STK for peoplewatching?

Carnevino is a good sit-at-the-bar spot, but it's terrible for peoplewatching.

Bazaar Meat has a good bar and decent peoplewatching. Unique menu.

Delmonico cool spot. They have a lounge that sits right on "restaurant row" where you can watch people go by.

Bazaar Meat is out at SLS, yeah? Would need to be a good notch above the Strip steakhouses to draw me out there.

Gobbo - out of interest, how do you ask for seats in the lounge when booking?

Also, if anyone does fancy joining a 25yo Brit for any of those restaurants for March 10-13, shoot me a PM. Happy enough dining alone but always nice to meet new people.

AFAIK they don't even take reservations for bar/lounge. I would just go in and ask if you can eat in the lounge and they'll take care of you. Might wanna call ahead and just make sure though.

I would totally be in for chada btw.

Gobbo. Bloo:

Fwiw, I think that area of Del's would be terrible to eat dinner in.

Most steakhouses have bars that are good to sit at and dine solo.

Is it necessary to book at most places for weeknights if you're just one person, or should it be easy to wander in anywhere and get a table?

Will give you a shout nearer the time about chada, was largely on your repeated recommendations here that it's on my list.

Yes, it is at SLS. You should only go there if the menu calls you. Foiffle ftw.

Definitely. Repost a little closer to the trip with an itin. Chada and/or a good steak sound good.

Bloo,

Vegas for 1 or 2 you're fine without a reservation pretty much anywhere on a weeknight, and most places on the weekend. I'm talking re: strip places only, don't know about off strip stuff.

To sit at the bar, you don't make a reservation and you don't have a conversation with the hostess. Just walk in, smile at the pretty girl by the door if you want, and find a seat at the bar.

or, be less like you, and just mention that youre heading to the bar when she asks you how are you/can she help you/etc

Went to Craftsteak in MGM tonight for dinner with a couple of friends.

Went with roasted filet mignon, scallops as appetizer, butternut squash & potato puree as sides. Chopin gimlets on rocks to drink.

Filet was fantastic. It's listed as a 10oz, but there is no way it was less than 12-13. Cooked perfectly (med rare). Went to Craftsteak last year and the filet was great then as well. Very happy with this.

Scallops were OK. Nothing special. One tasted meh, the other tasted great.

Butternut squash was tasty. Not everyone likes butternut squash, but even the anti-veggie that was out with us said he liked it.

Potato puree was about as soft as you'd imagine. Subtle taste. Would definitely order again.

The gimlets were extremely smooth. Bartender was definitely on point with these, I could have put away a half dozen without blinking. Exercised self control and stopped after the second.

The only real complaints were that they were out of the little rolls they usually have so we got regular sliced bread instead, and that service was nowhere near what it should have been for a decent steakhouse. We were there for 30 minutes before the server asked for our food orders. That's not acceptable. This was about 2030 on a Monday, and they weren't busy. Service was materially better on the prior visit.

Anyone have a review or comments on Tender Steakhouse in Luxor? Going there to use a $75 couponwith gf from MyVegas in a month. Figured it is better than the steakhouse in Excalibur which they offer $50 coupon.

Not expecting the best steakhouse but don't want to waste my money on a pos steak being sold as a $50 steak

Wife and I took her family of 13 there for Xmas. The place is surprisingly good- not great, but very good. It was our default choice since we housed them at Luxor and took them to MJOne next door.
Tenders menu is almost TOO big, but there is something for everyone on it.

In my threeX meals there, I've got the NY Strip, and had no complaints. They have great sides, and according to others, a VG wine list. (DC-nodrinky)

Service can be choppy, not always, but sometimes. We've always dined there on a weekend, so thats with that caveat. I think you will enjoy the place with a coupon like that.

best bar seating is still l'atelier imo but I had a great experience at the bar at CUT. It's completely secluded from the rest of the restaurant and it only seats like half a dozen folks. You get to look at food coming out and you can have multiple goes at the bread plate if that's your thing (it's mine at CUT. for sho.) I would wear a "The pretzel rolls die here" shirt.

I think I'd rank L'atelier as the all-around best nice restaurant in the city. Great atmosphere, can go a la carte tapas style or do a full-on tasting menu. Super flexible in terms of experience and total cost for that reason, priced reasonably by Vegas standards and top notch service.

Agree about Cut, one of my favorite bars to eat at.

As for L'Atelier, I do love the place but I wouldn't call it bar seating. Different kind of experience.

+1 have done this several times when I've been staying at the Palazzo myself and it is always a tremendous experience. The service is excellent and as well as the usual quality food you get chatting to the bar staff and several times I've been given additional wine pairings or tastes of different cocktails.

ps. Totally agree about the insane pretzel rolls

pps. Dining at B+B at the bar alone a few doors down is an equally pleasant experience and they have a couple of superb barman in Ian and Jason. Get the Octopus appetizer whatever you do.

I'm gonna be in Vegas next week (11th-15th) and want to have a couple nice meals. What I'm looking for:

1) Sushi. Kabuto seems to be the consensus best place in town. Agree/disagree? Their website says they were closed this week but will reopen on the 9th... anyone know what's up with that?

2) Something on the molecular gastronomy side but not too fancy. Looking at menus, Bazaar Meat sounds pretty awesome to me.

I'll probably be dining solo; will I be able to roll up to Kabuto and Bazaar and sit at the bar no problem? Asides from the 14th that is, as I'm guessing restaurants will be pretty slammed for V-Day.
