Hello everyone,

What are the most important things you look for in a poker room?

Amenities? Game selection? Rake? Promotions?

What are most important to you.

Thanks

I tend to avoid rooms with ridiculous promotions- Aces cracked, splash pots etc. I do not really have a list of "must haves" or things I like. I played in a lot of different rooms but I find myself mostly at Aria-90% of the time, after that bellagio Ill go to Wynn and Venetian for tournaments. No specific reason I just like Aria I guess. I can say I do not like the Venetian because I have had a few disagreements with the dealers and floor about what denomination chips I buy in with.Free parking helps.

I voted anyway even though I'm not a Vegas local. I might change my mind if I actually played full time (even though some think I play FT now!!), but rooms that make it easy to play .. fountain drinks in the room, bathroom close, convenient cage, convenient to outside air for a break, easy parking, snacks?, TVs, chairs, clean chips, consistent Floor/seating, competent Dealers ...

I'm bold enough to think I can enjoy and try to turn a profit in most any game, so it comes down to whether or not I feel welcome and if I feel like I want to be there. GL

The main thing I am interested in as a degen is drink service and some type of high hand or bad beat jackpot. I want to play poker with the chance at winning 1M at the bad beat.

Well you won't see a BBJ even 10% of that 1M anywhere near Vegas.

dreams shattered, but at least you can drink the pain away.

Since I recently switched to live 1/2 nl I've mainly focused on soft games and promotions trying to strike a balance between that to maximize my hourly.

Most of the promos I've been grinding are hours based ones so I also try to find times to play when the least amount of other grinders are there getting their hours.

I've found that if you play the bare minimum hours to qualify for whatever promos you can often come out ahead of the $2 promo drop in these places, and it sort of unlocks it as a viable place to play whereas other pros who can't or wont do the promo freerolls would get raked too much playing there over non promo rooms.

Once I move up to 1/3 and 2/5 (soon it's looking like) I will solely be looking at game quality and stop caring about promotions/rake.

A comfy chair is nice. Also room between tables and between chairs. A non-disappearing waitress.

All important, though I've discovered that tipping keeps waitresses from disappearing.

As a local, any 1/2 games that arent nit fests. I could name a few spots that are nit fests, but I wont. Overall lately I've been very unsatisfied with the 1/2 games in Vegas. That could be me and how bad I'm playing. But I think at least a small part of it has to do with the nitty games and it being seemingly difficult to find a game with more than 2 or 3 bad players....

Somewhere that isn't very noisy from slot machines and the general ambiance as far as the room goes. For the game, I want a table that players don't hover around the min buyin for their stacks. If the median is 100 thats not the best sign and any lower and I'd try moving. Also if more than 2 players are on their ipads, hoodies up, ordering green teas then I know its about to be a nitfest and I avoid

Anything else you require ? You want a good-looking masseuse to give you 20 minute back rubs for solely a rev share of your winnings ?

You are asking for reference to a good game, but are unwilling to detail what you know about nitty games ?

If you can't win when meeting your minimum requirement of 2 - 3 bad players, that's probably on you, no offense.

Tell you what though, any table I sit at has at least one bad player ... that's a start.

1. I believe I stated that I've been playing bad.
2. Where in my post was I asking for where the good games are?

My bad, I took your lead be a question, that you were looking for one:

"As a local, any 1/2 games that arent nit fests."

Good luck.

I would like to get in and out of the poker room without getting the stench of cigarette smoke all over me!

Game selection... there aren't that many +EV promotions anymore.
