Yea, I would think that for making a living off of poker you'd want as little variance as possible, but if you're playing poker recreationally, having a lot of variance would be more enjoyable/fun.

this probably sounds weird but i stopped running it twice years ago. one of the unexpected byproducts is i've had a lot more fun playing. my swings are way bigger, my losses way worse but handling those losses well has made me a much better player. i laugh (and am extremely thankful) at how bad almost everyone tilts. it's so good for the game.i know my brain works differently than most people, and i handle losing better than most people so it's not for everyone.i don't play crazy or anything but the increased variance is a lot of fun.

i also don't play tournaments. those seem like soul sucking constant punches to the gut. in 2018 by the time you get to the real money almost everyone left plays well and it's really a contest of who runs the best at key points for massive pay jumps.

How many vloggers have done Main Event vlogs? There is Boski, Neeme, Negreanu and Jeff Gross. Anyone else? I haven’t seen one from Brad yet.

i thought it was pretty obvious that this is what you meant.
beating 1/2 as a side hobby for beer money is easy.doing it for a living is extremely difficult and if you're not putting in tons of hours to move up asap you're really wasting your life.

Brad played the main event. But if you look at his whole Vlog history, he normally puts out his videos a month after the fact. I'm not knocking it, just ive noticed the majority of his vlogs are weeks if not over a month behind. So expect his Main Event one early August.

This is why Live poker will never be solved completely and will always be profitable to a degree. At least until Skynet takes over.

Tourneys are always more fun even when losing. Cash is boring and you have to fold way too much with rake/no antes.

How does Jaman 'have it' just about every single time, over the course of 2+ years?

J-8? Flop comes A-J-8. A-3? Flop comes X-X-5..Turn 4 River 2. Easy game.

$50-$100/hour win rate at 1/2, 2/5 and 5/10 in St. Louis and Las Vegas.

He wins 8 or 9 out of every 10 sessions he plays.

He almost never gets coolered. Never runs his QQ into KK, never gets his AA in and Villain hits a set.

I wan't to be him, just for a week or so to experience that..

I also like Jaman's game the most out of the Vloggers. He said in the vlogger game that he's still a bit old school in the sense that he plays a lot of feel. He also seems to have zero-little tilt in his game. Having no tilt issues is going to add $15+ on anyone's hourly pretty easily.

And ironically in his latest video he runs QQ into KK and loses $700 in a session then drops $1000 in another session later that night. Does that make you feel better?

You also have to realize the videos are edited to include interesting hands so you see him raise 25 and flop a gutter and river the straight. He won’t include the hand where he does that and loses just his PF raise cause who cares?

Or like watching KK tank for 3 minutes in the recent Doug Polk video?

Make me feel better?

If you look back in this thread, I was talking about how good Jaman's vlogs were before he was even on most people's radar.

I didn't see that recent QQ - KK hand..I was just using an example of how he seldom seems to take a lot of the bad beats and coolers that 99% of poker players experience on a regular basis..

Jaman studies poker more than any other vlogger, he is familiar with and probably uses all the good training sites; and his life income doesn't depend on poker. Playing stress free probably adds a lot to his results.

solve for why is pretty good. I hope brent ballentine does because he went deep even if he isn't supremely interesting. I think the poker guys did one too but their stuff is pretty dry too.

I definitely recommend solve for why though. I like their stuff alot. I think it's getting slept on pretty hard right now.

Mapher nailed the biggest point. Jaman has a career and does not depend on poker as his sole source of income. That alone allows him to be comfortable in any game he plays.

You've also been chirping about his positive results since the beginning. Sounds almost accusatory at times. Not sure why else you would keep bringing it up over and over and over.

Jaman pulls out the rarely seen Whiteface in his latest vlog.

I don't recommend Trooper or any of the white vloggers try the inverse.

I found it oddly amusing that Jaman eats lunch with Troop, then goes to a vlogger meet up game where every popular vlogger is playing except Tim.

Watched Boski's latest vlog. It's a good reminder to me that poker(variance) is a sick, sick game.

I hope you run better for other tournaments. I'm sure it will be in your favor in the long term.

He’s just that great of a guy, everyone wants to be friends with J and he’s gracious enough to find some time for everyone!

Nice man, I haven’t thought about that band since high school. Opening riff is like a dirtier Incubus track.
