Have any of you been to Michelin starred restaurants in Paris, Munich, Vienna, or Prague? Going in about 3 weeks, trying to pick just one place (person I'm going with scoffs at spending $ on food, so I'm either going solo or tricking him). So far leaning toward Pierre Gagnaire, but only because I know they have no dress code and I'll be backpacking (so no suit obv). I know outside of Paris are only * and **, but they may be preferable anyway if other person is going with me.

My only Michelin experience in Paris was at Alain Ducasse's Benoit, which might fit for you pretty well since its cheaper and not as formal as others. It was very good too, and lunch came in around $100 for two so it's pretty reasonable by Paris standards.

I had the sixteen course at Joel Robuchon, and it was fantastic. Even the bread cart tops most restaurants.

So I had brunch at Tableau today. Tried Bouchon first but they were full up even at the bar. Ordered shrimp cocktail and sour cream banana pancakes.

The dijon was the best of the three sauces. The cocktail sauce was a C-. The horseradish wasn't terrible. Nothing to write home about. Shrimp wasn't great. Def not the freshest I've had. RM does it WAY better.

There was a lot of ****ing granola on these pancakes. And they were... good pancakes? I don't really know. Nothing to write home about.

Overall it was a good meal. And a serious thumbs up for the service. Alex was my server/bartender and he had a nice long pour on the two screwdrivers I had and was attentive though they kept him running as I was the only one at the bar at 12noon on a Sunday. I forgot how much I dislike Wynn and how ****ing disorienting it is inside. Still going for Country Club Friday night but I still stay south of there if at all possible.

Total bill was higher than I expected. 2 screwdrivers (Absolut) and those two items set me back 69 bucks before tip. I'll stick to Bouchon for the rest of the trip. It was worth 50. Not the 85 I paid.

I've seen customers insisting on add'l soy having their wish grudgingly fulfilled.

+1

Not going to do a write up of it, but did CUT for the first time 2 weeks ago. When the focaccia bread delivers on this level, you know you're about to get rocked.

If it were $20 cheaper I'd recommend it. Their dim sum is very solid and I've not had a bad item on the actual buffet itself. Have had lesser experiences with the main courses that come with it.

They overcooked the egg on my benedict and the english muffin was not toasted. Other time I went I got a pretty standard curry.

Reminds me of the story that's told that Janet Jackson walked out of Urasawa ($500pp sushi in LA) because they wouldn't make her a rainbow roll. Some people are just bad at classiness.

ugh. how do you not even just try the 1st piece to see if you need more soy? anyone that tastes his sushi and isn't completely satisfied shouldn't eat sushi imo.
every piece i've had there (and i've had a lot) has been absolute perfection.
