I'm the same way. When I travel, I don't really care for going to famous landmarks and such. I'd much rather spend my time in a new place exploring the town and backroads and getting lost.


On the other hand, going to a new place and just sitting around in the same place all day? Yea, that's bizarre.

Yea, I consider it sightseeing too, but when I tell some friends I went somewhere and never visited whatever famous landmark is in the area, they seem shocked that I 'didn't do any sightseeing'.

People are free to see whatever they'd like when they're in a new place, but I would just assume that most people would at least go out to see SOMETHING new. Landmarks, some new restaurant, just walking around, whatever.


But I think travelling somewhere just to sit in one place and not see anything new while there is objectively bizarre. Maybe that's just me.
