Las Vegas is Infested With Hit and Run Donkeys Las Vegas is Infested With Hit and Run Donkeys

This is my third day in Las Vegas, and I'm appalled at how many hit and run donkeys I've played with today. It seems as if half the time somebody doubles up, they leave within the next 5 minutes.

What is up with all these hit and run artists in Las Vegas?

Based on your posting history, you get shocked/outraged/appalled pretty easily.

Might want to check your blood pressure..

This was something I expected to see more of at the lowerstakes games when I was there last because of the combination of the tightness of games and the multiple venues around. Sorry to hear you experienced it, it's ****ing terrible for the game

The people who care that much about a $300 win are the same types that will fold for 3 straight hours after winning a big pot. I'd prefer the ones that just get up and leave

You really believe it is limited to Vegas and the surrounding area? Most tourists out there for a few days are perfectly content to rack up and go and you will see this in ANY area noted for tourism. If they can at least break even on their vacation, they are happy. They have no obligation to stick around and play...

And as someone else notes, if they leave, someone else comes in who brings with them a new stack to the table. Whether you also contribute to THEIR vacation replenishment fund is up to you...

Or they pick up after making a slightly -EV play and getting berated by the Vegas 'pro' who they just stacked.

I think it's even more general than that. The value of locking up wins is underrated even (especially?) among regs.

People are as prone to "rungood tilt" as they are to "runbad tilt." If you've had 23 losing sessions in a row and want to lock up a winning session to mentally break the streak, that's probably long term EV+. If you're playing the biggest game you've played and have the biggest stack you've ever had, the value of rushing home and notching a massive win in your log book may outweigh future EV. Or if you spend 8 hours in the hole and pull yourself to breakeven, you may decide to skip whatever time you have left in order to avoid the probability of going home dejected.

Of course if you're a poker machine and can robotically play A+ poker with zero emotional response, obviously ignore the above.

I do this sometimes if I'm playing a game with a capped buy-in. There's no point in playing a big stack if no one can chip up to cover me. I'm not trying to tilt anyone, it's just that I prefer to play bigger pots.

Quit losing pots to them would be my advice.

Apparently he targets people who have just won pots rather than just trying to make money from the table. "Interesting" strategy.

So people never buy in for the max? What game are you playing? 1-2 NL at Excalibur?

Hit and running is definetely very common in Vegas compared to other places. There is no way around it. It can be tilting when the big fish pulls off a big suckout, then celebrates only to instarack up or lie about he suddenly "have to meet wife for dinner". Yeah sure, just a coincidence that you just pulled off a 3 outer for a huge pot and then suddenly had to insta leave after that.

Yeah its certainly a sport amongst nit regs, scared money villains, OMC and fish in Vegas, but unfortunately its just something we have to deal with. If they want to hit and run they gonna hit and run. But i agree with OP that it certainly can be frustrating.
