Went to Guy Savoy last night. The service was incredible. The food was pretty much the most disappointed I've ever been at a restaurant.

Bouchon was the best meal I've eaten in Vegas and is only a little pricier than the Olive Garden. Make sure you know how to find it well before your reservation though.

Xaston,

Please elaborate if you have the time. That's quite disappointing.

Zele,

I've sung the praises of Bouchon far too many times, and I haven't been to an Olive Garden in more than a decade, but generally I spend a good bit of loot there. I agree that it's a great value (especially given the quality) for Las Vegas or any major city, but if you do a couple of courses and order wine, the bill easily can climb to the $150 per person mark.

Two weeks ago, I went a little meat crazy there. Foie gras terrine (special), pate, boudin blanc. All were excellent. I might have been compensating for the fact that I went all seafood last time.

One thing I'll mention to all is that the desserts are consistently great. So simple and tasty.

Consistency across the board at Bouchon need be mentioned. I've read and heard so many bad things about Las Vegas restaurants with regard to this area. Many $150 per person and up places may be good once, but I'm told they fall flat on a return visit. I've now been to Bouchon at least six times for dinner, and they have been on point every time.

Alex

I have high expectations for a two-star Michelin restaurant. I scoured message boards and talked to folks around town about who had the very best food right now. Trustworthy people pointed me to Alex.

The experience is astonishingly sublime. After the meal, I felt like I was walking on air. Wynn, and the world, looked different.

We did the full tasting menu (plus cheese) with the wine pairings (with a bottle of Burgundy substituted for two courses). The overall progression was classic and well-planned. Ingredients were superb and execution was flawless. On the whole, the dishes were thoughtfully composed - no gimmicks, just greatness.

I'll briefly mention the standout courses.

First course: Toro, osetra caviar, cucumber pearls

As I mentioned to my friend, often you'll see chefs on television shows and reality competitions talking about fresh clean flavors. I can't imagine anything that nails "fresh and clean" more than this dish.

Final savory course: Waygu beef, fava beans/puree, bordelaise sause

You know the scene in Ratatouille where the critic flashes back to his childhood? Well, that happened for me with this dish in two ways. When I tasted the beef and sauce, I felt like a child at my grandmother's. Granted my grandmother never used such ingredients, but she always cooked roast beef with a classic sauce. It was just perfect. Then when I tasted the fava beans, I felt like I had been whisked away to Florence. Deft simplicity.

Dessert: Defies description

As I was hunting around online for the menu I had I came across a NYT review that echoes my sentiments. It was beautiful. I didn't understand what it was, and I didn't care. I still certainly adore the simple desserts at Bouchon, but this creation's complexity made it mind-bogglingly good. There was chocolate, hazelnuts, fruit, marshmallow, caramel and all kinds of other decadent deliciousness.

Wine manager Paolo Barbieri is in fact a master. I don't think there's much more I can say.

This was the finest meal I've had in Las Vegas, and one of the most memorable ones I've ever had.

I had super high expectations. Two star michelin, Guy Savoy, Hung used to work there, etc.

We had the 9 course menu. There was also a mushroom dish thrown in, 4 amuses, and a bunch of breads/desserts.

Of all of the things I ate, only about 5 of them were actually good. There was a burger amuse (a slider slider, if you will), heirloom tomato water/soup, the mushroom dish, the bass with crispy skin, and the chicken (it wasn't chicken but I forgot what they said it was, silly french words/accents) were all tasty and enjoyable.

Pretty much everything else was between meh and ok. Nothing was really outright BAD. But for a two star michelin restaraunt I expect more than "not bad."

There were 2 dessert courses, and a dessert cart with lots of goodies. The first dessert course was a nice looking plate with dry ice underneath that they poured some liquid over to make a cool smoke affect. The dish itself was a quenelle of cantaloupe sorbet which was pretty good, and then just a bunch of pieces of melon.

The next dessert course was basically a kit-kat bar, only not as good (but I'm not a big fan of chocolates less sweet than milk, so maybe I'm wrong).

By the time the dessert cart was brought to us I was entirely too full to actually enjoy anything that was on it.

Mesa Grill was very disappointing.

Le Cirque was quite delicious. Kind of a small/too tight dining room with a less than relaxed feel, but the food was great and the sommelier was a real chill French dude once we started talking to him.

Picasso was incredible. It was my first ever 2-star Michelin restaurant and it didn't disappoint. We all got the 5 course degustation menu with the wine pairings. Absolutely just one delicious course after another. Also, in my experience, you will be seated at a table next to Alex Jacob if you go, so that's pretty cool too!
Being seated AT Alex Jacobs table sucks, as I learned firsthand today.

It would be great if posters can include cost/person at their recommended restaurant.

