Where is that staircase? I like art deco. *** Oops, I missed the caption at the bottom.

They were testing the sphere last week, but I'd like to see some pics from this week.

oh man, sorry. that's in the private 'Balcony' section of the Smith's center.
all those lights in the dark hallway are the individual balcony booths.

Liminal Spaces would be a great bar name,

I shot this the other day... off industrial.

that sucker was flying and I was actually quite nervous standing so close. if a piece of metal, wire or rope was hanging off, I would have been decapitated.
The sound was deafening in person.
gotta go sometime I guess.

some random pics of the far northern part of what was formerly lake mead (taken in 2019)

the ghost town of St. Thomas lies below in the brown area. the entire area you see was covered by 100' of water 20 years ago. you can access St. Thomas just south of the farthest northern entrance station (look for the sign or just ask for directions at the station) by a dirt road that is approx. 2 miles long. this is also near the eastern entrance to valley of fire btw. i don't think most people realize this is here. it is worth checking out if you are interested in Southern Nevada history. Several pictures & signs have been setup by the Park Service to explain what buildings used to be in those spots.

ruins of the elementary school

house foundation

echo bay used to be the northernmost marina in Lake Mead. Now it is basically deserted (and water-free) except for a RV park.

Years ago there was a resort there. Now it is just a dilapidated building:

The view from behind the resort circa 1999:

from 2019 (the water seen in this photo is now gone from what I've been told):

I’m overjoyed to log in and find this thread. I haven’t been active on these boards the past 5 or 6 years, and have mostly lost my taste for social media during that same time frame, but my passion for photography pulses unabated. Also slightly unhinged to find MSchu18 casually mentioning liminal spaces, a concept which I was literally introduced to yesterday. Then today I log on to the boards for the first time in a blue moon and am immediately confronted by a photo and caption of exactly such a space. Coincidence or?

I have literally thousands of photos of Vegas from my trips over the years. Gonna take a bit of an image dump here shortly, I just need some creative laxative first. Some of these appeared in my old LVL TRs. I love telling stories through images, I’ll keep captions to a minimum. Will probably be back in Vegas in a couple of weeks and maybe I’ll bring a real camera this year.

Just started looking through my digital archives. They don’t cover my first ever Vegas trip which was the tail end of my honeymoon back in ’96. Mrs. Pixel and I had just spent two magical weeks on Kauai and honestly Vegas was a bit of a letdown after spending time on (literally) Fantasy Island. There are photos of the Vegas portion of the honeymoon, but all too few and all were taken with film cameras. I’ve never digitized those images; they exist only as ephemera mounted in physical albums.

All photos I post here were taken by me in Vegas on an iPhone.

Liminal space, in Vegas am I doing this right?
