Imagine how funny it would be to make a poker vlog as a troll.

You tout yourself as a professional poker player but you make less than minimum wage at the lowest stakes.

You make a directions video to Allegiant Stadium from Bellagio but then think ya I need to make another one from a casino right across the street at Horseshoe cause ya, it's across the street. No one could anyone figure out the way from Horseshoe.

But then you realize, this is not a troll. Someone actually thinks this way and totally believe how they are living the #pokerlife is optimal.

yeah this

another neat trick is to make your user control panel your landing page
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/usercp.php

do that and you have all the threads you either subbed directly or indirectly (when you post in a thread it auto subs you) with fresh unread content up, from there you use the arrow above that ron shows

Rice is perpetually bemused as to why no one else seems to share his philosophy or emulate any of his optimal lines throughout life's little journey. His smugness and false sense of supreme arrogance never wavers even for a second.

If you are going to retire at age 45, and live until age 80, you can have some of your retirement assets in taxable accounts that will carry you from 45-60, and then have some of your money in non-tax (Roth) accounts to pay for expenses post-60 (plus Social Security etc will kick in). You spend down the taxable stuff first and then withdraw the tax-advantaged funds.

Withdrawing whatever measly money Diesel had saved up into his Roth by the time he was 30 early and paying tax on it might be one of the most insanely boneheaded Diesel financial moves of this journey. He could have just put all new savings into a taxable account and kept his Roth $$ for post-60 living.
Absolutely. Diesel sounds like a 25 year old. "59 is too far away, I'm just going to retire on my 22 grand per year of dividends. Why do people do that?". He's like a child that never looks past his next few birthdays. Sure he can live on almost no money - because he lives in comped hotel rooms. Those comps end when he quits playing. Guess he plans on living in a tent. He's not going to get Social Security because he doesn't have enough years in a real job. A normal real person 30 years old will spend the next 30-35 years accumulating enough money so he can live when he retires. Diesel's plan seems to be to inherit his parents house. What if they leave it to his brother? Or change their minds, sell it, and move to Europe?

Most Americans are doing the opposite with their IRA's. They're converting their ordinary IRA to a Roth.

I realised it was a repost, but why is it funny?

Yeah, if you retire early, you can convert regular IRA funds to a Roth IRA, you just have to pay income tax on the conversion. But if you only convert enough to remain in the 0% tax bracket, it's essentially avoiding income tax on that conversion. Then just live off your assets in your taxable accounts.

With a 20%+ reduction in the value of Rice's portfolio, he better stay off the top floor of the parking structures.
As much as he thinks he knows it all, he hardly knows squat when it comes to finance. When the market takes a dump he doesn't know how to hedge. He'd be lucky to lose only 20%, it would probably be twice that.

Rice would sell at the bottom and buy at the top.

A lot of financial planners are recommending doing it now, because taxes as a part of your income will never be lower. Better to take the tax hit now, and have your nest egg grow without being taxed for the next 20, 30, 40 years.

Hello long time no post. Recently wanted to do poker vlogging again for funsies.

Here's my pilot tester episode for video graphics, editing and voice. I picked the first 3 hands in my folder, so just gonna go through them in order in the coming days/weeks.

Trying to replicate the graphics of Wolfgang because that setup seems to be what people like (looks like poker stream).

Graphic suggest thanks

hey there, I'm saying this all with love and being really nitpicky so feel free to discard all of this, genuinely wish you the best luck going forward

sound

I'm not knowledgeable enough to say what it is, but the sound is bad, it's like your voice is dragging like there's some feedback and it's making it really difficult to watch

could just be me so if nobody else agrees feel free to ignore

last year i was in talks with another person about doing a podcast with them (never happened) and during the exploration process i discovered that nearly everyone ends up upgrading their mic after the first attempts and found noticeable sound upgrades and then if they find an audience will then invest in a very expensive and professional recording setup

another thing is it just feels really sterile which feels off for poker content where we're used to hearing chips shuffle, floozies yelling in the background and cards on the felt, one option could be to explore taking the slow poker audio route where he feeds in nearly inaudible background soundtracks - could also help to use the background sound of recorded on the video itself as the background ambience (slow poker regularly interrupts his background soundtrack to pipe in what he and villains say during hands

content

it would have been way better to say "he was slow playing 32" instead of "he had a two pair, i don't know, i forgot" when you're literally taking the time to break down this specific hand of all the hands you played and you don't even know what it was really undermines your credibility

yes, i know this is a test and you're using old footage etc etc

just the "oh i forgot what i lost to but i lost the hand" happy go luckey schtick can work on a degen/fun vlog like brettski but you seem to be taking an analytical approach talking about hand reading, live tells, ranges people are repping

if you want to say things like "i don't know what he had when he showed it" then you also gotta take a much more lighthearted approach here - figure out what kind of audience you're targeting and mold it around that - and definitely take notes on hands you're going to breakdown

i would do an intro and closing to the end, doesn't need to be much just where you are what you bought in what you racked up with etc

video

feels weird the way you chose the camera angle, I'm not knocking it and it could be an improvement for all i know, but it's offputting not having your POV, when you flipped over the cards in hand one i thought that was the villain and you accidentally said "guy on your left" when you meant the guy on your right - could be your trademark or something idk, but it's definitely not the norm

i don't like the choice where you have two different layouts for the action, you have old man and blue man to the left and then what they bet overlaying as well - it's just noisy and confusing - choose either everything to the side or everything overlayed and stick to it

would also be way better to be able to show the flop instead of having a bad angle and blurry image of the flop that you need to superimpose graphics over

ie most of this could have been achieved with just overlaying graphics onto a blank screen, you don't really seem to capture being at the table and the video is treated like a desktop background rather than what it should be, the main focus as this is a video vlog

I have the majority of my cash sitting in my brokerage paying 5% APR. I'll make a couple grand or so this year doing nothing, ty thread for confirmation that this is a good idea.

Another thing that boggled my mind is that rice couldn't be bothered to show up once a week at a predetermined time for a Rice Sunday type of thing.

Something about infringing on the freedom of his time. Hearing this, it casts doubt on the idea of him dealing during the series.

Nevermind the chance of him meeting a Rice mark/whale. Networking is an unknown concept to this guy?

i think your 2p2 peer gazzyb has by far the best POV I've ever seen

he doesn't really capture the community cards well and needs the overlay like you, but this just takes you there like you're playing the hand and it's really good IMO

slow poker is a very close 2nd IMO

notice how both, despite that you can't really see what's happening in the middle of the screen put all the graphics to the bottom and side because we don't need to give all that real estate to that - the key driver is playing poker vicariously through you guys

but... you're way better than el diesel so you're starting off hot!

Wonder if El D is going to this tomorrow:

Quote:
The Orleans will be hosting auditions tomorrow m, 4/16, for summer dealers in the room at 930 and 11am, 1230, 230, and 330pm. If you would like 11am or 4pm start times, you will be required to know all mixed games. If Hold'em only, that shift will start at 6pm. Dress in black pants and a white button down

Aye, zero chance, as it'd require rice to interrupt his lifestyle to make an appointment at a predetermined time, like a slave of some sort.

Prove me wrong El D

Edit: Zero chance he has.the attire required. To do so would mean having to drive to Ross Dress for Less, or the nearest Thrift Shop

Thanks for the long feedback.

Regarding sound, I'm using a blue yeti and it's strange because most users say it does the job. Maybe I got the settings / layout (mic to mouth) distance all wrong.

focus on POV, and adding in back the casino white noise at like 15% volume.

Much love @ rickroll
