Trooper is pokers equalivent to being on welfare. He posts the same vlog everyday. Gets angry at people for trivial reasons, walks to starbucks, talks about trivial unthought provoking things things and it seems he is trying to target a niche market of people don’t want any ambitions other than to be lazy and not work hard, who don’t want to set goals in life and go gamble 1-2 poker for 4 hours a day most days and do nothing else in life. To me thats cool in 2007 if you’re 19 years old but 45...to me it seems there is a mental health issue holding him back. Hey, to each their own

I don’t know if it is a mental health issue so much as it something ‘mental’ that affects him.

You act like everyone has aspirations of greatness, of being the best, the wealthiest or the most successful.

I am 55. I aspire to be none of those things. I aspire to be happy each day. To play poker when I want to. To be able to afford next month’s rent, etc.

I got a job in April after four years of limited working to go with playing poker.

Not every one is built the same way mentally and that doesn’t make us unstable or in need of help.

As for the marriage, we don’t even know if he has ever been married before. So maybe this wouldn’t be as big of a surprise as some might think. Some might be surprised because of his “I’m free and I do what I want” attitude and the idea of marrying someone seems to go against that.
Steve I very highly doubt he's ever been married ever!

Seems like he wants to do better at poker, but seems like he also thinks he knows it all in regard to poker, so he won't do the things to improve at it. The most evident part is him not really doing hand histories of a few note-worthy hands each session. He probably doesn't feel like he can learn anything from it.

True he walks from the parking garage to the elevator but his hoodie is thin and he claims he's cooler wearing it (prob bc the sun hits his fair skin more thoroughly).

Johnnie claims a $150 per hour win rate at 5/10. At 40 hrs a week that would cone to a whopping 300k a year. In the same video he mentions he is under rolled for 5/10/20 PLO.

If his win rate is true then Johnnie really missed an opportunity grinding and putting away money. I know he didn't play 40 hrs a week, but he should have been saving money to take higher shots or using the money for investment capital.

Another thing is that Johnnies table at 5/5 all wanted to bump the stakes to 5/10. Even if the casino didn't let them play, it shouldn't matter to much what the blind structure is if regs are buying in full and constantly reloading. Johnnie can still play 5/5 and make close to what he made at 5/10. Since he thinks he's a fish at PLO, he doesn't have to necessarily play it.

This is mostly on point. I think the majority of people passively hate Tim just because, and this is just my opinion, he appears sometimes that he thinks he is above the low class of peasants. When you can tell his life isn't going as well as he thinks it should, and if you watch enough you can tell just based on his attitude and demeanor, he does come off like a dick with how he talks about other people. That gets on people's nerves I think. I can see why people like him and/or look up to his lifestyle, but I would imagine the majority of those people are similar to him in their own lives already.

Tim has a job, he just doesn't have a boss, sort of. At this point, I would imagine that his major income stream is YouTube. However, he seems to be out of ideas in life and so his content gets stale. He has a regular life with a regular job just like a guy who roofs houses does, he just doesn't have to be on time to answer to someone everyday. It appeals to him and he's happy with it just like that guy who roofs all day and drinks a six pack at night watching TV.

That concept is somewhat weird to me too, but I understand the interest in just showing up and shutting off. People who are extremely driven and demanding in their personal lives have a hard time understanding how those are mutually exclusive from being successful. Some people are successful because they feel successful, whether you like it or not.

As someone who is interested in human psychology and a passive interest in poker, he is actually pretty interesting to assess. His content is super stale and boring though. That seems more though because he builds up a thing and then never gets around to accomplishing it.

When someone plays for a living, as he's done for the past decade, how is he able to save up all the money he's won?

I don't think he said he is cooler in it, he said its 110 out so its going to be hot no matter what, which is still Stupid AF.

If he has a $150 an hour win rate then how does he not have a roll for 5/10/20 PLO? This tells me this guy spends money way outside his means and that he didn't put in enough hours over the years.

Btw. $150 an hour is 15BBs per hour. This is really high and would equate to 300k a year if he worked 40 hours a week with 2 weeks vacation. To be able to make that much yet not have at least a 50k bankroll for 5/10/20 is way out of whack.

Agreed, Johnnie seems like he would make a good coach.

^ Sounds like there's not a 5-10 NL game in San Diego that is GOOD 40 hrs. a week, so how is he going to make 300k a year? Didn't he say it hardly runs right now, and that's why he's trying PLO? If so, it doesn't even sound like there's a good 5-10 game for 20 hrs a week.

I would estimate that you need at least eight times the bankroll to play 5/10/20 PLO that you need to play 5/10 NL.

50K is barely sufficient to play 5/5 PLO. I recommend 50 buy-ins as a sufficient bankroll. 100 would be better.

this is actually quite common, u guys do realize we are all GAMBLERS AT HEART, and theres other games in casinos besides poker? im the brokest ive been since 2012, im down to only $10k left of about 19k a couple months back. but as far as my income goes, this is the first year out of 30 straight years of playing as my only income that im on track to clear 50k for the year. im at 30k in the first 7 months, so 20k in the final 5 would do it. most years i made much less than 40k, closer to 30k

Last edited by sevencard2003; 08-02-2018 at 10:45 PM. Reason: the 30k is for poker ONLY. if u include BJ, there goes most of the 30k
