Thoughts on Yardbird at the Venetian?

Never had southern american food. Good place to try shrimp and grits for the first time?

Place was ****ing awesome btw. A little pricy at $200 a head for the large omakase with 0 booze but the food was phenomenal and you get a lot of very high quality stuff. Will try to do the review soon.

You're probably on. Lemme check the terms of the vodka challenge. I believe they were served chilled on the rocks and it was 9 total glasses. If my recollection is correct we should be good to go.

Akikos is great, but IMO not quite in the top tier of my first few listed. It definitely makes the extended list - I picked a handful of excellent ones and could switch out akikos for any of them.

Maruya I think is super overrated and just not that great.

I did Kabuto last year, with my brother, and I was super impressed. I have a reservation for 2 at 8:30 on Friday night, and he can't make it this time. If someone wants to eat good sushi and talk about poker, please join me, I'm a university professor in my late 40's. Let me know via PM. I'll probably try to register for the Saturday Colossus at the Rio on Friday afternoon (unless it sells out by then) and then leave from there around 8/8:15.

100% recommend this for anyone who likes food. I didn't think I particularly liked sushi and was blown away by Kabuto.

also this drbeechwood guy is probably cool

Hfrog,

Updated short answer from after rbk lived here is ino for traditional and ichi for more creative.

I posted a list itt recently, search for ichi and you'll find the post. If you have any questions re: any of those places or are looking for something in particular, post in the EDF SF thread and I'm happy to go into more detail. I've been to most of those places a bunch of times.

Will finally be going to Kabuto for first time next Saturday. Probably Chada on Sunday, but I've been there. It's nice having my car when in Vegas.

We're not huge eaters, so I'll rule out the highest level of omakase. Thoughts on the two lower ones?

honestly I think it's a mistake to waste any stomach space on non negri items.
I would just ask for a str8 sushi omakase n just have him keep going till ur full.
they're totally cool with that fwiw.

Hey guys!
I plan to visit Lotus of Siam for lunch/dinner while I'm here.
Could you tell me some of your favorite dishes there that you would recommend?
I mostly eat chicken and beef/salmon but I am open to suggestions

Go to Chada instead! Most on this forum consider it better than Lotus and it's cheaper too. Check out my review on it and judge for yourself. (also order the things I recommend)

hello,
are there any old line french restaurants in las vegas? i know about guy savoy & robuchon, but i'm looking for a place that will do a table side pressed duck. not just a finish. the whole prep table side. thanks.

Pamplemousse. This isn't a rec, as I haven't been there. Appears to be as old school as it gets.

Edit: certainly not comparing to robuchon or guy savoy lol - it's a relic. But they might have what you're looking for. Just noticed them the other night so was looking at their menu/reviews.

Edit2: meh, doesn't look like they do a table side duck. Nevermind. Would be interested if anyone has been and had a review though
