Your hand is too close to the typical 1/2 villain's call/fold like to make a bet very profitable and it may not be profitable at all.
Yeah it's pretty funny to see people comparing raising KQ from the blinds to someone limping 43o from UTG and calling down with bottom pair. Even if raising KQ was correct, the two are nowhere close to debatable.

Also, we must consider context here. Trooper's fans are in large part nowhere close to as good of a poker player as Trooper. So while Trooper may not be 3betting suited wheel aces at an optimal frequency he can still point out obvious flaws that many terrible 1/2 players make.

According to my solvers KQ in the BB after 3-4 limpers is a check 32.9%. Trooper was just balancing. And, it worked exploitatively against that particular opponent in that particular situation!

Sometimes, we need to adapt our actions to specific situations...which Trooper did.

Using solver percentages, and even just the word “solver” for that matter, is also the perfect balancing to keep people from thinking you are Trooper while defending him. Legitimately well done.

OMC just gained a subscriber in me. Dude seems like he has lived the coolest life ever. I don't even care that he is horrible at poker now. I want more of these videos.

OMC puts those Nomadland people - who brag about having lived the mobile lifestyle for 4 years - to shame. I'm very interested in the near 100% mobile nature of OMC's life.

He looks like someone who picks good people to be his good friends, and who himself is a good person who would also be a good friend to those people.

A double category vlog (poker plus nomad living) would boost his viewership and subscription base. In addition to poker stuff, he can vlog about how to set up solar power, how to find parking, managing waste, adjusting to weather, etc. These are things that are probably second nature to him and would therefore take for granted. But for most people, these mobile subjects are myseries.

I find it quite strange reading people criticize OMC's play. He literally plays like every decent 1/2 old timer reg ever. I'm just shocked that people are shocked about how he plays his hands.

Good luck finding a bunch of sickos senior citizens (OMC's age or older). I can count the # of good ones I know of on one hand and that's taking into consideration every player I've ever played with, every player I know of from these forums, and every famous poker pro that I've ever heard of.

OMC does seem like a good guy and there does seem to be a market for him making these tutorial type videos, well labeled about RV maintenance and lifestyle.

The concept of his videos always appeal to me but than I start them up and there incredibly boring.

Trooper is big, bad, and tough in his vlog but in real life he is a slouching, quiet, wimp. It's all an act folks. He's a chubby man in his late 40's who always wears a hoodie even in 110 degree weather. He's very self conscience of his appearance and clearly is overcompensating for something with his over the top tough guy act in the vlogs.

I'm not sure if he did it for laughs originally and just kept the persona going or if he's really so scared of someone approaching his aggressively now that people recognize him walking around that he needs to project this 'don't mess with me' image.

Just remember, the guy who tells everyone that he can beat up anyone on a daily basis is usually the weakest guy. It's the quiet guy who doesn't boast about it that can actually mess you up if it comes down to it.

OMC needs more of these videos and less poker focused videos. I skip his poker stuff but have watched his RV and travel videos with interest. I think it would be interesting to hear about the women of his life that he teased in this video.

My dog is the biggest wimp in the world. If he sees a bigger dog approaching him and he's on the leash, he would literally get down on his belly and not move an inch.

But when he's running around freely, he would growl and bark from a distance like he's actually a tough dog.

Then the big dog approaches him and he once again gets down on his belly.

Yokosawa's casino had the official open today. Yokosawa decides to visit his own casino, but in makeup done by a professional makeup artist (as opposed to the amateur job they did last time he tried to discreetly visit another amusement casino). I assume this was shot last week during the pre-open. His fake name is Akio Otsuka (the voice actor for Solid Snake in Japanese). Only Hiroki and some of the staff at the casino know it's Yokosawa.

Once Yokosawa is seated at a table, Hiroki gives him a bunch of commands to follow and they will see if he gets exposed as Yokosawa. First, he greets his table. Then he orders drinks for the players sitting next to him. Judging by her body language, the woman next to him looks very uncomfortable interacting with fake Yokosawa. Then he orders a hamburger, a beef bowl, a chicken dish and a dessert. They are framing all these things as what one would do at a real casino (greet your neighbors, buy them drinks and order food while playing) in order to demonstrate that Roots is giving their customers a real casino experience.

Next, Hiroki tells Yokosawa to say "Make sense!" (his catchphrase) when he wins a pot. He goes all in, wins the blinds and says the line, prompting laughter at the table. He responds "I'm Otsuka. I'm Otsuka." Yokosawa texts Hiroki saying he was almost exposed. Others at the table do the "make sense" gesture.

He goes to the back of the store to chat with Hiroki and says he was exposed at his table but not at other tables. He returns to his table and removes the makeup in front of everyone. The lady sitting next to him comes back to thank him for buying her the drink. She says she saw "Hiroki" on his phone when he was texting.

He goes all in AT vs 88 and loses and is left with only enough to go all in the next hand due to the blinds and antes. He wins and keeps doubling up to eventually make the final table but busts in 9th with KK vs 99 vs KQ. Yokosawa ends the vlog by giving a positive review of the casino and his experience.

I am curious about the relationship between the casino and Yokosawa. If you go to the website of the casino and all their social media, there is no mention of any affiliation with Yokosawa. In his own vlogs, he frames it as if it is his casino, he started it, he designed it, etc. but my guess is that he has little to no equity in the business, has no involvement in the day to day management of the company and they have explicitly chosen not to make it the "Yokosawa casino" so that when/if the next Yokosawa scandal occurs, they don't have to pull an Aria (when they changed their "Ivey Room" to "Table One" after his edge sorting scandal) and can quietly fire him without otherwise affecting their image and operations.

Yeah, if not raising there is a mistake for a given lineup of villains, we're talking like a 1-2BB mistake in terms of expectation maybe. VERY small. Whereas at 1/2 you see people make 50BB+ mistakes all the time.

Very true. If making the "wrong play" keeps the fish fishy, then it's the better play.

Doesn't Tim just delete the negative posts on his YouTube channel? I thought that is why he stopped posting under his real name in this thread because he can't delete the negative posts and is forced to deal with real questions/criticisms.

I wonder how many days/vlogs back Trooper keeps tabs on each morning to check for posts to delete. He probably spends 1 hour or more each day doing that.

I will unapologetically admit that, despite being an incurable liberal and it being obvious OMC is not, I am man enough to put that aside and still watch every video of his that comes out lately. I find it fascinating that he has led this lifestyle most of his life. I first assumed he only bought an RV after his retirement.
But I still don't think of him as much of a poker player. And I would be disappointed in some people who defend his poker playing only because they agree with his politics. I won't name names.

Just watched rampages video of his punt. I mean, must've been excruciating to do a vlog of the worst hand of your life. But that was so cringy where you make a mistake at each street. He can't even defend any of it. I'm surprised he doesn't get felted more often as he doesn't learn and change strategy

Just watched the latest OMC vlog.
What a disaster. Trooper Thursday. He has pocket Queens in late and just calls after just about the whole table limps. Of course he lost to a straight. At least he admitted afterwards that it was a mistake not to raise.
I can now understand why he has no luck on Trooper Thursday. When you have everyone limping every hand. How can you win against such strong players, When everyone is always going to a flop?
But I like how instead of commenting about the hands, he records the table talk. Something different.
Just itching to finally get back to the tables again myself. Only trick will be to find the right games. Tough competition where I can truly measure my poker skills. No more seeking out the soft tables like I'd did in the past. OMC is an inspiration.
