Hellmuth is known for making tons of deals at the final table. He only cares about titles/trophies regardless of how much he really won. For instance, when he won the Main Event against Johnny Chan, they made a major deal. The Hendon figures don't come close to his real numbers, and that's just the wins and cashes. There is also the part about costs.
Trooper is definitely down big time this year, but he was overall winners last year. There was an earlier post in this thread about Trooper's long term results. I think it was positive. Hellmuth's is definitely negative once you combine cash and tournaments.
This does not make Trooper better than Hellmuth who has cultivated a persona that gets him endorsement money. Phil is also happily married to a highly paid Doctor.
