Woodford Reserve Bourbon Master's Collection Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Finish, you should be able to find a bottle for right around $100.

Any man who likes scotch will love a Laphroaig 18. That's easy to find and even if he has a bottle he'll love another one.

Loose: one would think so, but some people are weird!

Matt: HP18 a great choice for someone you know loves good scotch but you don't know what kinds.

Amused: 18 year olds always a great choice.

There's a bar at the British Embassy here in Seoul that I've been lucky enough to visit a few times. They have a pretty nice scotch wall. I've grown partial to Glenfarclas and would recommend a bottle as a cheap drinker if you haven't tried it.

As far as duty free military purchases we are getting regular shipment of Old Pulteney for some reason and I've enjoyed it as a nice cheap nightly as well.

Really missing affordable peat in my life though.

For a scotch guy, Highland Park is indeed a great choice. Scotch lovers know it, while for more casual drinkers it might be off the radar. Ardbeg is also a great suggestion, Lagavulin Distiller's Edition (not the 16yr old that everyone has had barrels of). If you want to switch it up and go Japanese, there are good ones in that price range as well.

Eco,

In the whisky thread I decided the best choice was Ardbeg Perpetuum.

Devil,

In this thread I decided you should be perma-banned from the whiskey thread in your own forum

Edit to clarify: because you flip flopped from recommending American Whiskey to scotch

There's a whiskey forum?

And come on, scotch>American whiskey. Don't be a homer.

No whiskey forum, but a good whiskey thread in EDF.

And if you read said whiskey thread you'd get the sick cross-thread inside joke, re: American vs. Scotch

Lag DE is << Lag16 in my very humble opinion.

I have only drunk 2x bottles of the former and 6x of the latter.
Lag12 is good but overpriced.

I would say good choices (providing you like smoky) are:
Lag16 $80
Caol Ila DE (which is better than CI 12) $90
Ardbeg 10 (good value generally) $65

Don't know US prices but I have put estimates above.

Finally made it to Kabuto and it was everything I hoped it would be. One of my all time favorite meals. lolamused posted the pics in his thread.

Tried the tasting menu at Joel R a couple of months ago and thought it was superb. Worth it. It makes every other meal I'll ever buy seem cheap by comparison.

Also got to try DW Bistro and thought it was great. I had the New Mexican burger, one of my favorite burgers in town. I hear their brunch is awesome. I love the New Mexico-Jamaican fusion.

Had Chile Addiction on Fort Apache for New Mexican style Mexican. It was ok, not great, 3 out of 5 stars. IMO, Las Vegas is lacking a truly elite Mexican food option. At least traditional Mexican. I haven't found one anyway.

Places I always end up going to at least once when I'm in LV include Chada, Rollin Smoke, Settebello, and Jaleo. Love them all.

For gelato, the best in LV imo is Art of Flavors on LV Blvd, right past Stratosphere. The cross-street is Wyoming and it's right across from the Arco. If you're in the Henderson area, 346 Patisserie is excellent for gelato as well as pastries.

I really wanted to try Fat Choy, District One, the Asian BBQ place next to Chada, and Due Forni. Next time for sure. I also want to try David Clawson and Honey Salt.

Really looking forward to Chada Street. It will be opening sometime during the summer and located on Spring Mountain near Valley View.

Going to Vegas in beginning of October, starting to plan lunches and dinners. Will need 5 of each.

For dinners I'm thinking kabuto (obv), chada, cut or sw or delmonico (been to cut and sw, never delmonico), twist or picasso (or possibly e, guy savoy or jr if I convince at least one other person to go with me), and ??? (might end up being a buffet with people I'll be there with, but I'm open to suggestions).

Also if buffet, I was thinking Caesar's, should I think of a different one? Ime Caesar's > Bellagio > Aria.

For lunches, holsteins or bachi burger, bouchon or mozen for brunch, looking for a few other suggestions as well.

Is the lunch special at Milos still good value?

Anything critical I'm overlooking, or considering that I shouldn't be?
