Fully agree with sending food back if it is justified. Luckily have only had to do it a handful of times but on those rare occasions I will raise hell if needed. Although I find it a bit hard to believe Cut would botch things that badly ... anything is possible. And based on the reported attitude of the manager I would be much more likely to go nuclear on them.

I'm sure they spit or put feces in your food when you send it back or "go nuclear." Enjoy!

Are there any real options for late night fine dining on the strip? I'm getting in Friday at 11ish and want to know if there's any real options available.

J,

Cosmo places are open late. STK and blue ribbon for sure. If you're asking like French tasting menu type fine dining, not aware of anything seating that late.

I may have picked the wrong day for STK, website says 11pm midweek and midnight weekends, but they had no interest in me ordering at 10:30 midweek. I'm guessing if you get in 11ish, you won't be getting STK in time.

Here's the late night dining thread. It covers non-strip options as well, but might have some useful info.

Quick question on solo dining: For those of you who have been to "e" by Jose Andres, do you think it would be awkward going as a single because everyone is together at that bar, and there's only 8-10 seats, so the single diner would be either between two couples or at the end of the bar? Or should this not matter. I mean, it doesn't seem like the kind of place that lends itself to watching TV and scrolling through messages on the phone...

But I'm sure there's much to observe with food prep, and in general I'm happy to socialize for a few hours with strangers...

Just curious for those who have been there what would they think.

Dr,

I haven't been to e but I've dined alone at l'atelier a couple times and there it's absolutely not awkward at all.

@dr,

I've been to é. You'll be absolutely fine as a single. It's as much a show as a meal. There are at least 4 staff there for the entire meal prepping/plating, and they were all happy to talk about whatever - and we had a fair amount of chat w. The other group who was dining with us.

The whole atmosphere is really laid back for high-end dining. Recommend checking it out.

Cool, thanks guys. I had been thinking about going to L'Atelier for years, but some less enthusiastic reviews here and elsewhere made me think about "e" instead. So I just ended up scoring a sunday (in june)reservation for e, so I thought I would use that for my one high-end meal of that trip.

You could spend the whole meal talking to the team preparing the food and have a great time. You'll probably wind up talking to the other patrons though. We got super lucky and the woman in the other couple worked in HR for José Andrés organization. Very interesting to talk to her about some of the business behind high end restaurants.

Beech,

It would be amazing if everyone is trolling you and there are like eight sets of glorious paired chairs at the bar and then one rickety chair shoved in some ****ty back corner for the rare solo diner.

Back corner by the kitchen and bathroom. On a stool with a cardboard box for the table.

Well, at least you're not in the actual kitchen.

raku is much diff style of food it's more cooked small plates (some delicious blue find sashimi n other raw fish but not really any sushi) and it is absolutely fantastic.

I'm not into tofu at all but there homemade cold tofu dish is phenomenal.

def go if u have the chance u won't regret it.

Will be in LV in two weeks time, am I *meant* to be booking top restaurants now, or will i be fine doing that when i get there?

It depends on the restaurant, time/day, and size of the party. I'd say 90% of the time you could wait. But if you want Kabuto (seats 22?) at a popular time or a large group you should book now. Even bigger restaurants at 7 or 8pm on a Fri/Sat might be wise to book ahead. But if you are flexible on time and restaurant you are probably fine.

Yeah and é seats like 8, so you've prob already missed your chance for that if you want it a specific night. In general agree you can wait, depending on party size. But if there's something you really don't want to miss, I'd just book it now so you get the time you want, etc.

And scroll up, Kabuto now only has two seatings per night. Always worth a try though. I have to imagine that in Vegas there must be a lot of cancellations, so some last minute opportunities might arise.

Thanks for the info guys, it'll be a table for 4 at likes of Joel Robuchon and we're pretty flexible on times to eat.
