Diesel's food for an entire day-- one burger and fries with water to drink. Living like a king.

Waiting for his video where he shows that $280k is enough to retire on at age 35-40. Maybe you return ~7% long term in the market (9-10% as someone mentioned from a dividend fund is wildly optimistic long term) which comes to roughly $20k/yr.

But that doesn't account for inflation. If you are living on roughly $20k/yr, you need to be able to grow your nest egg so that you are not just earning $20k/yr in growth 30 years down the line, but the inflation-adjusted equivalent of $20k/yr. That's why most FIRE experts recommend a withdrawal rate of ~3%: Assuming 8% growth and 5% inflation.

That would mean that a $300k nest egg would allow someone to pull the inflation-adjusted equivalent of ~$9k/month safely forever, and he would need about $700k to draw $20k/yr. Who knows maybe he saves it up and has a start now, but I've been trying to do FIRE planning and it's really not the easiest thing.

He let it get so cold in his apartment once that his pet fish froze. He walked everywhere (no car), ate super cheap, etc. He would work 3 years, save his money, then quit and spend 3 to 6 months traveling and living in a region. One time it was Norway and Sweden and Iceland. Did he have any relatives there? No. Another time it was the middle east, Israel, etc. Was he a jew or devout Christian or muslim? No.

Then he would return to the U.S. and get another job, which was easy for him to do because he's a talented programmer and has low salary requirements, and start the 2 to 3 year cycle all over again.
Frugal living, mini-retirements, extreme minimalism.

Seems like the guy is a F.I.R.E. (Financially Independent Retire Early) kind of person which I assume el Diesel is. Many of them live the "nomadic van life" or live in "tiny homes". Many farm and grow their own food, and drive a bike (because cars contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer).

El Diesel, once he retires on 280k at age 42 to 44, intends to spend some of the principal every year (most probably 4% of it as all FIREs intend to do). He'll probably continue to play but for much less hours. He will own property (raw land) and probably put a tiny home in it, possibly off grid. By paying taxes today, he will have social security at age 62, which will propel him to having income once the 280k finally runs out because of the 11k per year withdrawals. He may be looking forward to inheritance since he seems to be close to his Dad.

I can't remember which philosopher said that happiness comes not from acquiring more things but by being satisfied with less. el Diesel has things figured out based on the values he lives by.

Anyone else tired of watching just released vlogs with content from weeks and months ago?

I'm personally done with them. If I want hand histories and how to play hands, I'll watch Daniel Dvoress, Sulsky, and Jungleman over at Run It Once. Real experts with great track records.

In the meantime, just Trooper and El Diesel for the daily viewing. Any suggestions on vloggers that have fresh content? I'll take raw freshness over well edited ancient history.

Lol the guy who can only beat poker for 14/hr is just gonna casually outperform the market by 50%, ok sure

Lex O and Lexi Gavin are mostly up to date, at least within a week.

The daily viewings are just repetitive and unwatchable.

I'd rather have (recent) history that's well thought out/scripted/planned/whatever over yesterday's same stupid crap they do every day, 10 times out of 10.

The Caesars poker room is a DUMP. It was amazing when I was there how crappy that room is, considering the name.

MGM properties and non Caesars properties have better rooms IMO

The amount of nits and OMC at Ceasars its through the roof. The majority of the players there is just after killing time, getting double tier points while waiting for the nutz.

Planet Hollywood had lots of good games, but as we all know that room is history now.

If he can sustain punting off 800+ bbs in one hand, more power to him. Entertaining to hear his thought process though, that JJ was "definitely a hand that he would expect to get a fold from" (and vs Rampage nonetheless).

Yeah, i mean at this point he is delusional and not thinking objectively when reviewing his own hands (punts).

The thing with the big hand against Rampage is that he is overbluffing,a leak that Rampage seems to be tuned in on. Like look at what Mariano says at the end "i can just as well have KK/AA there when i blast off 3 streets". Sure he can have that, but with his wide 3 bet frequenzy against a button open+blasting off for multiple streets postflop with that wide range he have alot more bluffs and airballs than valuehands in that spot.

This is what happens usually when you run like god for a good while, and then the downswing hits. The pain is too much to handle at some point. You arent thinking cleary, starting to justify bad plays to yourself ++.

Edit: The way to exploit a calling non believing station like Rampage is to bluff LESS, not more.

He would get to that $300k fot retirement, faster, getting a $16/hr job at a 24hr Starbucks and maxing their 401k match contribution than 14/hr poker that you have to make a 2 day cross country trip for

Anybody else see Liveking's rage-hate on Lex-O, maybe 2 of his vlogs ago? Would like to know the backstory there.

I used to watch Lex-O on the reg 6 months ago, but his vlogs got painfully repetitive, which can be a problem for any poker vlogger.

Did Pokerbeast get his car back? I loved his vlogs, hope he's doing okay.

I always thought it was over rated from day 1. I very rarely ever play there when I am in Vegas.

Seriously, doing this would create such a major mis-alignment between his deepest held life values versus his daily actions that he would no longer be able to live with himself. No go.

Currently, his is living each moment his way and seems content.

Yeah, I thought the same thing after watching the vlog. Maybe that move is going to get one pair to fold super often vs a scared nit like Vertucci, but between Rampage's non-believing style and the fact that Mariano is out there on streams and vlogs constantly firing big with air, it probably wasn't great from a meta standpoint.

I did notice on Instagram yesterday he posted from Agua Caliente playing what looked to be 5/T (maybe T/20?), so good on him for having the discipline to chill out for a bit.