Also, pho at the pho place in Treasure Island is nasty. You will never ever find a Vietnamese person that can eat pho there twice. If you want to try Vietnamese foods in Las Vegas, go down Spring Mountain [the street between Treasure Island and Fashion Show Mall] and look for Pho restaurants on your left. The foods won't be as good as Vietnamese foods in Orange County, California but way better than these Americanized Vietnamese restaurants.

Not fine dining but both the Wolfgang Puck's in the MGM and Venetian are spectacular, highly recommend both.

Does Nobu have a sushi bar for a single to sit at? I would like to order the chefs choice but would be dining alone.

How affordable is "far from expensive". I'm trying to decide on a good restaurant to take a girl, but don't wanna drop several hundred.

You can definitely have an enjoyable meal and get out of there for less than $100 a person. Like most places it just depends on what you're ordering and if/what you're drinking.

will add on to the sentiments of N9NE, I enjoyed it alot. Was good food/service/atmosphere. We spent about $1,000 for 6 with wine/sides/etc (after gratuity). Delmonnicos was also excellent, a little classier atmsophere IMO. (N9NE was more trendy/club/etc). We plan on going to social house/nobu/etc I think in the near future.

Not sure if it's considered "fine dining" but I went with some friends to Shibuya at MGM. Several people did the thing (forgot what it's called) where you pay a flat fee, say what you like, and the chef will basically make a bunch of stuff for you. Everyone thought the food was really good, but our server was kind of a jerk and super slow with everything.

Honestly I'm not much of a wine drinker and I'd like to try a place with really good food. Any chance I can get out of any of these places for about 50 a person?

I echo the sentiment of ThaHero.

I don't really enjoy wine with my food. If I went to one of these really nice places would it be significantly cheaper to not order wine? Or does, say, a $100 tasting menu come with wine pairings built in. Also, would I get a strange look saying I didn't want wine or if I tried to order a sprite or something similar?

Stak

Hands down - the best meal in Vegas. It is $200-300 a head but well worth it!

Bradley Odgen at Caesar's -

I've eaten there twice and was impressed both times. The caesar salad is a must. They bring 3 stalks of Romain on a flat plate and you think "that's it"? Then you bite into and enjoy an ecstasy of flavor that makes you cut the salad into tiny bite so you can savour every bite.

For meals I've had the halibut and a small buffalo roast, both were sublime.

Service as mediocre one time, and almost perfect the next.

hum ha... i'm afraid i get trashtalked posting this in the "fine dining" thread,
but I'm gonna stay 2 weeks in vegas, my friends like to eat, espially stuff that I dont like, fat or too heavy, and I won't stand 2 weeks eating that sort of things...

Does anybody of you know a place where I could eat FRUITS, berries, watermelon, pinapple, mango, and at the same time which wouldn't look too much vegan-style?

I don't know if what im saying is clear enough : i would like to take my friends in this place WITHOUT them to be suspicious about it...

hum... im a bit demanding,
so if one of you know a place where one can eat fruits,
that would really be great enough.

The places I go to regularly when I'm in Vegas are the following:

Okada (Wynn)- Tremendous sushi and a great atmosphere too with the waterfall outside. I go here pretty much every time I'm in Vegas and always love it.

Olives (Bellagio)- Great Italian food and a perfect spot to eat lunch when you want some really top-shelf food with a somewhat reasonable price tag.

Mix (Mandalay Bay)- Actually a little more "hit or miss" than it should be. The first time I went there, I had the best meal of my life, but neither of the items I ordered then have been on the menu since (Kobe beef, lobster caesar salad), and since then I've probably had 2 experiences that were very good but not great, and one that was quite disappointing. Still though, it's the best view of any restaurant on the strip (60-some floors up) and the food's usually very good. If you've never been, you should go at least once.

Also, I'd highly recommend N9ne (which I see has been praised extensively) and Bouchon, both of which I enjoyed immensely the times I ate there. Valentino's at Venetian and L'Atelier were also very good.

I am a little surprised to see praise for Fix though. I've been there a couple times and didn't enjoy it at all. It's the only place open late at the Bellagio (other than the cafe), but that's about all it has working for it. The food is very mediocre bordering on bad.

Ate at Spago a few days ago for dinner. Probably the best bang for the buck of any restaurant I've been to. Chose the cafe part over the restaurant because we didn't feel like waiting plus the menus didn't look too different. My gf and I ate for ~65 and had a lot of food leftover.

Being vegetarian in Vegas is tough. What have you been doing so far? Anyone else have any recommendations for places with some decent vegetarian options? Venetian seems to have a lot of choice.

Also, any good Indian places? We tried Tamba on the strip last night which was alright, Gaylord's in the rio last year was extremely good. Any more?

Lastly, best thai place?
