded together are they, is there a waiting area, etc.).

Bathroom proximity is lot more important than parking lot proximity! You only have to go back and forth to your car once, and typically never in between hands. (I've never had a car in Vegas anyway.)

But the -most- important factor for me is diversity of games. How many different variations and stakes are regular spread?

Great list. I would add:

Air Quality (ie, how much smoke from casino makes it to the poker room)
Loudness
Quality of restaurants/food nearby
General Vibe

+1

Also location, location, location, not just in terms of the parking garage. I think it's really important how close to the real casino the poker room is, and how easily findable it is. Do gamblers have to walk by it, so they can decide to sit down and play poker on a whim, like at Planet Hollywood? Or can nobody see the poker room or even know there is one unless they specifically look for it?

This also ties in to the waiting list, e.g. if the list at Aria is always long then not many casual gamblers will want to wait to play.

It's probably not your fault. There were or are some software bugs in 2+2 that copy the wrong quotes and even change the YouTube videos you insert after you click the submit button. You have to check it and if it's wrong click edit quickly while it still lets you edit. I've experienced this and I think it happened to a couple other people too, including Boski a while back when he posted Mr. Bill's vlog instead of his own.

Just to be clear, it looks fine in preview but then after you click submit 2+2 changes it to a different quote or video. But it only happened maybe 1% of the time.

I like knowing the range of places you can use the comps on. Like Aria gives you $2/hour but the range of on-the-go options isn't as great, I like to know where I can get Starbucks/Earl of Sandwich level casual food on the go. If you could mention this stuff for the lesser known places I'd appreciate it

Sorry if I rehash this conversation which seems to have wrapped up, but thought I should post something with my thoughts. I obviously don't want this convo to dominate the vloggers' discussion more than it has already.

I just want to say that this was the hardest video for me to make since my very first one. Sometimes when I upload a video at night, I wait to have it go live until I'm awake the next morning because I won't be able to sleep anyway without seeing what the feedback is. I lost sleep over this one before I even recorded it.

I debated for over two months before agreeing to get involved. I talked to Jason Somerville about it during the WSOP; I spoke with a PR department head and told her my concerns; she scheduled an hour-long call with Eric Hollreiser for me to express my concerns before deciding. I also wanted to hear what he'd think when I said that I was going to say in the video that it was ****ty what PS did about the SNE's. Jason later told me he's never been able to have that lengthy of a call with Eric.

Normally when I'm working with another company like PartyPoker or 888 it's mostly straightforward and there isn't a big decision to be made. There have also been offers to work together from different companies--from unregulated online poker sites to crypto tokens to things that have nothing to do with poker and my audience--but I stayed away from. I guess I'm just saying all this because I want you guys to know that I didn't just get an offer and say "ok yep, gimme that value."

One of the things that swayed me in the end, that hasn't been brought up yet here because I know you guys don't give a **** about it, is what I mentioned in the video. People are going to try this vlogging thing and whether that results in a trip to the Bahamas or not, they'll have gained something. There are already a bunch of tweets and messages saying thanks for doing this because it's the push they needed to finally give it a try. (Someone in the thread said oh great now we're gonna get a bunch of ****ty noob poker vlogs on my channel... lol, don't worry, I might highlight a few later but won't be splashing them everywhere nonstop.)

Another thing that led me to doing the giveaway is that someone from my audience is going to win a huge prize, which is something that's tough for me to offer as a low/midstakes grinder on my own. I've always looked at Doug's giveaways and percentages, from like the Super High Roller Bowl or whatever, and wished that I could do something on that level for my audience.

There's a lot I could type here but I don't think I'm going to change anyone's opinion and don't really want to. I can answer some questions if you want. I have questions of my own, like "at what point does it become ok to work with Stars after what they did?" Is it now, since these Platinum Pass giveaways are cool in a vacuum? Is it never? Is it another 5 years from now? I honestly have no idea and debated this for months since I knew there would be people who disagreed with me both ways.

Also Boski, something that tilts me the most about a poker room is how easy/not easy it is to sign up. For example, whoever designed the Red Rock poker room... what were they thinking having the huge front desk facing the INSIDE of the poker room?

Wouldn't sweat it too much. Was pretty clear to anyone who's seen the videos since beginning that you originally entered YouTube for artistic outlet/experiment whereas pretty much everyone of the poker vloggers that came after Trooper and yourself has been in it to try and shill ****(regardless of the current ethics/drama surrounding the company) as fast as possible (terrible strategy in YouTube...especially until you build big audience).

Props as well for not taking scammy crypto ICO $...not even the GOAT Phil Hellmuth could resist lol.
