If you're alone or with a bunch of guys, Cut is great. Modernish, great side dishes great service. SW will rack up sensitive guy points if you're with a lady - more romantic atmosphere. I think the food is a tiny bit less great than Cut, but it's still been exceptional when I've gone.. I'm not a big prime fan, so I'll let someone else chime in on it....

I’m in the Cut > SW camp but haven’t been to the latter in a while because something ticked me off last time we went. Obviously still a great steakhouse though.

Does anyone know what’s going to happen to the 3 spaces that Batali vacated?

@hobbes: They might have let the restaurants alone for a while longer after the initial allegations, but after that 60 Minutes story there wasn’t really any other decision than to totally separate from Batali. If that one is true, it’s close to Weinstein stuff.

Didn't see the 60 minutes story - but I assumed he did something pretty bad. I mean, if Sheldon thinks you're a piece of ****.....

Partage has taken over the Chada Street on spring mountain. Really nice french place off strip.

Also, Via Brazil in summerlin about 18 min from strip, is a alternative to Texas De brazil/Fogo De chao, and has much more variety and more cuts. Best beef ribs all time too. As well as fresh hot sizzling grilled cheese.

The restaurants had already separated themselves from Batali (as much as that can be possible, in perception or otherwise) before they were closed.

For all we know, Sheldon might have had it out for Batali for a long time and used this as justification for going nuclear. There's no reason to ever assume Sheldon Adelson has any kind of conscience or makes his decisions strictly on business terms and not petty personal ones.

I thought so too and that’s probably what they wanted people to think when they announced he would be bought out of the company by July 1.

Apparently that didn’t happen yet:

Adelson cares about money. Having restaurants that are associated with somebody who is under investigation for drugging and raping women isn’t good for business.

Question for the group.....

October, Saturday night, wedding party, looking to have a decent outing in the $100 a head range, sans alcohol.

suggestions? understanding the higher end dining will be out of range (party size is 10 if this is important).......

Obv depends on the group but if a fun crowd Id suggest going to Cosmo and getting drinks at Chandelier Bar then dinner at STK.

$100 at STK cuts it very close unless you get a small steak or only one of starter/side/desert.

The medium sized steaks are in the $70 range, starters are $20+, sides are $15 and deserts are $20.

Besides budget, the two important questions are “what kind of food do you guys like?” and “Strip only or is off-Strip OK?”.

Gobbo would say Musashi, probably.

Is this like the wedding dinner or just a get-together

steakhouses are fine if couples are sharing steak. Like if everyone wants his own $65 bone-in ribeye you're gonna have issues, but in a mixed crowd we do $100pp without alcohol at Delmonico pretty frequently with a bunch of shared apps, dessert, etc.

If you want to make sure you're under, you can scale it down a bit -- yardbird is fun, as is the latin place there in the venetian. But I'd do Chandelier bar followed by Jaleo i think. For $100, you can get like 7-8 individual things, share with others, maybe scale down and order a few bigger plates for the table, etc.

eta: i know this is fine dining and yardbird doesn't really qualify, sorry.
eta2: you have a big enough group to get a full paella at jaleo which is pretty good. fun place too but drinks are suuuuuper expensive. good though.

thanks for responses so far, definitely some places to add to the list for the Bride to choose from....

to answer a couple of the questions, on-strip i think is preferable, but other options are not off the table. This will be the wedding dinner. (Bride has asked me for suggestions, so I am coming here for help)

Last edited by IAMthepokerhack; 09-25-2018 at 11:07 AM. Reason: yardbird, while not fine dining, is in the range for sure

Great spot for a fun dining experience that includes very good food for reasonable money, but probably not for a wedding dinner?

Do you know how much they charge for the full pan and if they cook it table side or just bring the big pan?

I'm probably spoiled from eating too much good traditional Spanish food, we always traveled to Spain to spent the summer at the beach when I was a kid, but I thought the single serving paella at Jaleo wasn't very memorable. I tasted the traditional Valenciana and the one with Iberico and while there was nothing bad about it, both kinda lacked the Jose Andres twist where everything either tastes a little differently than expected or is presented in a unique way.

In case someone more knowledgable doesn't answer... My recollection is they don't cook it tableside but it looks soooo good on the table. Many of us would probably balk at the value proposition (i do anyway) -- it's good paella but for the price it should be AMAZING. I've actually never done the whole pan - we've only ever done single servings also, but I imagine if you order for 8, it's 8x single serving price but not sure. But im sure you could order (paella for 8) for 10 and it'd be enough.

Not a complete review, but I've been with two groups to the Jaleo in DC where we got the whole pan. Not quite the same because I think Vegas has the 10 million dollar paella oven, but it was completely forgettable. In fact it was probably one of the lower rated things anyone tried the whole night and this happened twice.

A paella oven? That sounds very weird tbh. I thought they made their paella the traditional way over an open wood fire? Would love to take a kitchen tour there..

Sorry not oven, there is a wood burning grill that cost millions of dollars allegedly. Just looked like a grill when I've been there in the past. But this is also the same place that served my chicken fritters in a shoe for some reason soooo, who knows?

Most of that price tag is probably related to making sure your camp fire doesn’t burn down a $4bln casino hotel

That’s what’s called doing things Jose’s way.

To be fair, while Jaleo is pretty overpriced, I think you still get more bang for your buck there than at a lot of other high-end restaurants on the Strip, including everything inside Caesars Palace.

Speaking of ridiculously high costs to build a restaurant, I’ve been told that Mott 32 at the Venetian/Palazzo is going to have a $10mil price tag. Can anyone confirm that? Apparently they plan to open late this year.

i think bardot brasserie might be a good option. I think in a wedding party atmosphere, there would be a lot of drinking so you want to probably be comfortably under the $100pp before they crush you on alcohol.
