For fans of French food:

One of the best meals I remember having in Vegas was Le Cirque at Bellagio. We (my gf and I) did the tasting menu. I would describe it as "traditional fancy" French food. It doesn't have quite the same creative flare that other similarly priced French restaurants have (I have been lucky enough in my life to dine at French Laundry), but everything was superb quality. Great intimate atmosphere, too.

Bouchon at the Venetian is great for dinner. I know everyone says it's great for lunch but their dinners are super tasty too. We dined there for New Year's this year and I had monkfish for the first time. Did not dissapoint.

Avoid the other French restaurant at the Venetian, I forgot its name bit it's across from b&b. We went there for breakfast once and I asked for a Croque Madame. The waiter seemed confused with my order as if he'd never heard of one before (and it's not like I was ordering off the menu, it was one of the items!). I ended up waiting for about an hour and ended up with a crappy grilled cheese sandwich with a badly fried egg on top. Later found out the bartender had been taking everyones orders, and I actually think he was cooking all the food too, as if the rest of the staff decided to take the day off. It was kind of hilarious actually, felt bad for the guy. Now maybe we just had an exceptionally unlucky/bad experience but I'm probably not gonna take my chances again. Bouchon is the clear choice out of the two!

Which restaurant is considered the best French restaurant in Vegas, if not Le Cirque or Bouchon? I know there are many and would love some suggestions. We'll be visiting in few weeks.

Do you mean pinot brasserie?

Guy savoy, Joel robuchon and Alex were considered the creme. If not that they were certainly the highest rated. But Alex closed a week or so ago.

I've said before and I'll say it until I find something better...Joel Robuchon is the best meal I've ever had. Better than Laundry, Per Se, Daniel, Cyrus, etc...

god I love Red Snapper, and you can't even get it here in the midwest.

Jimmy, I'm definitely putting Milos high on my list.

American Fish

Scarpetta

Carnevino

Milos
Bartolotta
thanks man! no you did not come off as a prick, and I did read from post 1200 onward, I just got overwhelmed with the amount of places being mentioned. I know to search before I make a thread =P , I figured this was the best place to ask my question, thanks for the help!!

Blue Ribbon is still my #1 spot to eat right now.
Really? I've dined there twice and won't be going back. The service is apathetic, the sushi is good but not noteworthy, and there are a variety of little things that make me think the place is poorly run.

Top recommendations for lamb?

They do a spiced lamb burger in the Eiffel Tower restaurant for lunch that is amazing.

Delmonico does an excellent Colorado rack of lamb.

Haven't had lamb other places, so limited recommendation list.

Yes that's the one. I'll definitely put Guy Savoy and Robuchon on my list. Thanks for the recommendations everybody.

Picasso > Guy Savoy > Alex IMO.

JR is better, but also 3x the price.

Really? Better than French Laundry? The French Laundry was the best meal I have ever had in my life, although it might have been a combination of the experience and food (I sat at the chef's table in the kitchen and the meal was prepared by Thomas Keller himself). Joel Robuchon in Paris was better than the one here in Vegas IMO but both were amazing and definitely 2 and 3 on my list.

It's gotta be.

I haven't been to that one but have been to Pinot Bistro and Cafe Pinot (both in/around LA) and run about 80% great experiences/20% his experience. I can't see the point though in going to Pinot Brasserie when Bouchon is in the same complex.

After being to Pinot I completely agree, but we wanted to try it just to see, since we'd been to Bouchon every time before that. Big mistake!

I disagree on several points

I like Guy Savoy more than Picasso. On the other hand, I've been to Guy Savoy once and Picasso probably ten times, so maybe I'm just sick of the Picasso menu (which is short and doesn't change much).

Guy Savoy and JR are solidly in the same price range. The 16 course menu at Robuchon is 385. 10 courses at Guy Savoy is 290. Both places have options ranging from about $100 up.

Picasso does 4 courses plus dessert for $123. Robuchon does 4 courses, including dessert, for $180. It's definitely more expensive, but nowhere near 3x as much.

Ate at Dal Toro for the first time ever. Acceptable on all accounts for the price point, exceptional or noteworthy in no real way however, except for a brilliant mushroom soup special. Doubt I go back but wouldn't at all object if I did.

Am I correct in assuming that all Pinot joints in LA are also splichal restaurants?

I'm surprised. I also thought the sushi was comparable but not outstanding relative to the nobu/koi/okada class, aside from some amazing monkfish liver I had the first time through. But the hot items ive had have been very good, including the famous fried chicken. But I've had great service each time. We were one of the last groups in the place on Saturday of opening weekend and they encouraged us to take our time, were very thorough in the explanation of what we received, answered every question about the sake menu, and the manager came over towards the end to make sure everything was good.

That same manager has recognized me every time I've been back and stopped to say hello, introducing himself and gone so far as to comp a miso black cod and an ox tail fried rice when jay and I were done with our omakase and weren't quite stuffed. That's the kinda service I'm looking for. Maybe just variance, but I understand for that price there shouldn't be variance in your service.
